I have to say I love this movie..just for the story, clothes and settings..but the acting was atrocious..and the narrators voice was dreadful. All one toned and drab.
I thought the score for this film was outstanding.
And no man in his right mind ever leaves Michelle.
Ever.
Fascinating how they managed to show her a touch older when he comes back by using a different lens, or less filtering on her..it's extremely subtle, and way before the end shot when she stares at herself. I thought some of the dialogue seemed mannered, but it disappeared later. I suppose it was supposed to be, but it didn't ring true in the beginning of the film.
Uh huh... yes he looks exactly like Orlando!!! One of the many reasons I like him as an actor... scrumptious!!!! The film looks interesting... anyone know if it will be out in theatres? on dvd? only at selected theatres?
As said above, the book is one of the greats. This film looks luscious, but I can't imagine that it can hold a candle to the book, which is deeply tragic at its heart. It turns very dark at the end. I hope the film is the same, or it will just be a gorgeous piece of fluff.
YOu won't hear the name of this film at the 2010 Oscar nominaitons. There will be plenty more film coming in November and Decemeber, this film will be forgotten by then.
I'm not sure is Michelle Pfieffer will take home the Oscar, but she might at least get nominated- the Academy seems 2 like her enough. If the movie gets good reviews I can see her definitely taking home the Golden Globe 4 Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy...
...4 some reason, this trailer gives me a "Being Julia" vibe. Anyone else think the same?
I hope this film is worthwhile and if it is I hope it earns Michelle Pfeiffer a Best Actress Oscar Nomination to remind everyone of what a fantastic actress she is.

Love, love, love this movie! Although the trailer only shows the cheerful part of the movie and none of the drama.

a film that came out in June - Academy Award Nominaitons. I don't see it happening at all. And plus it is a mediocre film. So Its a big no-no.
