Let's get it right , i mean i like a bit of Otis but he's got to be one of the most over-rated Soul singers ever. OV Wright , Sam Cooke and James Carr were much better , even Solomon Burke and Bobby Bland . All you Otis fans , time to dig a little deeper........
@shackbhoy yea but dude man otis took it to the next level ppl were ready to dance and he gave it to him music is a circle ppl take from it what they may and then add their own little piece of the circle. and further more these old artist yes great IDK if they wrote all of their works and artist that came later had way better vocal ranges and abilities. not mister redding but others so live and let be I dont like this new rap retard kalifa or w.e but hey you cant stop the music man
@Untilshereturns sure , you're right i was just trying to get some folks that maybe liked Otis etc to try some other stuff , get into some great singers they maybe hadnt heard , peace .......

Great version by Buddy Miller's Majestic Silver Strings last night at the Grammy Museum. I knew the song mainly from Otis Redding, but they credited it to O.V. Wright. Glad to hear this.
i never ever heard of this oh so gifted man..like an idiot i thought Ottis was the original of this song ...don't get me wrong Ottis and this tune are great... but this man truly owns this song .learn something new everyday..thank god i am still learn'en.
My favourite Otis song ... and how special it is to be listening to this version right now, which I never knew about..... Absolutely beautiful. Musicians of today stand on some very wide shoulders of great artists of yesterday
What a great song. I always thought Otis Redding's version was the original and still enjoy it a little more, but this is a cool find. The Rolling Stones did a pretty good version also back in the 60's.
@matthewmckines OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS???? WOW!!!! I guess that explains why his voice/style of singing made me think of someone else!!!! O.V. was a "beast" back in the day. Thank you so much for that "little known fact"....at least "for me" anyway....lol
@molinar4 Yeah this song is beautiful. I do feel it was cut short though... towards the end.. I'm not sure if the song is supposed to fade out like that. Hmm.
Thank you so much for this! Beautiful job. I love O.V., but this is the first time I've heard his version of this song -- and I like his version better than Otis Redding's. O.V. and Percy Sledge -- I could listen to those guys all day. Thanks again!
If I were a fish... that had been cast upon the land I would stand there yeah if you would let me hold your hand Evend be the wind from around a storm Id stop for a moment and walk you home Ooh that's how strong... That's how strong... my... my love is That's how strong my love is Theres another thing I wanna tell you little darling:
He gets nowhere near the credit he deserves vocally. I say he's the third best of all time behind Sam Cooke and James Carr. This version far surpasses Otis Redding's in sheer passion and vocal interpretation of the lyrics. This is what soul music is supposed to be. Shame he will never make any serious greatest singer of all time lists because magazines play into popularity contests and other foolish things. Never the less as they say the proof is in the O.V.
This man was somebody's singer truly he was one of the best! My grandfather talks about him all the time he sung with Wright for about 6yrs in the Sunset Travelers out of Memphis Tennesee. From the stories my grandfather tells,Wright was character lol and their are alot of them. It's a shame how this great man died. Blind, broke and a junkie so sad. He is a true legend who died before he could recieve his due.
do anyone know where to find the lyrics of this version thx
