I got a serious question. Why is the cross considered such a holy symbol just because Jesus died on it, when the long history of the cross repesented a old traditional method of execution for hundreds of thounsands of criminals? Remember, according to the scripture, two criminals were hung on the cross next to jesus. Is the cross a dark holy symbol or totally misleading? Also, why did the ku klux klan burn the cross. I need serious answers.

@360gooden, the Cross signifies SACRIFICE. Love is a sacrifice. The cross at one time signified shame for criminals. But since Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can be reconciled to God, it is considered a symbol of sacrifice, mercy and love.

Those two criminals could represent us; one who does not believe and/or accept God's mercy and the other how fully trusted in His mercy & begged for Jesus to remember him. That "criminal" is now in heaven with Jesus.

@360gooden, we in the Cathoilc Church know the one thief who trusted in the mercy of Jesus as St. Dismas. I always want to say, "Remember me when you go into your Kingdom!" We consider him the "Good thief" or the "Penitent Thief."

He could have chosen to be born in luxury - he chose utter poverty surrounded by the outcasts of society. He lived His life in poverty and surrounded himself with sinners tax collectors - outcasts ... so why would He choose to die in any other manner? So you see by these things the cross become a very appropriate symbol not just of His his loving sacrifice but also of His entire way of life.

@360gooden The cross is considered such a Holy symbol exactly because of what you say ... it was indeed " traditional method of execution for hundreds of thounsands of criminals" and Christ showed both his love and utter humility when He allowed Himself to be hung on it. To be hung from a tree naked in public was the greatest shame a Jew could imagine ... Jesus was born in the lowest condition possible - in poverty in a dirty cold hard stable - even though his parents had a home in Nazareth...

Why do people pray to Mary when Jesus specifically says "No one comes to the Father but by ME?"

Why does the Catholic church teach that abstaining from sex is a path to holiness, when mankind has ZERO holiness? Do they not know God COMMANDED them to be fruitful and multiply?

If the virgin Mary never sinned why did she, in the book of Luke, OFFER SACRIFICES at the Temple?

John, when we pray to Mary we are asking for her intercession. We want her to pray for us because she is so close to Jesus. She magnifies the Lord!

Your 2nd question makes me chuckle. Of course we know that God said to be fruitful & multiply! Are you single & sexually active? If you're married, do you use artificial contraception? If so, please do not ask such questions.

John, the Virgin Mary brought a scrifice out of humility & obedience. She's not going to bring attention & scandal to herself by NOT bringing a sacrifice. She was very modest, humble & obedient.

Not everything Jesus did was written in the Bible, Jn21:25. We do have Sacred Tradition you know, 2Thes 2:15.

John, the book of Machabees explains Purgatory. Oh well, you don't have it in your bible because Luther pulled it out. He didn't like the idea of Purgatory so he pulled it. shame shame.

But it is in 1 Cor 3:12-15 also! and in 1 Peter 3:18-20; and also 1 Peter 4:6.

Show me "Trinity" in the bible. You will not find that word. But the Holy Trinity as it is taught in the Church is definitely in the bible and I know you are aware of that.

Thank you. But thank the Holy Spirit first & foremost. There is only one quote from a Saint in this video & one prayer, the rest of the video is scripture verses; so most of this video is scripture verses.

I love what St. Francis de Sales says about the cross of Christ. When I read the quote it gives me consolation. Then I read the bible verses and I know St. Francis is correct in what he says about any cross given to us by God is a GIFT of LOVE & Mercy!

by cross do you mean difficulty or trial because of being Jesus disciple? Thats what I take it to mean rather than being a physical cross. St Francis was a very sincere person following Christ. A good example for all of us.

Yes, that exactly what I mean. But I do have crosses & crucifixes as reminders of how Jesus died for our sins and all the suffering He endured for me. It's good to know that I can unite my sufferings to His.

Do you even read the bible? I mean the WHOLE bible? Have you read the book of Revelation? Do you realize that God is OUTSIDE of time and that Jesus is on the cross still right now?

Jesus has risen from the dead but we do not say that. We say Jesus IS risen! We put things in present tense because everything is present tense to God. He is outside of time.

Read the book of Revelation with an open mind then get back to me. You will see that Jesus IS "still on the cross" also.

What does your comment have to do with my video? There are many Scripture verses in this video. There is only one quote by a Saint. The rest is all scripture verses. That quote goes along with all those verses that I put in the video. The quote from Saint Francis de Sales makes so much sense considering what Paul says in many of his letters.

The Catholic Church cannot and will not teach anything that goes against scripture. Jesus built His Church so of course they come together.
