just to let you know linux is ubuntu.. or should I say ubuntu is linux what ubuntu is is a type of linux created by a different company then the original linux sense linux is open sorce people can do basicly anything they can think of with it.
dude i have a question for linux users (i pretend to be one soon) why in almost all the videos that i´ve seen about ubuntu there is almost nothing on the desktop???? i mean icons, shortcuts and stuff like that..
well if you want to turn all all the effects on your desktop, i think you need at least 2 gigabyte of ram and a decent graphics card. it must not be the high end one, but just a good one ^^. i think for a complete system without monitor you can spent 400 euro or maybe less for linux with all that fancy desktop effect ^^.
well, maybe the very very basic use of it. maybe your definition of "normal" is different with me. as i said, whatever ^^. you can said that is totally lies, it's your opinion ^^.

linux is a operating system. im using ubuntu one of many linux distribution. and im using avant window navigator to make the icon like in mac.

yh, I'm getting Linux soon, but it's complicated when it gets to the programming, design work, and system sides of things...
and how do I get all those effects? what grahpics card and processor woudl I need and how much RAM???
coz I'm getting one custom made built in soon for my X-MAS present probs...
and is Beryl a payed add on, or is it free on the web?
and I'm gonna get some neat skins/themes for it :D Vista-Transparency for Ubuntu-Linux...

the effects come from compiz and awn manager. my PC has an Athlon XP 2,4 Ghz and an 256 Nvidia Geforce Graphic card, an 1,5 GB of RAM.
Its an old PC though, if you buy the new one, it can do all the theme things ^^
