Even I am not LR fan, I have to admit that it was probably drivers fault. He was asking for that by reving like that and changing direction all the time. Rev's sounded very high, and especially if it is diesel, it isn't meant for that kind of use.

Someone who mentioned Toyota, in ours house Toyotas engine and gearbox blew both already under warranty time, and fact is that any car will break with idiot driver. You can break anything if you want to.

You can break ANY vehicle with crap driving. Revving it like that is asking for trouble - if the wheels are spinning at high speed in reverse and you slam it into forwards no wonder it broke.

Fit some decent tyres and get a decent driver!!!
