These scientists and biologists should consider cloning the Barbary Lion. That way the subspecies can be reintroduced in North Africa. Man has brought the Barbary Lion to near extinction (with only about 100 captive individuals) & they can correct their mistake by bringing this subspecies back from the brink of extinction.
The concept of shooting an animal just for a "trophy" is incredibly arrogant. I have no issue with ethical hunting as long as the hide, meat, etc. are properly taken and used. However, to shoot an animal in it's prime just so you can say you did is the opposite of "ethical" sportsmanship. Taking an animal in it's prime only denies it's potential contribution to future generations and strokes the ego of the hunter. Neither are very noble outcomes...

I think, we should prevent 'Killing for Fun" and prevent hunting as much as possible... as long as there is still a male and a female lion, there is hope... So we should save the lion to the very end even if there is only 1 male or 1 female lion left, we should at least preserve them and make sure it lives it's life to the fullest...
