  • Would love to be able to test in on the roads in Chicago under ALL the weather conditions, since they change almost every 15 minutes or though it seems. Also would be fun to see the reaction of friends when the car would start driving itself.

  • good thing it became manual again.

  • Haven't the able-bodied ever considered cycling in general and using the car mainly for getting groceries? People are already far too lazy and fat. Allow those who walk with a cane or crutches to use the car, because they need it more than you do. Leave it to Americans to ruin a good system. What was wrong with placing your laptop, charger and papers in a backpack and walking to the nearest bus stop or tram, especially in LA?

  • and automatic became manual

  • WOW! Now it needs is a voice modulator and a personality chip! lol then helllo KITT!

  • He is driving with his dick!

  • Weren't we promised flying cars by the year 2000?

    What's this??

  • is there a IMEI code for Google to disable the car ?

  • HAAAAAAX!!!

  • id be shook not gunna lie

  • anyone else see the GoPro?? ;)

  • Ladies and Gentlemen..... The Future. *clap clap clap*

  • i Hate bots ... besides those i make .

  • Good for bomb cars

  • @Z4wisz4PL -shut up u stuupid terrorist

  • Apparently google are changing their name to skynet

  • Looks like a great tool to get away from the cops fast while looking sophisticated.

  • great tech and yet google cant find my postcode

  • It's kinda scary how Google can make something THIS ADVANCED. They could take over the world with a toaster if they wanted.

  • lol imma drive u into the ocean!

  • Wheels go round and round... how about sideways? they should put this on their car wwwDOTsidedriverDOTcom

  • this reminds me of transformers

  • Search for "A Musical Introduction to Self Driving Cars" - A presentation I've made after I've realized that a lot of people are afraid of this technology. Please help me bring it to them so that people know the truth about Self Driving Cars

  • what if someone walks infront of the car?? it cant instantly stop so it would hit the poor person!!

  • @npfg72 Luddite

  • @npfg72 I'm guessing the car would only drive fast enough to allow proper response time. This is a test track and it would not drive this aggressively in traffic. But remember that its response time is way above human and the LIDAR can see much more than the human eye can, 360 degrees all way around, so chances are it would be much safer for you to step out in front of the car on this track when the car is driving itself, than if a human were driving.

  • @npfg72 the idea is that it can react and stop faster than a human can.

  • Auto-pilot for cars:)

  • Like a roller coaster!! :D

  • Imagine: if they ever get driverless cars approved for use on public roads worldwide, it would make StreetView collection easier :)

I wonder how well they'd do on a certain South American mountainside road that scares the hell out of non-locals? :)

  • i bet the guy holding the camera was scared as hell

  • i wouldnt want a computer to drive for me, i'm in control of my own life or death lol. As good as this is, nothing beats the feeling of steering my own car.

  • "Yeah guys! Look at our innovative technology!" -In head- "OH MY GOD WE'RE GOING TO DIE"

  • Is it's reaction time better than a humans is there is something obstructing the driving lane? Does it know if it can switch lanes? What if something falls off the truck in front of me on a highway and there is a patch of ice or snow? What about deer?

  • @chocobofarmer2021 It's funny you're asking: the majority of human drivers seem unable to properly handle any of the situations you're mentioning, behind a steering wheel!

So, you know, sticking to the stone age is an option you're free to choose. I bet you'd have asked "Does it feed on its own? What happens when it doesn't want to steer? What if it gets scared by something? It looks scary" when some guy proposed to stop walking and ride horses.

  • @Branlutteur I'll be one of the first in line for sure. I was curious if it has been engineered for winter conditions yet. Can it see the road if it is covered in snow? It will also need to be able to detect friction to adjust speed accordingly. It will need to be able to understand drifts and piles of slush so it doesn't spin out of control. I don't see that it is engineered for winter yet. Does it just shut off if it can't see the road?

  • @chocobofarmer2021 I can't PR for Google and have no idea whether they have worked these issues out or not. Yet.

What I know for a fact is that they obviously won't release it until it's entirely ready to face any sort of road conditions; and I'm pretty sure the whole system is meant to detect whether it actually has the ability or not to take that sort of driving. I'd bet if it detected it couldn't, it would hand back the steering wheel or stop itself.

    Statistically: safer than human drivers.

  • @chocobofarmer2021 In fact, I bet you they'll release it as a driving assistance feature that never drives on its own nor takes over your driving, unless it's to brake when you're about to hit something (falling asleep, picking up stuff that fell down, not paying attention...).

And while it serves as an assistant for years and years, they test it for self-drive. When people become confident enough, they'll beg for the car to drive itself.

  • @Branlutteur I hope it's good when they release it. Can't wait to use it on the highway and in busy city areas. I would trust it on dry roads but get nervous in a northern winter when the roads get bad until they show it works in winter conditions.

  • @chocobofarmer2021 Traction control is pretty much standard these days, so any car with a system like this would know the condition of the road better than you possibly can. But, yes, bring on the winter demos. I want to see it. :-)

  • How does it detect friction and can it see potholes and what is the reaction to something crossing the street on an icy road with slush everywhere.

  • The Patriot Act can drive your Car.

  • We just have to add the plug-in E.L.I.Z.A into the car ... Ohhh goosh ! They built up KITT !

  • Audi Tts up pikes peak at 90mph in November. No driver. Remote shut off... complete success.

  • What's the point of making a "smart" driverless car drive like a (very) stupid driver?

  • Comment removed

  • What happens when there is ice on the road?

  • thumbs up als je hier komt via waarmaarraar (:

  • @RFcorporations Ej bedankt :D die wist ik niet.

  • ´Look Mom without my hands!´

    suddenly bsod

    *car crashed against the wall*

  • @glaaasje lol bsod

i'm about 89% certain they're not using windows

  • there were more explosions then in a extremist camp :P

  • i want this in holland

  • I guess it's a stupid question, but.. he's driving? Why whould you call it a selfdriving car!?

  • @xMiertjx dumbass the car drives itself he doesn't do a thing idiot even a hllander understands that

  • @bleachdude114024 hahhaaa nou ik niet

  • @xMiertjx lol

  • Computer: "System Initialized. Destination please?"

    Max Walker: "Home."

  • Vey cool, but adding an accident avoidance demonstration would have been even cooler.

  • Knightrider :)

  • nuts too fast~~~~i wont try it!~~~~

  • can the car parallel park?

  • SO if get caught drunk in the driver's seat , and the car is driving itself , can you get hit with a DUI?

  • throttle properties has a binary variable it seems

  • @saltima you meant boolean i believe, but yes it seems so.

  • @joecatty Potaytoes Potahtoes. Binary indicates that it's either 1 or 0, which is perfectly fine to say. Boolean is a binary type in most programming languages, which is probably why you thought he should say that.

  • That, is fucking scaring!

But at the same time so fucking awesome!

    I'd ride it once maybe.

  • I like this, even though I also love to drive. I wouldn't mind having this take me everywhere.

  • Nice. But will it blend ?

  • @GR8TM4N -sure yourr mom will

  • @GR8TM4N I have a serious question.

Do you honestly think that "Will it blend" thing is over-used?

  • @GR8TM4N How is it funny?

The internet kills the essence of what makes a joke funny.

    The uniqueness of it.

  • @AgrivatedKillah I don't think that it is funny. Out of curiosity i just repeated a common internet meme to see how many likes would it get in a video like this.

  • Thumbs up if you shat your pants at 1:20.

  • Fake

  • @langedwin its not fake. dumass

  • @langedwin Ehh? No, do your research!

  • Cant see his hands.

  • when you're speeding in manual mode the car switches to auto and drives you to the precinct ...

  • out of all the cars they could choose to make it drive itself they choose one of the worst cars ever made

  • А ко ће да плаћа казне?Возило или возач?

  • OMG!! That's INSANE! o_O That prius gonna kill you :D

  • holy balls!!!!! this shit looked fuckn scary

  • There's something things that shouldn't be done electronically; automatic driving (self-driving) and taking pictures of your checks and sending them through the phone.

  • He is obviously steering the wheel with his dick.... fake and gay.

  • This is going to give new definition to manual and automatic cars.

  • LOL, this is Al Quaidas ultimate weapon.........imagine the cars getting h4x0red thru their Nav system updates

  • I just quiffed

  • "BIEP BIEP MANUAL" soundsl ike future :D:D:D like in i robot :D

  • this went by my house today :o

  • That Awesome!

  • Bad time to get a "blue screen of death"

  • AI's dream has finally come true. Fully autonomous cars. AWESOME!!!

  • Not for old people

  • I, for one, welcome our new self-driving overlords.

  • Mythbusters has been doing this since day one.

  • That is so fucken awsome

  • .....was looking forward to some kind of fail, even on the drivers side at the end. would've been funny if he hit something or the cone at the end. o well.. pretty snazzy. (almost as snazzy as uttering he phrase "pretty snazzy") :D

  • Seems like 4 people believe that Google will soon dominate the whole world as Skynet in Terminator 3..

  • Damn! i know women that drive better then that!

  • I do not need a driver license anymore ...

  • I just hope that "invisible spot on the map" doesn't appear near a cliff anywhere...

  • Google is amazing and it will stay forever.

  • i like how it says..."manual"....

  • now when they impound your car.....it can just drive it self there

  • It's nothing more than a program set to take a specific path around the track. I want to see it recognize obstacles, handle collision avoidance, and move down a unprogrammed road.

  • @terracoat Uhm, do some googling. The cars have been driving themselves around San Francisco for a while now! And the only collision at all was a HUMAN driver rear-ending the Google Car! Yeah, I think that's a bit more advanced than moving around a programmed track. ;-)

  • @terracoat Since these cars have been driving autonomously around cities I'm guessing this car is doing more than just blindly following a pre programmed set of instructions.

  • I love you google <3

  • Why the hell they program it to drive that fast on a curve?

  • @reptilexcq2 I believe it was to give a demo of the car's environmental awareness. It would be difficult for a human driver to safely do what that car was doing, which is the point of that demonstration.

  • oh shit a toyota u should get teh recall done thats prolly one of them.

  • Comment removed

  • Transporter 4?

  • its indeed scary the toyota sign scared the shit out of me no joke:|

  • who controls the gas and braking control.??

    is it manually or automatically.??

  • @Zelfontial I'm sure it's entirely automatic.

  • The future of no-dui's is gloooooooorius

  • Yes! Finally a car that can drive me home dunk and out run the fuzz!

  • Yeah suddenly you entrust your life to remote control technology and a young (apparently fearless) engineer. Ha ha.. glad everyone is ok!

  • @kerstalis I think the number of accidents on roads shows that a human driver is no better.

  • that was sick... man i cant wait for these.. as long as they have built in collision detection radars in every car this could work.

  • AMAZING.

  • no fXcking WAY!

  • Google should build a self-driving F1 car and stick someone in it - that would be a "pants crapping-ly" scary experience.

  • @kingo55

And then race it, while not telling any of the competitors that it is autonomous.

  • That looks fun.

  • *throw up*

  • Well, it's not a flying car, but as far as future tech goes, I suppose it'll do.

    Do want. :D

  • Im sorry Dave.....

  • WITCHCRAFT hiisssssss!!!!

  • someone let Herbie the love bug program the driving.

  • YES! That would scare the crap out of me. They should sell tickets! This is way better than roller coasters.

  • @TomaszKoluda exactly my thoughts while watching the vdo

  • YES! That would scare the crap out of me. They should sell tickets! This is way better than roller coasters.

  • Very cool.

  • This is awsome, but i would rather acutally drive the car. This is going to take ALL the fun out of driving :'(

  • @Dzdosv42 well. it has a manual mode too. enjoy both.

  • @Dzdosv42 It switches to manual as soon as you press a pedal or turn the wheel, so there's always that. :P The thing, these would be amazing for taking street view pictures all over the world without the need to hire drivers.

  • @Dzdosv42 I dont think it would be evry where because as of now they have to program where the car is going this would probably be implemented on highways and free ways so there would be less crashes and you could go allot faster.

  • @Dzdosv42 It's also going to take all the fun out of killing people through car wrecks. Moron.

  • @mikemacjunkie1 What, are you on crack?

  • @mikemacjunkie1 a real company cant Google has some of the greatest programmers and engineers and plus Google is probably the richest company in the world

  • @mikemacjunkie1 Google is the most moral super company I've ever seen. Ever heard of the Walmart X-Prize?

  • Amazing

    carfanatics org

  • Technology is awesome.

  • that would scare the crap out of me

  • So cool.
