Well when i first got them the king tiger wasnt to fond of the gold nugget and still isnt, but the tank is large enough for both of them to have there space and be comfortable, needless to say i wont be getting another. Yea the gold nugget was a little difficult to take care of at first, he had a sunken belly! we nursed her back to health with almost daily feedings of spurilina enriched brine shrimp. Now she comes out even in the day to play along the back walls and chew on her wood.
I have regular gravel with seachem flourish tabs in the substrate, i broke one into pieces and placed them near the rooting plants. I also add seachem flourish to the water coloumn and use 4x65watt pc setup. I wish i used a combo like ,that, would really help. Stuck with this now its doing fine just waiting for co2 setup.
what did you put under your gravel to get your plants to grow, i have heard that a potting soil, peat moss combination without fertilizer can be used.....then put the gravel on top of that....?.....nice.

you honestly dont need a co2 setup for so few plants

If your tank is that lightly planted, co2 isn't as necessary.
