I hope to see Tosca in Italy soon I could only listen to The Voice for a few bars For Mario Dick Johnston and Calaf everyone else is but a shadow and the Thrill Factor is missing
IlgruppoDiDocci, our deepest thanks for sharing this valuable recording. The Grand Master Franco Corelli have been the best, absolutely everything, and brighter Mario Cavaradossi, can hardly come as any less better, whatever they say, especially fans of other media which insist on interpreting in a terribly mediocre operas. Cause extrañesa or laughter? The 2 negative points are the poor who admire idem.
While going to see him in the 60s, I knew how fortunate I was, but never realized that I was BLESSED by this phenomenon! My God - we have been so sadly lacking a tenor with his abilities since he retired!
GRAN MAESTRO FRANCO CORELLI, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUBLIME VOICE, YOUR INTERPRETATION PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL, BOTH, NOT EVEN THE SAME, ALSO YOUR ACTIONS OF GREAT ACTOR IN OPERATIONS AND YOUR SOBRIETY AT YOUR CONCERTS, ALWAYS A GREAT MEN IN ADDITION, YOUR GREAT PRINTS , makes you unique. Many thanks "IlgruppoDiDocci" for sharing this treasure
I was 20 when I heard him for the first time, now I am 70, and I am enchanted, thrilled, obssesed by him in the same way, even more, as I was then. His singing, passion and appearence leaves everybody speechless, breathless, heartbroken. Such a gentleness, power, beauty! Like he is not from this world!
I am now 65, when I first heard him it was on a very cold February evening at the old Met. When I first saw him, I thought, Good God, he is gorgerous. How could a man that gorgeous sing and so he did.
El MAESTRO FRANCO CORELLI, fue, es y seá el Insuperable Cavaradossi en la Historia del Arte Operístico!!!, digno de Tener como Ejemplo a Seguir, dueño de una Expresividad Comunicativa Absoluta!!!
Lucky those who could hear his torrential and inhumanly beautiful voice in the house ! There is a recording of the same period in Italy where he holds on the smorzando endlessly in "E lucevan"... Glorious, as usual ! Thanks, my friends, for this gift !
In his prime Corelli was all glory. This is at his best, early 60s, too bad he started getting a really strange sound later in his career. He was probably the best Cavarodossi I've ever heard.
Thanks for this post-- not a corelli fan but he had a wonderful bright voice with a terrific top and was exciting to hear and see, this was FC in his prime no doubt. Keep the good posts like this coming, always nice to hear live over studio.

I like this opera very much and Franco Corelli must have been one of the best if not the best Cavaradossi ever!
Thanks for posting.

I knew Franco Corelli very early in my childhood
He made my daily life became more relaxing
After some stupid things at school, the first thing i did after school was the listenning to the Franco Corelli disc that my Dad boght from Italy
And when i heard his death
I cried
Cried a lot
A part of my body seemed to be cut
And a part of my life has gone

After that I attend the opera until he retired.
There will never be another one like him.
He was the greatest.
