Classic Stuf ...How classic? Cash Money and Marvelous used the piano intro to one the their tracks back in the day....Goes to show, that good music touches everyone-even in to early days of hip hop when nobodys 9mm was loaded yet..
There is such a magical and something of childhood innocence when I hear this song, when you first fall in love with someone who to you was very special, who meant everything to you... a lifetime of wonderment to be 'till the last of your days... that we were meant to be together... painfully, I missed that opportunity by not being brave enough to take that moment of happiness...a moment now long gone... now I can only recall and wonder what could have been... what should have been...
@odiemodie1 oh, that's hard, but don't obsess over what could have been and should have been.. appreciate the people who love you and what you have.. <3
Thanks for posting! I used to have this album and have always thought Head Over Heels was lacking something without Broken at the end. I've been looking for this complete song for a long time...thanks again.
damn i m iss the eighties.... this song was the epitome of that era.... now todays music consists of smoking crack, joining a gang or being a fucking bonehead
Class of 86!!!!! They were on the best!!!!! God, I wish I could go back, just for a week!!!!! Best times, miss it so bad!!!!!! :( Alicia, from Michigan!!!
@TheGoingballistic The best suggestion I have is to get every record this group has made. TFF's music has always spoken to me and got me through hard times. When you listen to their stuff I think you'll know what I mean. That's the best help I can give. Peace bro! :)
listened to this tune in my garage on my cd player till my grandma kicked the door open and took my cd player and smashed it and then she beat the crap out of me gave me 2 black eyes she told me if i dont kill myself tonight she'll do it herserlf! shes high off drugs tho and my dad doesnt care cause he never sleep because of the black neighbors next door who blast the rap music can someone help me please??? i just want to listen to my tears for fears :(
THE BEST! Anyone who doesnt totally love this tune is tone deaf and doesnt have a clue what great music is. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS! I met my husband to this song. And we married to it. 20 years later and totally in love I just get chills when I hear it. Thanks for the memories
THE best , how could you not love this tune , got laid so ,many times to this , in the 80.s one if not the best bands of the 80.s dam great driving tune , !!!! allways max....
I blame American Idol for the constant influx of crap music nowadays, How about awarding innovation and originality instead of re-hashing the same drab sound again and again
@Phantomjudg3 this song came out when I was elementary school back in 1980s... i'm in my mid 30s now... ummmm, why is American Idol dictating anything .... this is old school in it's own way
@aripatrice Mine, too. This started a very long love affair when I heard this song. I got to see them in concert 20 years ago and in August. They are are still awesome!!!!
Courageous creative music...not predictable and keeps me surpised by its originalness. I like thier ability to come from ten places at once musically and artistically. Not your typical broken hearted song....its poetic and keeps me moving into my imagination towards new images in my mind....musically its is ever new.
@MultiCreativemind You put into words what I could never seem to say to describe TFF. Such beautiful songs, lyrics and music. Some of their best songs are on the albums and were never released as singles. I hope you have the collection and listen to them over and over again. I do. Right now two of my cd's are stuck in my car and I can't get them out. I'm so bummed.
The studio version of Head over Heels then transitions to the 'LIVE" version of Broken, which was recorded from this performance listed in this video as December of 1983. Listen at the end of the video, when they transition back to Broken, it is this version that appears on the Songs from the Big Chair album. A little "sweetening" and tweaking is done from the live version (such as the vocals at the end of Head over Heels..."funny how...time fliiieeeeesss..."
@geauxu2 1983? Very odd. They were still in "The Hurting" era then. And Broken doesn't really use synths. Are you sure it wasn't a little later, like maybe 1984? Anyways, I think it was recorded in '85 because it was released w/ SFTBC and did not come out as a single ever. I believe it about the tweaking. It would explain the transition of the audience cheering into the track "Listen" which comes right after "Broken".
@KungPowMeow the timing may seem a little early, but in the video of the concert in Dec. 1983, they talk about a couple of "new songs" and then go into HoH and Broken...I can't confirm if it is 83 or not, but that is how it is listed here on YouTube. 83/84/85 no matter, still a great group of songs!
@geauxu2 Yeah, I dunno. Roland's hair in that video is a little different then it was in '85. So it makes me think it could be the end of '84 but I dunno! haha
I sort of doubt that. The Broken on here sounds remarkably like the one Roland and Curt recorded in the studio. And from all the performances I've seen, TFF has a very distinct sound when they play live. Maybe the whole performance was just synced and was technically "live"? Who knows. Although I also find it odd they would mix in a live performance with a song recorded in the studio.
