Wow! This really brought back some memories. I was about 4 when this came out, so I only watched it by luck when it was on TV. Still remember the music quite clearly. Now that I know how sanitized this and all other anime usually is when it is televised I go for the original. Does anyone know if the DVDs on Netflix are uncensored?
I did laugh at the fact that the little dude in this is some kinda testube weirdo that can't speak properly, unlike the witty smack talking baddass in the original :)
And the voice overs declaring, 'Don't worry, they've just been knocked out and will be okay in a few hours.' ahahaha. Better times.
Ever seen one of those annoying kids running around pretending their hand was a jet or rocket or something? That was me with this cartoon... so lame, lol, it was AWESOME during it's time
@DoUrden458 douurden, the cartoon known as G-force was actually a translated anime from japan. The r2-d2 character was added to the american version to make the cartoon more kid freindly and to add comic relief. The japanese version doesnt have the 7-zark-7 robot.
@blackshogun77 just like most japanese 80's cartoons they had to tone it down. lame. if you have the dvd of this show watch the japanese version of the episode.that shits hardcore. the updated gatchaman episodes were on hulu.hail to the galactor lol
That red energy bar @ 1:20 inspired me as a kid, the artwork was amazing throughout, even though i wasn't too into the stories, i was transfixed with the artwork, my only occasional erk was when keeop would speak with that broken english , sometimes i liked it other times it was annoying and corny... still i was just getting to an age where 'cartoons' were old hat, but this was good to view the imagination of its creators.
"alein galaxies from beyond space" wtf? then where are they then. and I saw some star wars rip off the words floating in space and the robot that looks like r2d2 oh well I still think it was awsome
oki i guess it would have been as thats a name that i always heard as a kid, G force must have meant alot to alot of people., As the Group Greater than one , names a album called G force
The opening to this show should have been something more dramatic..."Earth: 2030 A.D." would appear on the screen and then melt away as the rear of The Phoenix came into view. The opening music should have been "Play the game tonight" by Kansas...with no fruity narration.
And, of course, all of the original violence and "adult situations" should not have edited out!!
Let me just say that the theme song to this cartoon is a freakin TESTAMENT to the long lost tender loving care given to musical arrangements of shows from long ago... For reasons such as this, great arrangers and real musicians, that truly understand music are a dying breed and its a damn shame.
@mrjazz2u You make an important point. I hadn't thought of it until you mentioned it but we have lost something important and unique. These seemingly unimportant theme songs were truly works of art. Wish we could bring it back!
I loved this show as a kid. I used to run around the house with a housecoat as my cape. Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for posting this. :)

I used to love this, and was it just me who fancied Princess? It was the obscenely short dress that did it.

unutautare2 - actually, battle of the planets came out 5 years prior to star wars in Japan. It was released in the US 1 year after star wars.

On 0.28, his finger presses down between buttons.
On 0.44, '...alien galaxies, from beyond space...' Huh?
On 1.27, 'invincible' rather decreases any dramatic tension from the coming adventure.
