  • 2 people could not get passed kefkas first stage...(o_o)(O_O)

  • E-P-I-C!

    Best final fantasy ever!

  • There's too much pessimism in these comments. Great games are still made. Nostalgia adds some tiers to certain games such as FF6; but don't let that cloud you from great modern games.

  • PERFECTION! PERFECT!! It's a shame that kids these days will never know what video games are supposed to be outside of cowadoody:

Noob! Faggot noob I pwned your bitch ass!

Whatever happened to culture... whatever happened to class??

  • @Flapcakes524

    The internet?

  • I remember this being played a few months ago when I was at Chicago's Distant Worlds. The organist did an amazing job playing the solo; I was completely blown away.

  • OOOh memories...5:56 Ultima!

  • not to like?* \/

  • how could anyone not like this? what is there to like?

  • What's wrong you nosy baboon? Too stupid to caught in a trap? XD

  • Here's one thing that Kefka succeeded at where all other Final Fantasy villains aside from Emperor Mateus failed... He literally became god. He slaughtered millions of people and destroyed all hope and almost the entire world, all just for shits and giggles. Few villains in the series, and in video game history, even, can even come CLOSE to holding a candle to that. Yup. Kefka is the best FF villain, and indisputably one of the best villains in general, ever, IMO.

  • kefka's fight symbolism: Resembles Dantes devine comedy because of the heroes assention from the bottom (hell) to the middle (purgatory) and finally the top (heaven) where kefka (the new god of magic) is. In his second form he resembles Michelangelo's Pieta. And his defeat in his final form is like something straight out ot Neictze

  • Now... The third boss does look like Michelangelo's Pieta. Really amazing.

  • And that laugh still burns in my head.

  • muaja muaja muajaja jajaja !!

    I miss that laugh

I played this game 'till i got bored of playing again and again, and something still's in my mind.

What's Kefka history, were did he come and when got insanely mad and so crazy to poison a city like Doma or to try to play with Earth's balance moving those statues.

I think he's the most notorious and misteryous of all the enemies in any game done until now.

  • I like the final boss music in FF7 more, but I gotta agree that Kefka was better as a villain because he actually succeeded.

  • This game has a specific touch of flavor. An unmatchable moment in my childhood when i rose up through the tiers of the sculpture.

This is more than a game, it is art

  • 3:20

Countless hours and Finally, im fighting a Half naked man with wings? wheres the clown i fought defending that tritoch??!

  • @interegation He's still there, he's just become something more. His mind has simply ascended to a plane of such beautiful, pure insanity that he doesn't need the trappings of a clown to project to the world where his mind lies. Magic is chaos, magic goes against the natural laws of things. He is the God of Magic, he IS Magic, he is madness personified.

Wow, I gotta write this down...

  • @OrcishSlacker i freakin love that last line man, cracked me up =D

  • Despite all the awesome instrumental remixes out there, the original version of this song is still the best. The remixes just seem to lack the essence of the true song; don't get me wrong, they're good, but they always seem to make one little omission here or a slight change there that alters the feel of the song. If someone knows of an instrumental version that stays 100% true to the original, I'd love to know about it.

  • @OrcishSlacker

There probably isn't one. The Distant Worlds II version is the best out there though, in my opinion.

  • What's wrong with everyone?? This is Dancing Mad part THREE!! Everyone seems to have this one confused.

  • @Lokiman42

I thought so, don't really care just admire this.

  • @Lokiman42 It's parts three and four, in one video. He just had to separate the entire song into two parts, and this is part two.

  • @Lokiman42 pt.1 is dancing mad 1, 2 pt.2 is dancing mad 3, 4, 5 (4 is 3:20 - 3:52)

  • in kefka's final tier look at his left leg, doesn't it look like a mermaid pushing his right knee up? if some1 has a theory behind it can you tell me.

  • i salute the man who composed this

  • @Fatmanrolling38 That'd be Nobuo Uematsu, My good man.

  • I listen to music from FF 4-9 + tactics in the FF series. I've played most of the others. I really hate reading comments for any other Final Fantasy game, because most of those people were spoonfed one or two FF games and are fankids now. Ever since a young age most of us researched and sought out amazing video games to play.

I love FF6 and 7 equally. The music and art is better in 6, and I love Amano, but FF7 has an atmospheric vibe that can't be beat. -(continued)-

  • @LukeShetler But at the end of the day, I guarantee that the proportion of people who have played other golden-era RPGs (1990s) is MUCH higher among those who have played FF6 than FF7, 8, 10, X2, and 12.

Games like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger and to a lesser extent Chross, Vagrant Story, Wild Arms, Lufia, others I'm forgetting, and most of all Xenogears.

If you guys are legit, I recommend Xenogears as a game which, for most who have beaten it, is considered the best game of all time.

  • It is good to see people can have good natured discussions about FF music and not flame each other, I love all of the FF music any boss I can pick my fav out of 6-9 all are amazing, I have yet to play through 3 on the DS and I am playing through the fan-based translations of 2 and 3 on my NES emulator lol. So hopefully I can get through them all and listen to the old and new. I love FF music altogether, the music is simply amazing each has its own strengths and weak points. FF music FTW!

  • 2 people are sephiroth fanboys

  • when I played part 1 my lamps started flickering

when I started playing this the lamps flickered again and my house shook from the wind a little

  • who in the hell disliked this theme?!

  • I don't see why everyone thinks that this is the best villain theme. It's good, I'll admit. I certainly don't dislike it. But come on. "Dark Messenger" was an amazing theme. "Otherworld" was an even better theme. And of course, we cannot forget "One Winged Angel".

Although those are all the more recent ones, I still like some of the older ones better, like "Zeromus", "Battle to the Death", and the original "Last Battle".

Personally, "Otherworld" is my favorite. I love metal.

  • @myteethareshiny I think that a part of it is that the tune itself gives rise to something larger than life. Also it is associated with Kefka, who a lot of people (myself included) see to be the absolute best villain in Final Fantasy history. The whole piece seems to perfectly compliment the final challenge and adds to this whole "You're actually taking on a god" scenario. Those are but a couple of reasons. Oh, and nostalgia, of course. Reminding us of an awesome game.

  • @youbecame But come on, you have to admit that "Dark Messenger" (Trance Kuja's theme) was an amazing score. It adds to the original Kuja theme, but lets you know that Kuja actually plans on killing you this time.

And before you ask, I don't think Kuja was better than Kefka. I love Kefka. He's like the Joker of the FF universe, and the Joker is my favorite villain of all time. That being said, I'm a Sephiroth fanboy, so of course I like One Winged Angel a lot more. It's just so much more epic.

  • @myteethareshiny I can see how the score of TKuja fight gave a similar feeling. I certainly was fond of most of the score for that game, particularly the pandemonium sequence. Taste is certainly a major factor, and if you prefer the TKuja music then fair play. I think a lot of us who love Dancing Mad love it for more than just the music. To us it elicits the memory of the culmination of VI: that nostalgia, factors in. Please don't get me wrong, I like many soundtracks, call me a fanboy, I guess.

  • @youbecame Well, I suppose it's because of the order in which I played the FF games. If I remember correctly, the order I played them was 7,9,8,4,10,10-2,1,2,5,6,12,11,3. Yeah, I screwed it all up, LOL.

As a result, I became most fond of 7 and 9. Even then, I still recognize which of the others are great games. 4 and 6 really stood out among the others to me. 10 was the best modern FF. Fuck 12. I haven't played 13 yet, but I heard it was shit.

  • @myteethareshiny umm... Dancing Mad was a masterpiece, I'll admit that Dark Messenger, Otherworld and OWA were good too. But those themes are made in a more modern time, unlike Dancing Mad.

  • @Cidk10 I listened to it again, and I still can't understand why everyone thinks this is such a masterpiece. A lot of the notes sound like they were all rushed. It's really not that great. I think Kefka deserved a better song than that.

  • @myteethareshiny you just don't know that Kefka's final speech is this piece. And you think that other tones are rushed? 'Cause it symbolizes Kefka's madness and insanity! Try to understand the meaning of the song first 'kay?

  • @Cidk10 Once again, I don't understand how this song can be so revered. I'm not saying that FF6 has bad music. This game had some kick-ass music. Decisive Battle was awesome. I kinda wish they had just saved that music and used it here instead of using it for other boss battles.

Look, we're not going to agree, so let's just leave it at that.

  • Wow. With some of the notorious FFVI fanboys you may have unintentionally attracted to this particular video(s), I'm actually surprised AnonymousXXXXXX didn't even post a commet here. I guess he is so notorious for giving FFVI fans a bad name that he either has yet to check you out, you listed a track/game he hates or you decided to block him. Warning: He is a FFVII hater, but even FFVI fans hate that guy.

PS: Unlike One-Winged Angel from my favorite game, this theme isn't over the top.

  • PSS: I don't want to name any names specifically who may have commented (since I don't want to accidentally mistake them for fanboys), but let's just say, not everybody who praised this theme or this game is a FFVI fanboy, let alone here. There. Now hopefully, I can rest easy tonight.

Or maybe not. After all, it is Kefka, and he is pretty creepy. Truth be told, I hate him. I hate clowns. Why? For the same reason my dad hates snakes. For the same reason I hate the Joker, or It.

  • ugh CANT WE JUST LET THE DUDE SLEEP

HES HAD A LONG DAY DESTROYING THE WORLD JSUT LET HIM SLEEP DAMMIT

  • God that sodding laugh...it haunts me!

  • @youbecame OHOHOHOHO

  • I always really enjoyed the symbolism that was in this fight...and the music really fits it so well.

  • 5:16 the end comes beyond chaos! "Get ready for Goner"!

  • Chaos to Kefka: Sleep in emptiness, crooked clown.

Kefka to Chaos: The sweet scent of death! (P.S. "Zappo!" "You'll be well done!" "Freeze!" "Did I get 'im?")

Anyway. Point is, this song was great in the original and was just as great on Dissidia. Kefka was also the funnest to play with/against.

  • First tier you fight satan, second tier you fight the embodiment of purgatory, third tier you fight Jesus and Mary and finally 4th tier Kefka. The most EPIC final battle in video game history. Suck it Sephiroth.

  • @daarkbuu ummm, i think your an idiot cause first off its not jesus up there its kefka and the goddess, theyre all just messed up machinized versions of the 3 gods of magic, fiend, demon, and goddess, going up to kefka almighty insane god of magic

  • @TheRagCo Not going to argue with you, but that's what I've heard from multiple people. I've never heard your theory before. Thanks for calling me an idiot by the way, really expresses your intelligence.

  • Yeah Kefka was defiantly an epic boss, he always twisted the story and pissed you off when you didn't expect it and it always made you want to the kill the bastard but his ways always made you love him more and more

  • Third tier definitely my favourite of the four.

  • @1gregre1 sounds distinctly similar to bachs toccatta and fugue. very nicely done

  • I'm glad I've had the chance to experience this game at release and enjoy all of its grandeur as the most perfect game at the time.

If you have never played this in its time, you'll never be able to appreciate it fully...

  • @moonbal not true at all. I played it as a little kid when it was re-released for the playstation and I fell in love with it. I already had ff7 and this was still amazing to me. It doesn't matter when you play it, at what age, or what system, people will always be able to recognize and enjoy the magic of a game like this to its full potential.

  • Lovin' hearing Kefka's theme used in the organ pedals for the opening organ part. So awesome. Bach would've appreciated it, I'm sure.

  • dont get to here a whole lotta the music, particularly the final movement, when you have locke rockin the genji glove, offering, and two atma weapons. After only one blast from that kefkas a "goner" haha

  • Sounds like he was inspired by Bach's toccata and fugue

  • 3:20 chills CHILLS CHILLLLLLLSSS man when Square was moving to the ps they wanted to leave with a bang.....seriously best piece ever for a boss battle

  • 5:20 soooooooooooo epic!

  • That too. That's the reference, but I think the story logic is that the tiers are the three Goddesses made into Kefka's image.

  • Agreed.

The 3 tiers leading up to Kefka are all representative of the different ways that Kefka had perverted the power's of the three Goddesses.

  • I don't quite get the song. Is it one song and Kefka changes along with it or is it more like four different phases? Either way the song owns.

  • Kefka doesn't change. You fight the battle in four tiers, and Kefka is at the top (and only at the top). I think the lower three tiers are supposed to be the reincarnation of Fiend, Demon and Goddess.

  • The three tiers are reference to a poem called Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. The bottom being the hell, the middle being purgatory, the top being heaven, and Kefka being God.

  • In the fight itself, as each tier of followers is defeated, the screen rises (the party is more or less floating in the air by the time you reach the 2nd tier and onward). Kefka himself floats down once you reach the clouds.

  • Kefka Owns all he was the Best Villain hands down

  • all hail lord kefka!

  • 4:55 his playful side tries to kick in........nope back to epic

  • This is hands down my favorite FF. For me, it represents the end of an era for the franchise, much as FF7 was the beginning of a new one. I'm hating the wave of remakes that we are being bombarded on recent years but I wouldn't mind a remake of this one at all.

  • @poltergeistx I agree. Final Fantasy 6 was the VERY LAST ONE in the classic series. That is why Final Fantasy 1-6 will always be the TRUE games in the series in my eyes.

  • This game comes from an era that seems long gone.

I've never quite been able to put my finger on it, but for some reason, this game has a surprising amount of replay value (I'm still playing it half a lifetime later.)

The story and the theme music were almost perfect, and then of coure there is always a way to challenge yourself to a higher skill level of play: No espers, no magic, no gear, perfect low level, etc.

There are not many recent games that have the "special something" of FF6.

  • @WadeDanielSmith

Final Fantasy 6 was my first introduction to the franchise. Needless to say, it was the music that got me hooked. Six was the first Final Fantasy to get several playthroughs (come back to it after a while) out of me with the second only being Final Fantasy 8 with two playthroughs. Other Final Fantasy games, one playthrough is enough for me.

  • Also, 6:29 is my favorite part of the song, because I love Kefka's laugh so hardcore!

  • 5:16 is a fitting time to use goner.

  • The moment that organ kicks in at 5:16, I just immediately think of Kefka's (slow, majestic) ascension to absolute power and my God, is it awesome!

  • 3:55 best part hands down

  • i second you pisce3. i couldnt of said it better myself....

  • Kefka is the best villain in the FF franchise hes insanity and devious plots make him far more inventive and unpredictable then any other also he did become an actual god and unlike other FF when you beat the last boss you save the world and every lives. in FF6 even when you kill him the world is still doomed and life will end so he won even though he lost. unlike some other well known FF villains, and im gonna take cover before the fanboys start shelling *runs into bunker*

  • Hell yeah.

  • @piscespeter3

Actually, the world did survive, it was still REALLY messed up though. In most other games it would probably return to normal. I have always thought Kefka was the best FF villain ever too, btw. = )

  • @piscespeter3 Actually, the world did survive, it was still REALLY messed up though. In most other games it would probably return to normal. I have always thought Kefka was the best FF villain ever too, btw. = )

  • @sharkmaster99 I agree and also sepiroth got owned by noob cloud and thrown over a railing. Kefka got the best of GENERAL LEO who when I first used I was like hell yes hes hella sick I hope I get him. THen he gets pwned...nooooooooooo.

  • @piscespeter3 this music is actually the most complex boss music made yet.

    You know this right?

Even one winged angel is not on level with this,it is just so full of emotion.

  • @piromaniac9999 Totally agree... This theme is more powerfull than very much others, onw winged angel is good but there are other super boss music that have master job XD... like Dark Messenger from FF9, in my opinión is better, and reminds me this battle, because the reality-self was in danger... HOHOHOHOHOHOH.

  • @sannamy This one i think even surpasses kuja's theme, its just so complex.

And while kuja's theme and even zeromus theme are really really good and even x death has a good boss theme.

  • @piscespeter3 The world didn't end. All magic died off. Kefka basically became the god of magic when he messed with those statues. The only thing that is unclear is whether or not Terra died. It shows her power fading, but you don't actually find out if she died.

Life can still go on without magic. Besides, most of the world was living without magic anyways.

  • @piscespeter3 well, the world will live, but yeah he still in a way won because lots of people died and he was able to become all powerfull like he wanted. Come to think of it, he is the only human who went from a wimp to a extremelly powerfull villain.

  • @piscespeter3 i agree with what you say oh shit open the bunker doors!

  • @piscespeter3 i wish i could thumbs up over 9000....

  • 5:14 is when it gets the most epic!

  • better listen to Bach in the first place

  • In my unprofessional opinion, I think Kefka is one of the more original and actually interesting villians in SE/SS's libary. He wasn't all powerful untouchable bad guy until the half-way point, and was subtle and devious in his style... Then, he gained control of the Triad, and then he ruled the world not at all caring about anyone or thing... he was single goaled, and worked towards that goal... plus hte line of 'BLEH! You all sound like lines from a self-help book!' is still classic.

  • I'm Blade19234 and I support this message. kidding kidding...

But, I totally agree with all that you have just said. Kefka is the number 1 villian of all time.

He is most often compared to Sepherioth ... but honestly, everything Seph did was standard villan things to do, by the book really. He did go out of his way to screw with Cloud though.

But nope. Kefka is the best hands down.

  • If you look at the greatest SNES games, they were basically made by Nintendo, Rare, Capcom and of course, Squaresoft!

  • Don't forget Konami dude!

  • lol yeah sorry I didn't mention it >_> They made great games too.

  • No problemo :D

  • Classic! Brought back memories hearing this. Back when Square cared!

  • Square isn't what it used to be, since that damn FFX-2 (wich had a good story, but for the rest of it, it sucked)

  • Epic.

  • 3:54 Best part.

  • Son of a Submariner !!!

  • I remember when I played this game, I thought it was okay, but when I got to the final boss I was like "Finally, something epic" As I progressed the battle wasn't getting harder, and the music was so repetitive... When I finally got to Kefka I was happy because the rest was boring. Sadly, Kefka was just as easy as the rest... A final boss should not be easy on a first playthrough. I have never played the game since then. Dragon Quest VI and Chrono Trigger were the best SNES rpgs ever.

  • It's an RPG, any RPG can have easy boss fights if you are powerful enough.

  • Kefka is simply the best video game villain ever.

  • him and prince luca

  • Don't say that. He'll become another Sephiroth if people keep saying he's the best villain ever!

  • Best FF song ever... and it feels like im in church or something.

  • According to my opinion your choice for the top 30 is somewhat unusual - but not bad. I miss Super Metroid, MegamanX, Terranigma, Soul Blader, Super Ghouls n Ghosts, Illusion of Gaia and some of you choices (Secret of Mana for example) did surpris me. But I can see that you have a specific taste ans I see a coherence in the songs you chose. So it is a great collection ;)

  • secret of mana surprised you in a bad way?

Really now and I was just gonna praise for wanting to have Terranigma on this list.

  • Well, I like the Oracle (even like it a lot) but it is an unusual track and I probably wouldn't take it on my favourite-list (its too short and monotonous if you ask me) and there are some songs that are better on the SoM-OST (which is one of the best Sound Tracks of all times)

  • mmm...super metroid brings back a lot of memories. i agree...but the list would probably have to be expanded to completely list all the great songs. still...some may slip by from our memories. that's one reason i subscribed...cause snes has so many great soundtracks. =)

  • Its a wonder what they could do with 16 bit technology.

  • Comment removed

  • idiot...i was replying to a previous. why not click to view all comments and see?

  • Kefka was soooo easy to beat :( I concur, epic music though

  • @xXShinzouXx you have to think about it though;you had 3 other bosses to fight before kefka! thoses battles were atleast 20 minutes long! kefka could still wipe out your party.there is a hard type of ff6

  • Dunno why this comment got flamed, he's ridicously easy to beat compared to the ffIV and ffV final bosses.

  • yes he is ¬¬ whoever who flamed my comment should know XD

personally i´ll say he was too easy because

    zaeromus (IV):110000 HP

    exdeath(V):form 1:49000,form 2:220000 HP!!

    kefka:62000 -.-

i personally say that he´s too easy!,he should have 162000 HP instead,or maybe 262000 HP,then he would be hard

  • But I guess you have to think about the other 3 parts of the battle down below, maybe squaresoft counted that as being part of Kefka, who knows.

  • yes maybe but still,he´s an easy boss -_-
