I like and respect all peoples & cultures. To me as an American I see Britain as Islamic not Christian. If the Christian church in Britain wants to introduce Sharia law to the country then that is what the majority of people there want.

It is true that Muslims did copy and popularize the works of Greeks and Hindus, but no civilization is born in a vacuum. All civilizations have used the achievements of previous civilizations.

The reality is that as head of state the Queen has no power and is purely symbolic. The practical reality is that the UK is a secular state, run by a secular parliament. Lets stick to religion being the belief in a divine being that has revealed his will through a prophet(s)/Son in the flesh which because they are the word of God cannot be challenged. This thinking can and should be removed from public policy. Policy should be based on rational practical reason and critic. E.g. If someone opposes stem cell research only because it is against God's will then I totally dismiss their opinion.

But religion leaves too much to be exploited, as you say. I feel that if we all just accepted the impossibility and indeed irrelevance of knowing which prophet or God or whatever was right, and instead focused on helping one another, this world would be a lot better place to live in. How does proposing the pre-existence of some highly complex entity help? Complex entities have turned up late in the life of the universe: molecular cloud then solar systems then planets then life. So the starting entity is likely to be very simple not very complex.

Language ability is also from the physicality of the brain, and different languages arise much the same way evolution works, except tends to happen much much faster.
