@mickyboy200768 As far as I know the Chinese Empire is the only empire that always seems to land on it's feet, no matter what crisis you throw at them, they adapt to the new situation and end up on top. The Roman Empire lasted for over 1000 years before splitting into pieces, for the same reason.
Every empire in history has crumbled, because they failed to adapt. The US has a lot of dogma's around how things 'should be done'. If they can't get rid of them, they'll crumble as well eventually.

If the US falls; the Chinese economy goes with it as does everyone elses. The world trades in US dollars. Compare that the Ruple which is worth less than a penny on the very weak dollar. The world is to invested in the US economy to let it fail and the US is to invested in the world economy to let the fail. The US dollar is not dependent on Gold so the Federal Reserve drives down the price of Gold in the US as gold is in direct competition with the dollar. There is a unit of currency that was created in the early 90s called the SDR which is a combination of the Euro, The dollar and Gold. I'm actually surprised that it hasnt replaced the dollar already. But to do so anyone who has loaned money to the US is going to take a big hit on there investment. Personally, metal is the only way to go

The latest analysis by at least one, credible expert, is that the purchase of Alaska from Russia has not proved to be profitable. It takes more to support Alaska than she contributes. A drain on the US economy, actually and Alaska's role as a nearby entity to keep an eye on the Russians no longer serves any useful purpose.
My take though, is that Alaska will join Canada when the U.S. breaks up.
And Canada won't have to pay one, copper plated, zinc penny for it.

Oil is the engine of the world's economy. Petrodollars are the world's reserve currency,,, FOR THE MOMENT.
Anyone who has oil will do well, the price can only go up even in the face of recession. Nothing can compete with oil for it's relatively low cost.
When economies and currencies collapse, those with TANGIBLE resources, metals, minerals, oil, lumber, WATER will be well positioned for recovery.
The US has squandered much of her resources and is dependent on foreign supplies.

Meanwhile, the US is 6 trillion in DEBT with 40 trillion in unfunded liabilities. At least 50% of taxes go to pay the INTEREST with vey little left for the principle.

It's much worse than that. The US national debt is currently 11.7 Trillion and growing rapidly. That's $38,000 for every man, woman and child alive today in the US. Obama and company will at least double it by 2012.. The unfunded liabilities due to social security and medicare are closer to 63 Trillion. To put that in perspective, if you were to spend 1 million a day, every day, 63 Trillion will last 170,000 years.
