@guitarhero2211 50 Tablets in our room, we sat there with our masks off doing PT and shit, we only got out when one of the 9 of us start to lose conciousness, shit was rough
@guitarhero2211 EXACTLY! after push ups and flutter kicks - and good heavy breathing - we all inhaled WAY too much to say our names and last fours, let alone the Army song. These guys are getting a TASTE of it but none of them are gagging or violently coughing from actually inhaling it. I didn't vomit but I did cough up a meter long snot rope, it made a trail like a snail. I don't know about 'tablets' but I did see the 'solid, 1Kg, one ea' label. It was in a pan on a small cook stove.
We i did it the fucking S/SGT asked me my fucking life story, it didnt feel too bad , just runny nose, eyes stung and when i got out i burped about 50 times, 2 pussies hit the deck in there
Was in the T.A for a few years and was not looking forward to the day i had to go in the chamber, i`m sure we were picked on because we were T.A because i was asked as well as my army number what football team i supported with the mask off !! it stings like fuck and it feels like your lungs are hanging out !! not a very pleasant experience, also just before we took the masks off they had us doing exercises in full NBC gear so we got nice and sweaty as CS gas attacks your pores
I thought that maybe this was boy scout gas chamber testing! I remember we went in as a group of five we all had to do responses and PT separately, when the last person was finished then we were released. I remember having snot from my nose to the ground the first time. I also almost puked on one of the sergeants from forcing air into my lungs.
when we did this we were in a bunker without holes the eir could come out of. The officer fired up 3 tablets, then asked us to take a deep breath. Not just speaking, and with window and door opening every second
You actually get used to it I find, never really overcome the irritation but nontheless you can stand more of it.
For all the Yanks here saying this and that about CS gas and them handling it, the UK stuff has 3% concentration as riot agent compared to US 1%, in other words over here it's 3 times as bad. (Source is emj journal - 'CS Incapacitant Spray'.)
Try doing phys right before you go in so you're sweating like a bastard, that's when you'll really feel it.
Who said anything about 'fucking with you' either?, my uncle is a US Marine for fuck sake, you not noticed we are deployed alongside each other and have a common enemy to fight? (evidently not).
Get a grip, because if you join up you will find the forces a) do not tolerate bullshit, and b) do not tolerate cunts.
@DrMotorDude As a matter of fact, the CS used in here is solid fuming agent. We had 12 capsules lit when I did it in basic, and the last time we did it we were made to do phys in the chamber. Then again it's only supposed to be testing fit of the respirator and correct drills, not a punishment, by which I can think of far more brutal punishments we've had inflicted upon us than anything CS can throw our way. Also does feck all if you're immune to the stuff too.
@Chaingunkill "Over here it's 3 times as bad" = Bullshit. IF you are able to state your name and number IT IS NOT 3% - I guarantee it. BTW, a respirator is for industrial use ie: paint, solvent, pesticides, etc. and will not protect the user against anti riot gas or chemical warfare agents, but a 'protective mask' (different filter media all together) will. I NEVER said it was 'for punishment' - NBC training is for the soldier to correctly use and TRUST his equipment.
@DrMotorDude blame the Political correctness brigade for bringing in the term 'respirator', I'm quite happy to refer to it as a gas mask (which is what it is) - that's indoctrination for you.
If NBC training is for the soldier to correctly use and trust their equipment, what the fuck is the point in fucking them about unnecessarily then?, once the confidence test is over, the drills done, then the only realistic reason to keep someone in there/do more is just to fuck them about.
@Chaingunkill Political correctness - I agree, it's BS. After I left active duty as a medic, I went to Univ. and among other things studied psychology of war. The reason for NBC is to MAKE IT STICK in the memory, same reason the Foreign Legion still smacks trainees when they screw up. PAIN makes the human brain remember faster than anything. As for staying in longer-big difference in eye/nose irritation and actually inhaling the gas/crystals. I went in '89 and recall it in vivid detail.
They did they same thing with me when I went to fort knox. Went through twice. The only part that irritated me the most was when your skin itches and burns like hell all round your neck and your wrist.
holy shit. they went soooo fucking easy on you. i had bct at ft leonard wood mo. and we had to do some light exercise to get the blood pumping, then we all raised our face pro, with eyes closed and breath held, as to check the seal, then after that, we took the face pro off held it over our head and were in the chamber for at least 45 seconds. we didnt even wear our mop gear. army
wow, when i went through BCT we were in there for a LOT longer than that! They made you take a full breath and then nobody could leave until we were all lined up with our hand on the persons back in front of you.... pussies
I went to fort sill, OK. It was insane... i arrive november 14th if i remember right. So i was there through winter, doing our 15k(yeah right) march while the ground was icy. looking back, i loved every minute of it!
haha... ok but this is nothing compared to my training i had. We were wearing teeshirt, cargo pant and gasmask. then we had to do 100 jumping jacks in the gas chamber. the the gas flow. After that one by one, we took off our gasmask and we had to sing the abc song.
I was in the military for 20 years, the training is to learn how to protect yourself from any type of gas lethal or non lethal agents, using your suit and gas mask, glove and boots. If you are fine in there you are using your equipment properly. it simulates a gas attack on soldiers. I was in the Navy.
when i did the gas huts one of my instructors came in drinking coffee without a mask and was talking to us. some people feel the effects more than others.

And if soldiers ever have to deal with gas on a battlefield, it ain't gonna be CS gas. It's going to be something much worse. They won't have time to panic. It's either mask on or die.
It also reinforces confidnence in the mask as a trooper learns that his mask does indeed work. This is an easy exercise. All us jarheads had to get in a line that ringed the CS chamber and take off our maskies the slowly file out of the chamber...if you were near the end of the line like I was it sucked. My advice...short sharp extremely shallow breaths that give your mind the illusion that your body is breathing without actually taking air/CS deep into your lungs.
