  • I cant get enough of this amazing melody. Plus the energy that these 3 have together. Holy Awesomeness...

  • if you were left with one song to live with. you would hope it was this.

  • Conor, Jim and M.Ward are just outstanding - this goes without say. However, Mike Mogis is fascinating, mysterious, and ultra-talented man! The four of them are perfectly complementary.

  • @mwilsonian He does some awesome stuff with that...is it a twelve string guitar, or a mandolin or something?

  • his voice leaves a sticky mess in my underwear.

  • Serious talent. JJ's voice just permeates at 2:54. Unreal.

  • Mogis Rulez

  • M.O.F is like my top fav people all in one specialy Conor :D

  • does anyone know what mics they're using?

  • Conor Oberst <3

  • To be honest, I prefer Matt's voice to Connor's.

  • I always thought that Conor sang the lead vocals on the album version?

  • @brownteal21 You are correct, sir. They switched up the vocals on a couple of these music videos.

  • @Moghadidliams *madam haha and thank you very much! :)

  • this version is so much better, they shouldve just stuck with it for the album.

i just listened to the album version...and didnt like it at all haha.

  • That tone... oh my god. That ES-335 is KILLING ME.

  • all the tracks sound cool ! good experience, we release that kind too we love for travel

  • I can't get enough of this track. It has something the album version doesn't. It's beyond the change in vocalists...more stripped down I think.

  • anyone know what microphone m. ward or conor is using?

  • 41 people are dyslexic and their brain flipped the "Like" and "Dislike" button around.

  • The last time THE BAND ever played together was in this room on Eric Clapton's birthday. So awesome. And then this happened ... God bless M. Ward!

  • whats a temazcal?

  • @MrHAVOCtheMAN a temazcal is a ceremonial sauna that was used by the Mayans and the other Indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica. Its uses included things like healing and purifying yourself after battle.

  • @MrHAVOCtheMAN What's a google?

  • I love this.

  • So amazing

  • Why is Matt singing it here? Didn't Conor write it?

  • @oeddawg Because it sounds cool.

  • @oeddawg He sings it in the album. Personally I like both versions. The version of Sandman, Brakeman and me with Jim James covering it, in my opinion, is better than the one in the album, where M. Ward is the main vocalist.

  • Amazing.

  • Why must my intense love for Jim James be unrequited....

  • sends chills down my spine every time I hear this version.

  • I saw a performance of Conor, doing "Man Named Truth," which was amazing. But, it was super-sweet when he started it and said, "this is actually kind of a cover, from the best band ever formed." Haha! MOF, forever! Hopefully they do another tour, one day.

  • conor sings it better

  • How could 40 people dislike this!! ?!

  • just stopping by for my hourly view...

  • Did anyone else love these guys separately before they formed M.O.F and then when they did freak out so much you died?

  • @youreveningcoat basically

  • @youreveningcoat you freaked out so much you died?

  • @Kristy424 Yeah........ we have pretty good doctors these days though

  • Amazing

  • absolutely love this song.

when i heard this for the first time,

nothing could have been more perfect.

i was in the prime location at the best time..

listening to the best song at that specific moment.

  • @5150anonymous Yeah, The Pogues are not exactly what Americans or Canadians would call folk music... it is true that their music is stylistic traditional (with more aggressive overtones) and rooted in Old World folk songs but in North America folk music is a radically different genre than Old World folk music, i.e. traditional ballads. In North America, folk music of America is something that is encapsulated in the works of people like Woody Guthrie, early Dylan, or more recently these guys

  • What's the guy whose singing the verses name?

  • @sk8tboarder18 His name is M. Ward. I strongly suggest his solo stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • @sk8tboarder18 m.ward

  • @5150anonymous Ok, take any punk song and put twice the effort into writing it and call it folk. What's the point?

  • @gnarkill114 you're a fool... straight up

  • @gnarkill114 I'm not sure who this "dillon" is that you are referring to.

  • What is Mike Mogis playing? It kind of looks like a mandolin but has 12 srings.

  • i was so disappointed when i bought the album and heard oberst singing this song instead of ward. soured my mood all day :(.

  • Eh.. M. Ward is mysteriously dope and all.. But I prefer the Conor on the vocals

  • my god. listening to this with headphones on . . . it's like being taken to a completely different time.

  • i watch you braid your hair, you're from another time

when the earth wasn't so angry, and god was on our side

    ..you're there and then you're not <3

  • clearly this guy has lost his mind.

  • such a good song - if u like listening to awesome music like this - check out my friends channel, if u like her stuff TELL HER and she will add more! /watch?v=sncWqmsGm1M

  • Nice video, but is that olde time video effect adding anything at all?

  • @5150anonymous this song is unreal, you've got to be kidding me. are you musically retarded? or just mentally?

  • @amoderndelusion He's just all around retarded

  • wow wow wow top song

  • mike mogis is the man

  • Conor wins.

  • AWESOME!

  • Dunno why they didn't have M. Ward on the album track. His voice is so well suited to this tune. Ah well.

  • Holy shit, it's too amazing for me to listen to right now!

  • Awh, Just look at Jim James smile at the end!

  • So um, Jim James on the bass?

  • I can't stop replaying

  • i was just like ... jim james .. WTF?!

  • A friend recommended this band, I fkn love it! Soo mellow...

  • hahaha jim james' face, great how they are amazed as much as i am about this song

  • pure gold. this song was meant for m. ward to sing, i'm glad they made this video as well as the album version

  • @eltonsawyer I think they should add Robin Pecknold from Fleet foxes and/or Jeff Tweedy from Wilco...really shake things up but sufjan would be awesome too

  • PEACE LOVE UNITY RESPECT thanks for posting

  • god that es-335 is such a beautiful guitar.

  • @stacyd511 yes he does

  • So badass

  • 37 people are closet MOF fans (or demons)

  • all this band needs is john mccauley and it really would have all the monsters of folk

  • has anyone seen them live? im extremely interested to see them live

  • @darapalooza I saw them live back in 2009. They played in a church here in Stockholm for about 3 hours, and it was definitely the most beautiful concert I've been to. If you ever have the chance to see either of these talented men live, I recommend that you take it. :)

  • pretty awesome that they switch singing duties for different recordings and the song still flows... cant decide which version i like better

  • i still like the album version better with Connor singing.

  • @dannyatbombdotcom

Connor doesn't sing it on the album ....

  • @stacyd511 i'm pretty sure it's him, listen to another temazcal video and compare it to this one.

  • @stacyd511 he totally does.

  • What kind of guitar is Conor playing?

  • i love this so much more with m ward singing it.

  • @alyssa8804 I am a Bright Eyes fan and never really liked Matt's voice but I completely agree, he kills this song.

  • this song is goddamn awesome! I was wondering why it sounded so much like bright eyes!

  • this song is goddamn awesome!

  • Interesting, doesn't Conor Oberst sing this song in the album version?

  • @christestrada he does

  • amazing. greatest musical talent of this time.

  • amazing. greatest musical talent of this time.

  • You know who wears their sunglasses inside? Blind People, Ass-Holes, and M. Ward.

    M. Ward for President!!!

  • @YoHuckleberry And Julian Casablancas. And i will have you know he is neither blind nor an ass-hole...

  • @TheSasquatchAssassin I don't think either one of those fellas are ass-holes. It's a Larry David reference.

  • @YoHuckleberry Oh, Well that explains it.

  • M. WARDs smile at the end of the video!!! <3

  • wow, great quality!

  • 37 people have lo0o0ost their hearts.

  • i could actually do without yim on back up vocals.. he drowns out conor's voice, which is so much better IMO. I actually can't stand yames' voice, but hate admitting that with so many MMJ fans present (LOVE the music though). Ward kills it.

  • Wow, I like this one even better than the album version. Such a lovely song.

  • Are we rolling?

  • eh sick song when your biking outdoors

  • Matt's got a great look goin

  • Mmm,hmm...

  • these youtube versions are much better than what they recorded for the album

  • jim james is one talented dude, all these guys are actually, but mmj is awesome

  • jim james is one talented dude, all these guys are actually, but mmj is awesome

  • absolute nonsense

  • M. Ward kinda looks like Gene Simmons in here lol

  • ward is trippin hardcore

  • What is mogis playing?!

  • @vanceoliver An electric mandolin I think, sounds like he's running it through some reverb with a shimmer setting.

  • @MephistoWaits I don't care if he was running it trough a donkeys ass with vazeline. It still sounds great :)

  • jim james for ruler of the world

  • The coolest kids ever.

  • Very Good, iam from Chili, see my videos if you can.. me too play folk music. Great Job.

  • I was just listening to "Dear God 2.0" by The Roots and I was thrilled by those who were singing the "featuring part" then I checked 'em out on last.fm and YT and I immediately fell in love!

  • love 12 string guitars... wish you were here, is a brillant example of how beautiful they sound

  • connor needs more face time, just saying. (although that's the last thing on HIS mind, his fans enjoy seeing his small reclusive face)

  • what instrument is mike mogus playing ???

  • @AstOnokReviews I think its the Longhorn 12 String, made by Danelectro

  • I would love to use this on red dragon

  • jim james face at 3:50

    freaking adorable :]

  • who is Jim James?

  • @mexicofly he's the lead singer of My Morning Jacket...go check em out. they're incredible

  • is the guy with the beard the same guy from my morning jacket?

  • @Rachel4100 yessum

  • Comment removed

  • These guys are hot .....

  • I mean this group is sweet but I think Jim James is the most distinct member here. I mean his presence is made on every track

  • This song is so haunting........ I love M. Ward

  • SOOOO GOOOD! It really reminds me of "Heirloom" by Brandon Snipes

  • Brilliant

  • That sucked so much.

  • @devonsucks your opinion is terrible

  • Search RARE FOLK Sevilla

  • I think I've listened to this song 15 times today. Tomorrow--maybe It'll get to twenty.

  • Gaaaahh! M. Ward's voice is amazing.

  • @ZwienerZ why cant i give more than 1 thumbs up to your comment.

  • @ZwienerZ best musician i know of right now :D

  • This song helped me out through some really depressing moments...

I'm thankful for these guys, honestly.

  • monsters of folk were amazing in concert. saw them last fall

  • the love we made at gunpoint wasn't love at all

  • is this conor oberst? wtf

  • can anyone tell me what instrument mogis is playing? is that a 10 string mandolin?

  • What kind of an inhuman bastard dislikes this beauty?

  • i love how much M. Ward's voice looks like it shouldn't be coming out of his mouth.. like... it should be coming out of Jesus' mouth or something.. lol

  • This is becoming my favorite song.

  • I like his voice, it fits the song...

  • "are we rolling?" great song and band

  • i love this instant new favorite

  • ok..WHERE DO I GET THIS AUDIO VERSION!!?!?!?!

  • @porkchop084 it's on the MOF album, title "temazcal (live)"

  • @motionlesssndtrk Thank you!

  • @porkchop084 very welcome, dear ^_^

  • connor sounds better singing this.

  • why doesn't connor sing much on this album? :(

    oh well still great songs

  • @knrose10

This is connor's song... he sings it on the album, and usually live... just him and ward switched parts this

  • @johnmorisi8 I like both but something about M Ward's voice in this song is so haunting, I have to say I prefer it!

  • @Noellenc The more I listen, the more I agree. Oberst's vocal is uniquely amazing but the more I hear this, the more I think M. Ward's vocal suits the track.

  • Maybe the best collaboration ever, 4 superstars and brillinat musicians one killer album, just but it, you will never ot out of your playlist. M. Ward is the bomb, Conner is pure soul, Jim James off the chart and Mike Mogis is the ulitmate musician.

  • he doesn't barre the chords! what up with that, what up with that

  • Uhm, where's the folk? I just hear some love ballads...

  • @RaiSensou Welcome to the irony of the hipster.

  • @delimast3r i dont get it : /
