  • my fav.

  • although i am born in the 80's but i would love to born in this era......thank you for your efforts........beautiful....why cant we have even an inch of this in bollywood today........tired of the fake plastic item numbers and anything but acting starsss.......

  • oof Goldie.(Vijay Anand) What even with naqli props . Baaki sab baad me'n.Thats quite something. SD bhi baad me'n.

  • Embodiment of grace. Waheeda is simply ... I'm speechless.

  • My all time favourite.

No. 1 in all respect (Music, lyrics, dance, picturization, sets etc).

Is there any song coming close to this in all aspects ?

Immortal Sachin Da, fantastic Waheeda and the Man with the golden touch (Vijay Anand)

  • @Rasik17 I fully agree. But the biggest contributor to this film being such a great one was the story. RK Narayan wrote a masterpiece here.

All credit to Vijay Anand and his team for Guide, but it would really have been difficult for any one to make a bad film out of such a wonderful story.

  • क्या ज़माना था I क्या गाना था I कहाँ गए वोह दिन! शुक्रिया

  • @nardnardn move on.........

  • @fida80 जाये तो जाये कहाँ I समझेगा कौन यहाँ I दर्द भरी दिल की जुबान I

    अब के गानों में कोई भी उम्मीद की किरणें नज़र नहीं आती . But as you said I will try to. Thanks

  • @nardnardn Humien bhi dar hai dost. Par tumhari tarah darad bare geet se dil nahi behlta.Bus dil mein aur dard bard jata hai. Isi liye main sunta hi nahi aise gane.Kya karein

  • I love you.

  • This is the full/unedited version of the song, which is different from what's found on modern media.

  • Always my favourite. Salutation to the music artist who played the Tabla.

Can some one tell us who is he.

  • @bingowl I have heard it was late Pandit Samta Prasad of Banaras Gharana. I am not sure though.

  • Album: Guide

    Year: 1965

Track: Piya Tose Naina Lage Re

    Singer: Lata

    Album Star Cast: DevAnand WaheedaRehman

    Track Star Cast: WaheedaRehman

  • there is no song yet filmed to match this one even after so many years;the sheer length of nearly nine minutes, the sets ,costumes ,the lyrics and the various facets of Indian festivals like Diwali and holi shown in the song, the inclusion of water filling in villages and the beauty moonlit nights have all ben brought out in this song.I wud say no song to beat it and my best even B.I (Before Internet &You tube)

  • Gosh! Look at how long her dance sequences are! I would LOVE to see an interview with Waheeda jee regarding her dance training and movie songs. I hope they interview her before it´s too late! She´s a rare gem!

Such long sequences. She dances a lot before they make the cuts! The Sheilas and Munnis of today aren´t even close to the rhythm of ONE of her toes!

  • @Khwaab Very true friend! Gone r those immortal moments when there was a healthy competition to create magic for everyone...

  • "There cannot be sweeter music than this, touches the heart straight"

  • Thanks for the Long Version, very seldom get !!!

  • 10 dislikes??????????????????. o my god.

  • This is an EXCEPTIONNEL film....for me its "BEYOND EXCELLENT".

every thing which belongs to this film,is a CLASS itself.whether its acting or direction, singing or dancing music or lyrics.Every thing was "UN COMPAREABLE". from VIJAY ANAND to DEV ANAD, from LATA MANGESHKAR to WAHEEDA REHMAN. all of them were "OUTSTANDING".

This is actually one of the "TOP 5" films "EVER MADE" in bollywood!!!

    10 *s.

  • Wah Waheedaji Wah. They do not make like you no more and never will ever someone like you will ever grace the Indian film industry. so beautiful, graceful and brilliant. No wonder whenever they reminisce this film its always your image that comes to everyone's mind.

  • mai is gaaneko jab dekhti hoo or sunti hoo to lagta hai ki mer man bhi saath saath jhoomraha hai jab bhi suno nai si our sunderlagne lagti hai us per lata ji ki kamaa gaayaki

  • a truly pleasing performance by waheeda rahman in this song.

  • mesmerizing!

was she acutally trained in any form of dance? does anyone know??

  • @undplulucf yeah she actually is trained in classical dance :)

  • a wonderfulll movie....closest to my heart....the music...the acting of dev anand n waheeda rehman...the beautifULLL DANCES BY WAHEEDAJEE..n ofcourse acting of kishore sahu..(i think thats his name,,,the person who played rois husband)....love everything about this movie.....tilll now whenever i wtach it...i get tears...with the ending...so beautifzulll.....thanks to vijay anada

  • beautiful forever

  • vah re vah....aur kya boloon.........fantastique song, dance, acting et al.

  • Its my favorite movie. And this song is classic.

  • My dad saw this movie about 16 times in the cinema or something ridiculous like that when it first came out back in the day..I can see why!!!

  • super sweet song...pure din gate raho..maja ajaye..

  • neveroiatna pesen i video klip Bravo

  • Although nobody can come close to Dev Sahab and Waheedaji, if thsi movie is ever remade (it should not) for Waheedaji the one and only actress who can play her character would be the beautiful Madhuri Dixit and for Dev Sahab's role it can only be Shahrukh.

  • @sabbirsa Can you tell me where I can get good torrents for Guide. The ones I'm finding have only 1 or 2 seeders.

  • FUJ ! FUJ !

  • very nice;))..

  • T-ji, thank u very much for this upload, this is one of my favorites, I never tire to watch it.

  • Wow what a melody! Luv SD and ofcourse Waheeda who looks dignified and beautiful at the same time! One can never tire of this lovely song with Latadidi's magical voice.

  • 10 dislikes are nerds!!

  • Wow! Compare this to the Bolly of today in which the so called stars have plenty of fast music to dance to but nobody does. Why? Because they´re there just to show skin....surgery skin that is. No talent whatsoever.

Look at Waheeda jee...dancing for long sequences, no cuts every 2 sec. And even though she too is showing some skin....she would´ve done perfectly without.

  • what a melody !!

  • well, i have no grduge against those who dislike this song. everyone has their own choice but i love this song!! reminds me of old time(i m in my teens hehe). just luv it!! one of my fav!!!

  • simply wonderful and unique in Indian bolly songs, all weathers , fetivals and relevant dresses are reprented in one song

  • some 9 idiots apparently don't like the song..

  • wow what powerful and culturally original dresses, figures, dancing... its sad to see where we've reached today...

  • undoubtedky the best movie I have seen, I saw this movie in 1975 on its re-run and after coming out of cinema hall, I purchased the ticket for next show and saw this movie all over again

  • love this song - love all the songs but didnt understand the movie one bit - there was alot going on in the movie, one minute he's run off with someones wife who is a coutesans daughter the next his dead coz of starvation - anyways love dev anand.

  • Waheedaji is beautiful. I like this song and i'm only 14!!! I prefer old Hindi songs to nowadays songs you know...

  • awesome awesome awesome song

thanks a ton for uploading this amazing video

i heard it many times but watching for the first time here

    thanks thanks thanks

  • what amazes me is, how did they come up with such tunes???

  • @yeahtaver The answer is that These songs are based on some or other Raga of Indian Classical Music. Every raga has particular emotion, so songs are composed accordingly. For example- Raga Shivranjini is a very sad raga. You might have heard "Jaane kahan gaye wo din" or "Mere naina sawan bhado", really sad but legendry songs. They are based on Raga Shivranjini. Indian Classical Music is Divine.

  • Well said npmankad..by far one of the best movies of indian cinema..one of the all time classics along with mother india and mugle azam

  • latas voice waheedas dance fantastic thanks for the video!

  • simply beautiful

  • laafaani film hai ye ; jus superb from every angle...goldie ki direction he's a genius indeed...i love his work ....he's a thinking man very intelligent ...shekhar too is but, somehow his holly films didnt click except shakespear in love

  • Waheeda Rehaman is beautuful and elegant :)

    Always one of my fav!

  • The sheer beauty of Lataji's voice makes you go nuts. The combination of Lataji's voice & SD Burmanji's music creates intrinsic magic.

  • hello , can anybody tell me if there is another audio version of this song?? i have heard it totally differently....

  • An extremely artistic production by all ways. WONDERFUL up load by *Talaiky1*, a YouTube channel. FULL MARKS. Khalid Asghar, former Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Lahore

  • this song inspires me alwayzz....

  • no neon bulbs, glittering floors, simple and yet so captivating even after so many years...

  • waheeda and dev, a pair and lovely music and voice of lat. I appreciate.

  • this is a 9 minute song that covers the entire journey of Waheeda Rehman as a dancer from a village Nautanki to the International stage. Just keep falling the background of each stage as she grows in her career, very nice song, beautifully picturised and greatly sung

  • Wah Wah

  • the best women in the world ok

  • ♥ tose proeski♥

  • amazing !!

  • That's kathak for you!! I clicked on the link to listen to the song, but completely forgot about it cause her dance is so beautiful!

  • 'Guide' was the first true Bollywood musical. And this song is the high point of the whole narrative-it's energy,it's melody,it's sheer aesthetics. And Waheedaji is like a goddess here.

  • The best movie made in the history of Hindi cinema. Great performance in every department: Great music by Sachin Dev Burman, Great direction by Vijay Anand, great acting by Vaheeda (The author of The Guide said he could not have imagined a sweeter Rosie!! Very true), and Dev Anand. All putting in their career-best performances. Pleasing visually by the excellent picturisation and eyecatching colours, soothing the ears by the soulful music. Great job by the whole team. Thanks a lot,Talaikya1.

  • Everyone's very welcome, it's my pleasure. Well said - that about Guide. It's one of few masterpieces that I like to see again from time to time.

  • @Talaikya1 Yes... Greatest Movie of Bollywood .. Sholay is nothing in front of this

  • @npmankad - It is an unnecessarily overhyped movie, which is strictly a kitsch-loaded just above average bollywood flick. The dance sequences are mediocre and the way Europeans are shown going ga-ga over this bollywood spin-at-one-place and run-with-anklets-in-the-feet routine is just ridiculous and idiotic! And the less said about the overdramatic climax the better- it reinforces the image of Indians being unabashed believers in saints appearing out of the blue and their miracles.

  • @ramsingh1370 Sometimes.. its better to shut up.. oviously.. people like you are beyond levels of understanding.

  • i agree. RK Narayan is the author of the book. The movie is slightly diff from the book. But what a movie!!. Songs are ever green. One would never get tired of listening to these songs. Proud to Join all those who have taste to enjoy these exquisite masterpieces.

  • @npmankad ...with so many good films like Anand, Dil Chahta Hae...its unfair to call this the Best movie....although if its your preference, there is no debate on that....

  • Superb....Love waheeda Rehman and this song.

  • A fantastic performance by Wahidaji. Her expressions are topnotch and she is just beautiful.

  • Lovely song

  • This was one of the GREATEST indian films with two superstars Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman.

  • Superb. I love Waheeda Rahman & Lata Mangeshkar

  • This movei is unbeliveable. I havent comments for Guide

  • Now I know why I saw this movie five times. All those high school days memories came rushing back. This movie is an all time classic. One of the best. Did anyone see the Hollywood version with Shriley Mclaine?

  • i think she was the best of her time and an ever green goddess in the world of dancing

  • truely a wonderful song performed by a mgnificant actress Waheeder Rahman. Plus she looks soo beautiful.

  • Unbelievable....all the members of my family including my granny who is running 70+ years enjoyed this one of the GEM of Waheeda ji....so far we were listening to the audio song only, but tonight is the night which will be remembered for years to come, and this is because of your courtesy....My granny asked me to convey her sincere thanks.

  • You and your granny are very welcome Raj ji. Do let me know if your Granny would like to enjoy any particular song video, if I have it- will be a pleasure to upload.

  • Thanks for showing this much courtesy for granny, actually after Guide, we were enjoying Amrapali (I have submitted my comment over there) and no wonder granny was astonished to see another of her favorites - Vaijayanti. She is fond of those belong to that period....like Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Mala Sinha...Ohh, God, list is unending.

  • a song to be heard not to be watched. lataji as sweet as herself.

  • No?? Well if beauty indeed lies in the eyes of the beholder... Waheeda ji's graceful dance complements Lata ji's honeyed voice beautifully.

  • well, sorry to hv hurt your sentiments,i simply meant that when u see the song, the beautiful dance might shift your focus from the incredibly beutiful composition.i love to listen to the song much more than watching it only becoz each note is heavenly.anyways,a lovely song...whether u hear it or see it...just enjoy it.

  • :D well... if you put it that way... :D

Yep... 100% agreement there... just enjoy it!

  • i agree with your perspective . as a young child i used to stick to the radio to enjoy each note of this wonderful and unique composition because as you rightly said EACH NOTE IS HEAVENLY and i wouldn't want to miss even a single note while hearing this divine composition !

  • @musicmahi

you are so right ! i always wondered as a child when i first heard it , how did the composers get the '' thoughts'' in their minds to form such melodious tunes which became such timeless, magical and heavenly creations
