  • Everything Proby did or does is class!

  • PJ Proby had some records that were very good and some weren't. After listening to about two thirds of this one I begin thinking ENOUGH ALREADY!! At some point drama becomes melodrama. The version The Cats did is a similar arrangement but it's a whole lot easier on the ears.

  • @psychodamned Perhaps but not because of my opinions on music. I know the difference between a Proby nonpareil and the times he ran out of ideas and resorted to wailing. This might have been better if he had recorded it earlier in the day ;^)

  • @DenimAllowed Yessss maybe on my prayer, but for me the whole arrangement and vocal expression that Jim puts into this song makes the Cats version seem pale. Plus thier diction wasn't too good. For me Beleive it or Not was a undiscovered work of Genius between songwriter and a much overlooked interpreter of song. He may have been eccentric, but never boring !

  • @psychodamned I wasn't reviewing Believe It Or Not. This track is far outclassed by some other tracks on that album. With the wad of gum Proby had in his mouth he doesn't deserve any awards for diction either and the chatter at the end sounds like mindless nervous filler. Proby wasn't boring but he stretched his voice beyond its limits and outsang this song, stripping it of its musicality and leaving only pain. Theatrics won out over the music, which doesn't seem to bother some Proby junkies.

  • I'm spellbound by this Truely Wonderful singer, P.J.Proby.

  • This is one of his best ever. The lp was a truly overlooked classic !
