dude, is this on a tape fed home camera? cuz if so plz tell me how to covert it cuz i have a vid that i wanna upload but cant cuz its tape.....ur drummin was dope btw
Everyone complaining about an electronic kick should just realize that the kick is this loudest part in an apartment building, so he is keeping the noise down a lil bit. I do exactly the same thing when I need to. I just wish I was spoiled like all these American kids that get to play a kit in their bedrooms with no one calling the cops!
@SessionElite The trigger is deinitely helping him out. You would have been barely able to even hear his kicks at all on an actual bass drum. If he could play at that speed, with precision and power, id give him props.
@jayb613 even if using trigger, the technique "trigger tapping" is extremely frowned upon. The reason triggers are used is so you can actually hear the individual bass drum notes at high speeds. George Kollias and many others (including me) say if you cant make it sound good without triggers, your not even drumming.
@SriDys i guess i might be biased cause the only kit i have at the moment is electronic. my whole kit is triggers lol... it's all good though everyone is entitled to their own opinions and i don't think that most drummers out there can even hold a candle to george kollias
OMFG this is so dumb. ZOMG DOUBLE KICKSSS. on an electric set all you have to do is touch it. you wouldnt get any sound if you touched the kick that soft. fuck electric. play that on an acoustic
Well actually it looks like he's using force sensitive triggers. Both the DDRUM Red Shot (mounted on his toms and snare) and the Roland KD-8 (kick trigger) have a pretty damn good range of responses... There's a SLIGHT volume boost, but playing fast and weak, or 'tapping' the bass drum, will still sound pretty quiet on these triggers.
A lot of death metal drummers use triggers like these mainly just to get a cleaner bass drum sound... otherwise the guitars will drown you out at high tempos.
Oh my god. Finally found a drum video without some slutbitch saying "J03y J0rdis0n is better than you n00b" I fucking hate those people. GGGRRRRRRRR!!!
@tle123rox especially since it says death metal drumming, and slipknot is CLEARLY not death metal. i rest my case. joey is good, but samus from abigail williams was the shit before he left.
i liked what u were doing with ur hands but how lightly you were hitting the bass drum trigger you would barely be able to hear that on a real bass drum let alone a death metal concert
can you explain to me wtf triggering is i looked them up and i didnt get far. I can see that the triggers are the red things on the lug of the toms. but what do they do?
they basically turn acoustic drums into electronic drums, after hitting certain speeds, acoustic drums sound muffled so basically triggers keep the sound consistant.
different way to explain it is they are basically the equivalent to pedals for a guitar... you hook them up to a processor and you can choose what it sounds like, changes the sound entirely and yes it is mostly for speed and power because it gets very muffled 200+ bpm
Triggering is basically adding a little sensor to the drum that when set off by striking the drum, will play a sound through an amplifier. Triggers make drums sound louder and more consistent each strike.
I taught myself (with very little help from the internet) over time. I can keep a steady beat going(not sure at what speed exactly but i can play mortal share by Insomnium), but as soons as i do anything that pushes my abilities i either: lose control (probably due to me using my right foot too much and not training my left), or my legs get tired really quickly (and im not unfit). Any help would be appreciated.
Has anyone got any advice on improving double bass drum technique, i've been playing the drums for 4 and a half years now, with being tutored for only the first year, i got a double bass drum pedal about 2 years ago as i got into bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, that kind of thing.
you cant really say that a trigger doesnt sound good on anything but a bass drum, you can choose how you want the drum to sound if ur triggering it, so itll never sound bad, if ur playing it
ur just fucking stupid....he does that to save money man theres not much difference. u wouldnt know cuz ur obviously not a drummer. ACOUSTIC bass drum plus the triggers and the drum machine and all that stuff costs more than just having the electric bass drum. it saves money and i dont believe that he uses that kit for live shows anyway so whats the point. i hate fuckers like u...
dude you dont need triggers on an acoustic bass drum it just cleans the sound and makes it easier to hear so go fuck yourself stupid piece of shit!!!!!
he has real drums. i think his first tom is not real, he has a electric snare on top of his real snare, and then a not real bass drum. electrics suck dick though.
please dont make stupid generalisations like that. it may have just been that particular 'electric drum bass' that had 'more rebound'
you make it sound like anyone with an electric drum kit is cheating.
if you did any research at all you would know it is in fact much easier on a real kit as you get way more rebound from the skin. i find it alot harder on an electric kit.
and yeah,, like post a vid of you playing drums that fast kay? cool.
larzyyy doesnt know what hes talking about wtih that rebound bull. haha. but electric kits are still much easier to play on. you dont need to worry about hitting anything hard to produce the sound you want, so its much easier to play faster. same principle with triggering. tapping with triggers isnt cheating, but its certainly not admirable. i will admit, theyre fun as fuck to play around on though. haha. but past that, they take some of the art away from death metal drumming
The only real way i see electric as cheating really is the fact that Acoustic you need to maintain the power steady for the same sound, whereas with an electric, the triggers will recognize even the slightest tap. not that electric isn't just fun as fuck
Hold onto the blasts, it's boring to hear 2 seconds of blasts and then some crappy filly moments over and over.
