  • Johnny Paycheck wrote this song about 3 years after Patsy Cline's death. Tammy Wynette had her first Billboard single with this song in 1966. It won Academy of Country Music's Song of the Year that year.

  • you're all wrong////its johnny paycheck/richards couldnt write anyting like that if he tried

  • it´s written by Johnny Paycheck - Bobby Austin

  • Keith wrote this in his hotel in Toronto in 1977, while under house arrest for heroin possession. . I always liked Keith's no frills playing and songwriting style which dominated on albums up to and including Exile on Main street.

  • die ganze cd ist einfach cool, greats from lacatrise

  • no it´s not from the Honeymoon tapes, that version is different. It´s from a bootleg called Unknown dreams. I´m almost certain that it´s from Toronto 1977. But there is also a chance that this may be from Long view farm 1981.

  • this isnumber 9 from honeymoon tapes of keith richards' honeymoon with patty.

  • @swillyification

Search for the live version, as performed by Keef and the New Barbarians in 1979. It's pretty much like this, only with some alcohol added.

This was recorded about 2 years before that in Toronto, while Keith was awaiting trial on his infamous drug bust.

  • Keith Richards forever

  • I love that song and Keith but YIKES..

  • This song was written by Johnny Paycheck, an absurdly underappreciated writer and singer. The hit version was Tammy Wynette's. Keith performed this song live when he was playing with the New Barbarians, after the Toronto bust. Thanks to Gram Parsons for turning Keith on to country music.

  • @acupunk74 damn straight brother!! paycheck forever, you nailed it.

  • Was apartment # 9 is that where keith richards? was hiding when the Canadien Royal Mountys busted into his room in 1973 and arrested him for possession of 900 grams of heroin and 1700 tons of methane ampetomol and hauled him to court room on hosreback? (with intent to distribute?)

  • @pbrick6301 No. Apt #9 is a great country song recorded by the likes of Tammy Wynette and probably a lot of others.

  • i have to say that i love the tammy wynette version but when i first heard this a couple months (stumbled upon it i feel in love with keith richards. ive really never even been a big stones fan but this song makes me want to hug him and so here i am IN LOVE with this sweet sweet voice. love ya keith!!

  • Keith Richards understands American country music better than most Americans. Lovely. Sad. Keith!

  • I can't stop listening to this, it's an absolutely perfect and beautiful cover.
