  • Looks straight out of Revenge of the Sith over Coruscant. Mind-blowingly awesome.

  • Get a trailer on machinima or another massive gaming company, then news about this game will spread like wildfire.

  • once this is out everybody will be playing this. even wow player will abondon their orcs and come. garunteed.

  • (jaw drops) I have to go change my pants...

  • to see my diploma project work in progress please visit

    kopekope.blogspot.com

  • @kope7777 make a superman game this big

  • I want this game, but I don't think it will get anywhere with just one person developing it. So I doubt will be getting Infinity, but cheer up, future space sims will definitely incorporate the technology of this game. :)

  • @commandershadebetter No it will come, this project has been coming along way for those of us that have been keeping an eye on it like myself over the years and those working on it. Yeah the dude running the project is the lead programmer and main and only programmer on the project but he has alot of people helping him with ideas and mapping of nearly every sort from ships to cities like the one above. The alph for this is sad to possibly be out within the next 1-3 years.

  • @commandershadebetter Star Trek online is pretty shape but I'm pretty sure on intergalactic space travel from galaxies to plants to cities is nothing like it is in Infinity on STO.

  • you just want the huge ship to just drop out of the sky to the ground below... mwuhahahahaha.

  • @mycrofttrek YES! ROOOOAR BAM!! and then fire in the city, lets destroy another one :D

  • And this is what's going to be the most incredible, awesomest part of Infinity: the scale. It's hard for me to even describe what it would be like! If Infinity works out the way I think it would, on a single planet there could be a massive number of political, corporate, and diplomatic situations and happenings happening all at once! On one planet; no, on one continent! (If it were Gaian.)

So, pretty much, this game is going to be the best sci-fi sim ever if it works out like a hope. :)

  • This game is going to ruin my life.

  • my god this is sick!

im going to love see huge battleships shot out of orbit and crashing onto cities! THATS GNA ROCK!!!!!

  • @herpy1

    You play eve don't you?

  • @PICLex

nops i used to play freelancer it was the best

lost my disc :( this looks so good tho :D

  • I came 4 times before I even got to the keyboard to write this. But by the way I know this is pre alpha, where are the truly awesome beam weapons?

  • ive seen alota infinity videos and i cant wait for a game to come out, i play a game called dark space, and infinity would take that game to a whole new lvl, but i doubt the devs at infinity would be interested in a free to play game, lol but what infinity already has is figgin amazing, keep up the awsome work guys and gals

  • If this is going to be an mmo. Huge mmo - prolly sandbox-one server mmo. What server will be able to handle it? Eve is huge sandbox without so many features and it barely copes with the lag.

  • @WhiskyBobb

It's procedural (repeating words of the last 4 billion comments), the whole world doesn't "exist" at all times, it is recreated when someone is there to see it the same way it was left.

  • @melandor0 Yes, but with a big enough player base, that will mean there will be tons of "occupied" places that need to be "recreated" by the server, which WILL pose a technical challenge not to mention financial one(Financing the costs of a server-cluster to handle it)

  • @Gargantou I really don't think that their will be enough player to occupy the propsed 100 billion start systems

  • Lol, with technology like that, don't they have the ability to use the vast energy required to power their spacecraft in their weapons? Those are like pea shooters compared to what they should have.

  • @hellomate639

thats how they always do futuristic stuff, the weapons are always retarded. Why is that?

Put a 1950's interceptor with Falcon missiles against that thing it'd be screwed.

  • now i understand why they work on this for so many years...i'm speechless

  • @waisehell

Remember this is a render though...

  • MAterials are also being used with fractal algorythims , remeber each planter contains each own unique set of minerals

  • if and only if the fractals could have been applied to generating infinitely different storylines.

  • great job mates. awesome

  • It means that the game world is generated mathematically, like a fractal, instead of being stored as data.

Look up how fractals work, it's basically the same.

  • Like the reality... the reality is fractal too :) and is true

  • procedural algorithms, infinity is all about procedural algorithms :) from cities to planets to star systems right up to the galaxy itself

  • @Naibasaki We need more procedural games, like Elite, Daggerfall, Darklands and Space Rangers 2 were! In fact if anyone knows other procedural PC games, please reply! :)

  • @HardWarUK

    Minecraft

if you play it you will lose all track of time :)

  • @Vechz Is that game procedural? I'll have to check! Thanks!

  • @HardWarUK

Minecraft is a sandbox construction game, inspired by Infiniminer, and created by Markus Persson, the founder of Mojang Specifications. The game involves players creating and destroying various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. The player takes an avatar that can destroy or create blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork across the various multiplayer servers in multiple game modes. The game world is infinite, and generated as you explore.

  • @HardWarUK Yes it is!

  • @Naibasaki cant wait till it gets to the entire milkyway then ;D

  • @Cry53r They've already done that part, look for "Infinity - Procedural real-time galaxy model" on here.

  • What interests me is: Do you use procedural algorithms in creating such a city-scenery? Or are they all set by hand (what a pain in the ass)...

  • "Procedural algorithm" Is redundant. Of course a city can be procedurally generated. The pain in the ass is generating the procedure. Really, computers are just numbers, so you can procedurally generate anything

  • EPIC...u guys should be sponsored ...seriously this stuff is great..ur sitting on alot of opportunity.. for this game.

  • @Ukiedude

As long as it's not EA.

  • @Naetrox haha.. very true very true, they really started butchering their stuff..lately

  • @kope7777

Is this actually in the engine of Infinity or is it just a "CG pre-render of the artists vision of what the finished product will look like"?

  • dude, that's insane... incredible render, i truly hope to see battles like this for real in the future!

  • Awesome!!!!

  • thats just evil... I mean... trying to destroy a massive ship over a city. Imagine the death toll with that thing falling over the buildings. Aside from that, GREAT VIDEO!
