Is this at the area associated with the diamond mine/koa or some less publicized locale? I'd very much like to go find some of these beauties for myself. My father in law passed away in april, he was from Herkimer NY and I know my mother in law would LOVE if I brought her home a gem from his home town. Any info you can share would be great.
Ehmygawd!!!! Me and the fam went up last year. We ran into one of my dads old friends and his girlfriend. he pulled out probably 4 or 5 baceball sized ones. one had a pocket of 50 million year old water in it. i had ssooo much fun.
@Caitierose17 50 mil old water !!!!!!,do you know what a scientist would pay for a sample of that water ,i can tell you the finder would be laughing all the way home and forever more
Vid looks old so you may have taken care of it already but youll probably want to grind that mushroom head off your chisel, those chunks can REALLY hurt if they break off.
Hello, glad you had fun doing the collecting thing with your family. The pockets are alot of hard work!!!! There are all on the same level , just follow the holes on the ledge.
Thanks for your comments and hope to see you there sometime soon. I am glad you enjoyed the vid. See Ya!! Joe
Thanks for filming that; finding a pocket like that has to be one of the rockhound's greatest thrills. That last matrix piece was amazing... I'd hammer for a week or two to get a killer like that. Thanks again!
Collected there maybe ten years ago, was just about the most fun collecting I've ever had, got some exquisite small xls but had to quit after a few days cos my arm was going numb! I'm seriously thinking about returning this season and going after a pocket or two.

no generaly just chisels and feathers is what most people use might take a week to move enough rock or it might take ten seconds to clear dirt
