I was in borneo with 45 Regt RA.(176 bty.) We were in a position with A&S H'ders. It might have been Tebedu, but I was in a number of positions 1964-65.I was attached to SBS at Sematan, then back on Guns at Padawan,Sereiki,Plama Mapu,Tebedu and some places I can't recall.Used to do sea patrols in Geminis at Sematan,up passed Turtle Islands up by Tanjong Datu,What a life!! The Indo's were gun-running round the Point. We worked in conjunction with the Royal Navy.I could go on,but I'm off to bed!
I am a Malay Scots-Irish. My mother is from Glasgow and my father from Kuching, Sarawak. It is interesting how it is a Scottish force in my beloved Sarawak. I was born in Borneo and find this one of those interesting intersections between both my paternal and maternal side. One world.
I served with the Medics at Sibu in 1965.. The camp was just by the airfield. Your video made me hear the chit chats and think of Tiger-Tops. A long time ago when we were young guys and up for anything. Cheers mate keep it going.
My Uncle Ian is in this around 40 secs in...hasn't changed just matured, still remember him coming home on leave walking down a Glasgow Street in the 60's smart as punch in his full dress kilt...nobody said a word they just looked in awe, at a very, very, smart soldier serving his country.
well respect to all the soldiers that have and currently are serving at the moment, this videos pretty good i showed my dad said it brings back memories :)
@hemershe my uncle bill was also in the special forces section in the raf regiment, before he transfered to the a&sh and remained with them till he retired as a wo1 after 24 yrs, he came out and retired into civy street and had everything to live for when he was tragicly killed in a road traffic accident that was not his fault, i had the privilage to meet a lot of his old comrades at his funeral, including my hero LT,COL Mitchell himself, and he spoke very highly of my uncle bill matthews,
Thks spyug Tha twas the jungle campain against coominist aggression. Argylls were with the Gurkha Brigade in there soyou can imagine the havock they caused lol
Thanks for all your done!!
