What's that guy in the red & white track suit trying to do? Looks as if he's trying to influence the decisions. I'm pretty sure it's against the rules for managers or coaches to act that way.
@mirageF1AZ - There's no question in my mind that Sth Africa produces some of the best karateka on the planet (I've trained with Sensei Stan's JKA & Sensei Malcolm Dorfmann's KWF people). An my impression was that their kumite edges out their kata. So what didn't you like to rate it as the poorest ever?
@BelloBudo007 What a coincidence, I am one of Sensei Malcom' KWF students...I always thaught our kata is better than our Kumite, I have never met sensei Stan Schmit but I know about him, a true legend same as Sensei Dorfman. Where are you from and what style of Shotokan do you study? About that Empi, his form looks okey but I just feel he lacks power in the movements, dont you think? Mabey my statement as the poorsest empi ever was exagerated...Ossu
@mirageF1AZ - I've never met Sensei Stan yet either but hope to one day. However I've studied his work through his books and trained with quite a few of his SA students and they have impressed me with their technique and attitude. I've met and trained with Sensei Malcolm (before KWF), so IMHO you are in excellent hands. As for exaggeration, well, we all do it to make our point. Personally I do it all the time with my wife. Mmm that maybe not the best example. ;)
@BelloBudo007 I trained with Sensei Malcolf prior to KWF when he was still affiliated to JKA. for some reasy I enjoy the KWF karate more than I enjoyed JKA...I havent trained with international senseis, I would realy like to. I am planning to do a backpack tour throug Europe next year starting in Great brittain going from dojo to dojo...What is your take on the KWF karate style?
@mirageF1AZ - My take on KWF (and remember you asked) -
* Yahara Sensei is charismatic & charming but far too hard (brutal & inconsiderate) on his Kenshusei & assistants. Gone - Pemba Sensei, Aramoto Sensei & now Kawasaki (sp?) is injured (unsure why) and Robert Sidolli has departed (not too sure why).
* His assistant is Isaka Sensei who has some 'quirky' ideas about karate.
* Malcolm Sensei probably runs the best KWF internationally.
@mirageF1AZ - # 2 - Word was Yahara Sensei wanted to stop running the KWF. I reason that he's wealthy & successful and does not need the pressure of running KWF. Being an International Head would be a tough juggling act. Time will tell what happens. That should not concern you though. Your SA group will survive and thrive. I've done the backpacking karate thing through Japan & highly recommend it Don't worry JKA, KWF, JKS etc. Just train, makes friends & enjoy yourself. ;) Cheers

That has to be the poorest Empi I have EVER seen.

@mirageF1AZ - Poorest? Really? You must live where the standard of karate is amazing or something. Personally I thought it wasn't too bad at all.

@BelloBudo007 I am from South-Africa and we train High quality Karate our kata is verry good. Sadly its not the same for our kumite...

@mirageF1AZ does your federation take part of wkc?:-?
mihneatheripper 2 months ago
@mihneatheripper As far as I know my federation takes part in all karate competitions. WKF, WSKA , Shotokan cup , Kanazawa Cup the list goes on.

@mirageF1AZ i asked because i saw some guys from SA at a wkc event that, as you said were not that good at kumite but the kata was pretty good
mihneatheripper 2 months ago
@mihneatheripper Where were WKC held?, because I think I know the guys who were there. I always tend to underestimate our kumite capabilities.
