Nothing Kratos does makes any damned sense at all. Not only is the wholesale slaughter of every living thing he sees unjustified by his childish desire for revenge, but they don't even bring him closer to taking it. How easy would it have been to grab Hermes by the throat and force him to take them both to the flame of olympus? How about just torturing it's location out of Helios? Probably would have been just as painful as beating them to death and it would have saved so many lives.
