  • do anyone know where to find the lyrics of this version thx

  • Love This....So very real! Thank you Mr. Wright for sharing your gift with us here on earth...Rest in Peace.......

  • great song

  • Awesome, I had only heard this by Otis Redding & The Rolling Stones, this sounds to be a completely different song. I thank you for posting this.

  • Let's get it right , i mean i like a bit of Otis but he's got to be one of the most over-rated Soul singers ever. OV Wright , Sam Cooke and James Carr were much better , even Solomon Burke and Bobby Bland . All you Otis fans , time to dig a little deeper........

  • @shackbhoy yea but dude man otis took it to the next level ppl were ready to dance and he gave it to him music is a circle ppl take from it what they may and then add their own little piece of the circle. and further more these old artist yes great IDK if they wrote all of their works and artist that came later had way better vocal ranges and abilities. not mister redding but others so live and let be I dont like this new rap retard kalifa or w.e but hey you cant stop the music man

  • @Untilshereturns sure , you're right i was just trying to get some folks that maybe liked Otis etc to try some other stuff , get into some great singers they maybe hadnt heard , peace .......

  • @shackbhoy so true dude ppl need to expand their horizons after the song otis ppl are gonna think rockafella created soul lol

  • Otis who ?

  • this song has ALWAYS been a favorite, which I still listen to weekly. O.V. Wright sun g from the heart and soul of a black man.

  • Great version by Buddy Miller's Majestic Silver Strings last night at the Grammy Museum. I knew the song mainly from Otis Redding, but they credited it to O.V. Wright. Glad to hear this.

  • red wuz here

  • What U know about this ? :-)*~~~

  • ponyboy--aka red bka killa all day ary day

  • this is one of the greatest songs, ever O.V. is the man, Lou thimes, used to play this every Sat,in the S T L. MO.

  • this is one of the greatest songs, ever O.V. is the man lou fatha times used to play this every saturday,in the S T L.MO

  • I cant make up my mind, again its one of my all time Absolute favourites-

both Overton and Otis put their blessing on it in thier very own special ways..

They shure dont make em like this anymore

  • I love both versions. They are both so different to each other.

  • This original pretty good than Otis Redding

  • I'm sorry but Otis Redding's Version Pwns this one. Just like Hendrix with All Along the Watchtower.

  • great song

  • i never ever heard of this oh so gifted man..like an idiot i thought Ottis was the original of this song ...don't get me wrong Ottis and this tune are great... but this man truly owns this song .learn something new everyday..thank god i am still learn'en.

  • what a beautiful song. they really don't make them like this anymore

  • I want to fall inlove and then cry.. thats what happens anyway..

  • BYRD & BROWN did Gospel!

    For about a day!

  • just AMAZING , his voice is great, one of the best i have ever heard....

  • When music DIDN'T SUCK.

  • No words!

  • Babes I nubz dat

  • you come to hate the fading at the end of these old RnB records..... you'd go on listening for hours!!!!

  • nobody can touch this

  • Absolutely beautiful - my favourite single of all time .

  • Ya'll get ready to hear Eugene Quinn of The Rattlesnakes do this jam. Bay area blue eyed soul at its best!

  • My favourite Otis song ... and how special it is to be listening to this version right now, which I never knew about..... Absolutely beautiful. Musicians of today stand on some very wide shoulders of great artists of yesterday

  • What a great song. I always thought Otis Redding's version was the original and still enjoy it a little more, but this is a cool find. The Rolling Stones did a pretty good version also back in the 60's.

  • i love this song soooo much, we had it played at my grandmas funeral last year and listen to it everyday since that day! fantastic :)

  • i loved otis back in the day, buut ov wright owns it sung like an angel

  • wow. have known otis redding's (and the stone's) version for 25 years, but just heard this. it's pretty different, and yes, it's a lot deeper.

  • yes yes yes yes i love it

  • Reverend Cleophus Robinson is his brother. Jessie Jackson's pastor

  • @matthewmckines OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS???? WOW!!!! I guess that explains why his voice/style of singing made me think of someone else!!!! O.V. was a "beast" back in the day. Thank you so much for that "little known fact"....at least "for me" anyway....lol

  • I am partial to the otis Redding version of this is song, but this one(the original) is quite awesome

  • me too Bariwon1 i heard it too

  • Southern music

  • Otis

don't even touch the surface of this .

    O.V. is the ultimate .

  • otis redding has a version of this song too and it is also amazing too!!

  • Mercy played this song. I love the show and the song fit in perfectly.

  • @ResonatedBeauty i know i watched the show the other night and well when i heard the song i got chills so i just had to look for it and i Love it!

  • @molinar4 Yeah this song is beautiful. I do feel it was cut short though... towards the end.. I'm not sure if the song is supposed to fade out like that. Hmm.

  • @ResonatedBeauty Yes it was beautiful. Sad episode, though.

  • i heard this song on tonight's episode of Mercy

  • that's what i heard it on also!!!

  • @Bariwon1 the version you heard was by otis redding though :) i like this version but otis's version touchs my soul

  • This is an incredible version of this song...but I think Taj Mahal has the best cover!

  • iggy pop's version is the damn best yo

  • @doshuang i dont think so

  • yes, right

  • Thank you so much for this! Beautiful job. I love O.V., but this is the first time I've heard his version of this song -- and I like his version better than Otis Redding's. O.V. and Percy Sledge -- I could listen to those guys all day. Thanks again!

  • I love Otis but O.V. Wright is tops. James Carr is right up with them.

  • @DGVee

  • The songs much better with the backing, where is it?

  • Great song, but I have to say that I like Otis Redding's version better.

  • Does anybody have a link to the version sang by Otis Redding? I'd love to have it.

  • so different from what it would become by Otis and the Stones.. This is the ONE>

  • O.V. definitely did his damn thing with this song, but to me, nobody's version is better than Ottis Redding's!

  • you got that right!

  • Fantastic! First time i have heard this in over 35 years! Thank you!

  • damn

  • good song!!

  • very nice soul song i love it and beautiful voice

  • If I were... the sun up there
I would glow with love... everywhere
Evend be the moon when the sun go down
So you could see...

So you can see that I'm still around

    Ooh that's how strong...

    That's how strong...

    my love is
That's how strong my love is

Theres one more thing I wanna say:

  • If I were a fish... that had been cast upon the land I would stand there yeah if you would let me hold your hand Evend be the wind from around a storm Id stop for a moment and walk you home Ooh that's how strong... That's how strong... my... my love is
That's how strong my love is Theres another thing I wanna tell you little darling:
  • If I were a weeping willow

    drown in my own tears

    You could go swimming

as long as you were near

    Evend be the rainbow

    after my tears are gone

    I would oh...

    wrap you in my colors

    and I would oh..

    keep you warm

  • I just heard that Song on Swiss TV showing Boston Legal.I was in love from the first tune to the last.

Now thats Music Ladys and Gentleman!

  • He gets nowhere near the credit he deserves vocally. I say he's the third best of all time behind Sam Cooke and James Carr. This version far surpasses Otis Redding's in sheer passion and vocal interpretation of the lyrics. This is what soul music is supposed to be. Shame he will never make any serious greatest singer of all time lists because magazines play into popularity contests and other foolish things. Never the less as they say the proof is in the O.V.

  • The Greatest single ever, in ANY genre .

  • A classic gem !!!,.ktf.

  • Nice song ! Good post.

  • this is soul at its best what a voice

  • this song reminds me of "stand by me"

  • As pure as it gets!!

  • whew!

takes my breath away - takes me to another place. what a powerful passionate voice - makes you feel alive just to hear it...

    thanks for posting this.

  • the original version of OV Wright is better largement than the Otis Redding version.Yet i love both.

  • This man was somebody's singer truly he was one of the best! My grandfather talks about him all the time he sung with Wright for about 6yrs in the Sunset Travelers out of Memphis Tennesee. From the stories my grandfather tells,Wright was character lol and their are alot of them. It's a shame how this great man died. Blind, broke and a junkie so sad. He is a true legend who died before he could recieve his due.

  • God bless your Grandfather!

  • never heard this version..excellent thanks for the post

  • its great when you an original after thinking there wasn't one! i always thought it was an otis song..and I thought I knew southern soul too!

  • thats soul.........5*
