@jabran12345 no what you see it i send players to cover a guy (using Rb) and when they're close enough I let go of the button and they automatically do a tackle (depends on player and position too but works most of the time.) If not I'll switch to that player and do a manual standing tackle. and i also dont send players after the guy with the ball all the time, I am smart about when and where I send them. and yes, they do give away silly penalties, but hey don't we all haha

its pretty simple, fifa is so realistic that you apply real football tactics and they will work for you. if your oppenent is breaking at you with a messi or ronaldo like player dont dive in, dont try to keep the offside trap for too long as your CB's pass will be no match instead drop back like a safety would in american football and look to intercept or get their as soon as the ball does.

There's a reason why you have second man press.. let him mark the man on the ball while closer to the half line. use your player to mark the runner. the ones making the dangerous cuts through your defence. when the ball gets closer to your defence, its easier to jockey, but jockey isn't that easy either. it's not gonna help like the SUPER 'A' button in fifa 11. judge the run backwards while trying to snach the ball while on jockey. ya feel me bros? Have anyone noticed that ur players are sometimes very sharp and do all pases perfectly win physical duels and defend pefrectly. and sometimes they make mistakes what looks like on purpose.. when people pass straight into u and the ball gets between ur legs and ends up in ur goal. Idk if i am the only one noticing this but i think it can be activated. u can tell by the fact that ur players are creating space without using trigger run or 1-2 and u just pass the ball with A/X and outplay defence

My golden tip is to keep the line, when the opposition is running forward and you keep the line running with them infront of them, they really start to hesitate, most people either desperatley knock it forward making it an easy tackle for your defender or a midfielder can catch up and snatch it from behind, but be careful not to leave them with space for a shot or an easy through ball.

My GOLDEN tip: Don't go rush forward with your whole team every time you get the ball. This can cause your defence to also move up. This often causes your defence to leave very large open spaces when you lose the ball (and they also have to run backwards). Try playing with 2 forwards and 1 attacking midfielder, so the rest of your team can be focused on defending instead of attacking ;)

So basically, defense is not as aggressive as it used to be. It is kinda boring though, having to back down your whole team and wait for a mistake (this is hard even in Professional, because the AI is smart as F***, and easily dodges your tackles and containing techniques). I hate when I successfully tackle an enemy but my player won't go after the ball and keeps running... -_-

My top tip:

Go 4 back, keep defenders in formation strictly, Jockey wingers attempting to cross at all times, 4-5-1 formation works well with 2 CDMs, 2 Wingers and 1 CAM for support of attacker. Practice jockeying against smaller clubs and figure a strategy that would suit the back 4 or 5. And for goodness sake don't use the offside trap!!!!!!!!!

I play in the second division and my best tip is to charge. Do this by selecting your CB and holding sprint. In the last two seconds before you reach the player with the ball, press whatever button you assigned slide tackle to. Timing isn't important.

The biggest help is pressing with another player, and doubling the mark. It doesn't hurt to make sure you're balanced or defensive, either. Putting ultra-aggressive on is the biggest mistake.

fifa 12 has a worst defending AI system than the previous series, a lot of the times defenders just run in front of or stay in the same line of the striker, ultimately causing an easy one on one situation for the opposition because striker runs faster than def. The marking system is pretty much not working well.

and the jockey button only gives the attacker more space to dribble, and the player def to get raped.

the better dribbling system only makes it harder for the player to defend

Seriously guys, there is almost no difference in defending from F11 to F12. The only thing new is this Player Impact Engine which feels a bit more lifelike (sluggish) than static. The biggest tip I can tell you is to be patient, drop back to build your defensive numbers, and constantly look at your defensive formation and cut off passing lanes. Use second press only when the opponent is nearing your penalty box. Good luck, and remember to keep a cool head.

Defending tips don't matter when you play Legendary level against the CPU. They will always find a way through since your defenders move out of position and open up holes themselves, even if you have the best in the world.

a good tip that everybody should know is that, when you are defending and the opponent player stops and will probably turn 180º to go the other way, stop holding A or X and the dashing button and make your player go the other way manually. If you do that when he stops, you'll be able to get the ball 90% of the times
