@Dunkleosteus9 Its the artful sounds and FEELING of this version that make it great. Those back-up vocals & Jorma's guitar round it out into somethin special. Unique. I grew up with the studio version and the first time I found this vid I was amazed. Grace is great here. As well as the others. VERY unique. Somethin rare to the ears,,,for me anyways. I play guitar so I know that "precise" guitar work is not the most important thing. But peace to you dear.
Love this song and Grace does a very fine job. Of course I prefer Jorma's, but that was the only version I knew of before today. This one might grow on me :-) However, the band flat out nails it no matter who is the vocalist.
The group must have thought that Slick's rendering was too passionate and preferred giving the lead to Kaukonen's more detached approach when recording the studio version a few weeks later. (The cronology I have read on wikipedia). I think the group's decision was absolutely right. I have always considered this also as the first Hot Tuna's recording. With "Coming Back to Me" my favourite Airplane's tune.
the best live version i think is on the live album Sweeping up the spotlight, from the fillmore east in 1969,iyou can buy it on cd,jormas guitar is amazing on that version
SING IT GRACIE!!!! ♥ Love ths and thanx for posting "Jenny" xx Peace to youuu!

It's the precise guitar work on the studio version that makes this song.

Meh, it's interesting but the CD isn't worth buying unless you're a hardcore JA fan.
