Because they are @ different heights, and you have different air layers which are more or less stable and more/less moist and that's the mean reason why some contrails stay visible in the air and other ones vanish very quick .

OMFG typical Hawkesbury moron, unless you have some credible background and education in jet engine combustion then don't make premature calls that a jet is leaving "chemicals" on you.Did you know there are several different types of jet fuel and jet turbines?? and some have a higher emmision rate then others, this might explain you "trails". Stop looking for excuses to explain you low brain cell count

hey dick guess what the chemical trail from a jet engine is actualy water vapor witch will disperce after a while and not stay all day getting larger so get a education and just go fuck yourself lol

The contrails that immediately fade are water vapor. The ones that stay all day are actually a type of artificial cirrus cloud made of ice crystals normally above 16,500 ft AGL and below -25 F. If it's warmer than that they go away, much like breathing on a window, if it's colder than that they stay. These atmospheric conditions generally mean a coming shift to a more active weather system.
