The station was in trouble for a long time. CBS radio didn't go bankrupt. Leykis had nothing to do with it. The pay cut stunt was a PR move. T he station wasn't pulling in enough ad revenue and corporate accountants saw potential for a much higher revenue stream. I've worked for both radio and TV stations. That's how it works. If the talent worked for FREE it wouldn't have made a difference. Talent expenses are chicken feed compared to ad revenue. I promise I'm right about this.

This was my favorite station for years, I heard this show on air. @2:29 Heidi singing Womanizer was just a preview of what to come and I didn't listen to the station when they switched over. Weeks later I wanted to see why they went to the new format (same as a few already out) , I swear to (blank) "Womanizer" was playing.
Negotiations are always a tough issue but it seems that these people make it look like they were one vote short of passing out new contracts for all. In fact, they negotiated for themselves. If they felt like taking pay cuts, thats on them. Some people know their worth and will not settle for less. In this market, the money is there, always existing. Advertisers were not going away so why cut people's pay? The real story is probably that the station ownership probably wanted out no matter what.
If I'm looking out for me and mine..fuck the guy next door. Nobody should feel obligated to take a pay cut. If they can't afford to keep their workers they shouldn't have hired so many. Plus I'm sure none of these guys are 'hurting', it's not like they're homeless and got fired from Mickey D's.

Listening to FHF shows since then I think Leykis's lawyer must have had a talk with Frank after he said these comments on the final day of 97.1. so of course he had to appologize. If you downloaded their podcast at the time when their contract was renewed for 1 year extention with CBS they said on that podcast if they didn't sign CBS would have put Danny Boneduche in their timeslot and FHF.

This was my favorite station for years, I heard this show on air. @2:29 Heidi singing Womanizer was just a preview of what to come and I didn't listen to the station when they switched over. Weeks later I wanted to see why they went to the new format (same as a few already out) , I swear to (blank) "Womanizer" was playing.

Negotiations are always a tough issue but it seems that these people make it look like they were one vote short of passing out new contracts for all. In fact, they negotiated for themselves. If they felt like taking pay cuts, thats on them. Some people know their worth and will not settle for less. In this market, the money is there, always existing. Advertisers were not going away so why cut people's pay? The real story is probably that the station ownership probably wanted out no matter what.

Frank Kramer is a complete moron. The station didn't go under because of Tom Leykis, CBS thought they would make more money changing the format to Top 40. Talk radio is dying. Even if Leykis and everyone on 97.1 took a pay cut, CBS would STILL change the format. CBS is still paying Tom Leykis' salary through 2012, even though he's not on the air. The format change was THAT worth it to CBS, that they would throw millions of dollars out the door on Tom Leykis.

Tom Leykis deserves the same as everyone at that station if you want to be fair, which was being fired. Which is what happened. Leykis just had a better multi-year contract. He may have been #1 in his timeslot but FHF where #1 in thier timeslot. It was a economic decision other wise KLSX would still be doing the talk format. The only guys that didn't get fired where Danny Bonaduche who does his show in Philadelphia and John and Jeff who have a syndicated show overnights.

I have went back and listened to old shows and Unfortunately,Frosty Hiedy and Frank are not being completely honest here. After they signed for one more year with 97.1 they had a whole show about it. They said in their show that if they had not taken the contract CBS would have moved Danny Bonaduche into their time slot.So, FHF didn't take a pay cut to help CBS they took a pay cut to save their jobs.
