  • Was lucky enough to see Baldry in concert some years back. And of course, he did this...

  • Robotnik! LOL!

  • this guy has really got it going first time hearing him goooooooooooooooooood

  • Thanks so much for this!!

I didn't know Long John had died until 5 minutes ago!! I had the privilege (sp?) of meeting him in 2003. Lovely guy . . . RIP LJB . . Best wishes, Chris.

  • Legend. Simple as that xxxx

  • It was 1969 and WNEW in New York played this and I was hooked.

  • @gmalav5877 ... me too !

  • PINGAS

  • Long John (God Bless His Soul) inspired and played with so many greats......just listen to the guitar part....doesn't it remind you of something from CREAM!

  • I saw LJB in a little pub in port coqutlem not much bigger then my living room. To this day it remains in the top 5 live performance I've seen. Thanks

  • All these kida today just remember LJB from just voicing some video game character Robotnik, well they need to hear some of his tunes, this was totally awesome!!:)

  • ?. why did it take many [me] of 50 years to here this great band and singers . my older uncle and brother got me listening to good r+b music in 1957, but untill my son found this great music , it was locked out mostly in the good old USA. the BRITTS loved our [minority?] music, and celibrated something that our SORRY political state could not at that time. ROCK!.

  • Elton and Baldry were great friends. As the story goes Elton was going to kill himself many years ago and Baldry came to his aid. "Someone saved my life tonight" was a song from Elton to Baldry. Elton also took the name "John" from Baldry. Some trivia for ya'!

  • My favourite of Long John Baldry's songs. I saw him play it live in a little place here, in North Vancouver. He lived in Canada for almost half his life. He had a fascinating history, leading both Rod Stewart and Elton John, among others. I got the idea that Long John was a true artist who never cared particularly for money. He sure never sold out for money. He had something worth a lot more.

  • I can't even think of the right words to pay homage to this fantastic performer! I do remember rainsing hell and running around wildly and dancing to his music!

  • Great Stuff !!

  • Elton playing the keys? I didnt know that . makes this classic song even better, Hey John we miss yaa!

  • speed seems ever so slightly too fast

  • I LOVE the sound of a good 'ol LP~!!

  • Boo-jee woo-jee...gawd, does this take me back!

  • THIS IS A GIFT!! SLAMMED ME BACK TO THE PAST...I NEVER KNEW IT WAS ELTON JOHN ON PIANO, EITHER....

  • Closed minded Americans SO missed out. I don't remember where I first heard John, but this then-suburban white kid's life was changed!

  • @catman2130093 Kudos to you, kid! Get with it and be happy with it!!!!! Shake your boojie woojie, forever!

  • My bro- in -law- way back in our late teen...he's gone now......he used to do light's , for Baldry....when he came up north....what a riot

  • Fine post sir - long may it reign !!

  • loved this song - it tops my favorties - the only album I kept in my hundreds in wooden crates during the 60s -80s was this one - named my daugher after the backup singer "Maggie' - of Rod Stewarts maggie mae

  • @jvanesen ... the "share" is appreciated ... thanks !

  • I can't dance but this song makes me wish I could...and I guess I'm actually a pretty good dancer as long as it's in my home alone with the curtains closed and my dog outside...ya even he'd laugh at me...

  • That's not Elton John on the piano, BTW. It's Ian Armit, who played on the two LP sides that were produced by Rod Stewart. Elton played the 88s only on the two sides he produced.

  • I bought the LP- "It Ain't Easy"- when it first came out 'cos A) it was produced by his old bandmates Rod Stewart and Elton John and B) it was on sale at Alexander's department store for $2.99 (LOL), which was the going rate at that time. Those were the days. RIP, John.

  • @paskuniag .... I remember $2.99 (mono) & $3.99 (stereo) when I first started purchasing LPs ... thanks !

  • Reggie Dwight took his name from John Baldry and the sax player in this band Elton Dean and that's how we now have Elton John!

  • 'American negro" music, huh! Great blues! That's Elton playing piano, I never knew that! Wow, this is excellent it just got into the music part, yay!

  • @kwhalenful .... glad you like it !

  • love this song!!! my dad played it when i was little!! love it to this day!!

  • ... I'm trying to remember (auto/memory here) ... this LP has one side produced by Rod Stewart and the other side produced by Elton ? ... the only recording that comes to mind that Elton plays w/o "credits" was a thing called "Groovin' With Mr. Bloe" ... thanks for the info ... appreciated !

  • This is great, I haven't heard this in years. The last time I heard it on the radio, the DJ mentioned that the pianist is Elton John, before he was calling himself that. There's a good article on Baldry on wikipedia.

  • this one's so cool i had to turn up the thermometer in my place just to stay even

    t/y for the tuber

  • ... thanks !

  • great song
