Reagan cut middle-class wages for his famous "tax cut for the middle class." So why did middle class wages GO DOWN over the next two years? Because their employers knew that they were taking home more, and they were willing to work for less.

You make a common error in not seeing the concept of money as a relationship. If money is witheld from the economy, it does not exist.

So, with working people, when taxes go up, wages go up. When taxes go down, wages go down.

When the average worker's taxes go up, wages eventually follow. When taxes go down, wages will go down. Inflation-adjusted take home pay remains the same. For the last 60-70 years this has happened over & over & over again. Check out the numbers for yourself.

Reagan cut top marginal rates on millionaires and billionaires from 74% down to 38% and there was an immediate surge in the markets, then the worst crash since the Depression and the failure of virtually the entire nation's savings and loan banking system. Bush I cut taxes, and the nation fell into a severe recession while debt soared and wages for working people fell.

When the rich are heavily taxed, economies prosper and wages for working people steadily rise. When taxes are cut for the rich, working people suffer and economies turn into casinos.

There are other taxes besides the income tax. There are also plenty of taxes foisted on employers which forces them to fire workers. There's also inflation to consider.

Even if pay and taxes did equal out (which they don't) if less people are employed everyone does worse.

I would probably qualify as lower middle class but I think if we pay taxes at all we should all pay an equal share. If the government cannot fund its bullshit programs and agendas with what they steal we shouldn't do them.

I worked in a hosptial as an oncology tech on a wing for end-stage cancer patients. I lost my job & had to retire early because of my knee and hernias--which Blue Shield did not pay for. My wife worked for home health & hospice full time. Now she works on call.

Blue Shield (get your FACTS straight) did not cover the kind of hernia surgery I had, but because 3 doctors said not doing anything could be life-threatening or at the very least a "bad outcome" I had to use my retirement money. I now get SS disability which brings my monthly income to about $2000. My Blue Shield premium payment just went up from $500 to 600
