The story tells about a girl named Alessa who carries the demon inside her, and there is a diabolic cult in Silent Hill that wants to use this child to rebirth the Demon. They burned her but she created a new part of Alessa, a baby who was adopted by the protagonist Harry Mason. They must gather two parts to finally rebirth the Demon.

Bull, R.E 4 was good but clunky and boring after the first play through. The reason why I think R.E 5 is better, well since it has more unlocks and a engageing story while 4 was quite boring...

First Person Shooter? What the hell... R.E is TPS while Silent Hill is TP Puzzle game, to me Silent Hil lacks complete challenge with the puzzles and R.E does to but R.E is not a puzzle based game, I sure class my self as a gamer and Silent Hill has a simple stragey of hack, find and repeat. The bosses are simple and enemies cannot attck for crap unless it is Pyramid Head, the only real challange for Silent Hill. Silent Hill is gothic but the people involved are emo style.
Silent Hill was unique to Resident Evil upontill 4 after that Silent Hill became a SHELL of its former self while Resi tries to change at least i.e Zombies to the Urobourous (However you spell it)

I won't turn down a fun game to play but I love a complex game that will keep me playing for hours on end.

I dont find heather sexy at all, but thats what i like about her. for me shes one of the few female protagnists i've been able to really identify with. shes one of the few female characters with obvious weaknesses who overcomes them and is just a badass. Someone like Samus is just too obviously strong in the first place.
well thats the point too i guess. she's just normal. Like harry was. Silent hill doesn't give you macho super human protangists and sees youin the boots of a human you can relate to more, facing off against these nightmares. I Just liked that this was one of the first more down to earth and human female protagonists i'd seen in a game yet.

@JustAtyper, sorry it is a re-telling of the first game. It has the same characters for the most part...the only things that are missing are the industrial-bloody Otherworld and more than one monster variety. seems that Downpour will be takin a page from this..and Homecoming. hopefully more this game than Homecoming...Homecoming was lame. At least shattered memories tried its best to become a new chapter in Silent Hill. Homecoming was more like RE, and I LOVE RE but they are two different games.
@revenger210 well it would have felt more like a Silent Hill game, if it was the first Silent Hill game that came out. We are all used to the industrial blood soaked otherworld instead of the slightly bland Iceworld of Shattered Memories. For a re-telling of the first game, it was decent but far from being the best.

Because I would prefer the Heather Cheryl than the Shattered one who has dark hair, but I could be wrong. They might mean the Alessa part of Cheryl than the Heather Cheryl.
The game is just based off of a WHOLE DIFFERENT dimension of Silent Hill. Nothing to do with the real stories.

Homecoming was fucking lame, but Shattered Memories actually worked out fairly well...despite the monster factor, there is only one type...that disappointed me. but i loved the fact that the choices you made, changed the appearance of certain characters as well as the monsters themselves. so it was a step in the right direction from a different team...hopefully it leads to something greater.

Also, I discovered recently that Silent Hill 2 also had something similar with SM, that the game ending is decided upon how the player reacts to particular situations. However, I believe SM succeeded in that factor, as you knew from the beggining that the ending you got could describe a minor/major part of you.
@revenger210 thing is, i think shattered memories does not feel like a silent hill game because it's more like psychological thriller, not horror, in my opinion. it's a really nice game with all those new fancy features(like the echos and taking pics and even the mementos, which don't seem to change a lot in the playthrough but are all nice looking), despite the lack of puzzles and the chasing sessions, the latter, for me, being major downside to the game.
@fabinhoayres Yeah, that's true. I agree with you. There should have been some decent puzzles to keep us entertained (seriously, just shake a can?) and the chasing sessions... Well, they didn't work that good in the very end.

for all those who argue about main characters and genres.... Heather Mason is in my opinion the greatest protagonist i've ever had the honor to play as she is witty, thoughtful, gorgeous... and on top of all that she is REAL. Her character doesn't depend on brute strength or "intel" she relies solely on her own ability to comprehend and process thought, and before anybody says "well razor some characters just figure stuff out to easily" that's complete crap i'm 16 and solve puzzles faster.
@kingxrazor Yeah, I totally agree with you. I like Heather for those reasons. She portrays what a real human girl is: She has human emotions (revenge included, and she doesn't have those Earth-sized boobs that draw guys into liking women.

Although Resident Evil and SIlent hill are two completely different horror genres in my eyes and I mainly prefer the Bizarre-Silent Hill stuff, I must admit I think Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil 2 and 4 is still a better main character then any of those from SIlent Hill. But that's my point of view. :3
@JTV8923 I can't really compare Silent Hill and Resident Evil, because in my eyes they are both different genres, even though they are at the same time both horror games (except for the last Resident Evil which was more like an action game). Because while Resident Evil is the typical "Zombie Horror", I see SIlent Hill more as the "Supernatural/Bizarre/Mysterious" kind of Horror, aka two games I would play for two different moods.

@JAMiEneko The Room, Homecoming and Origins to an extent. Shattered Memories was a good game but it wasn't scary. The first three are the best in the entire series. I just hope Downpour lives up to the legacy they left. Book Of Memories certainly won't.
@JTV8923 yes they're the two biggest survival horror games, but one's an American based horror (jump scares and quick action) and one's based off Japanese horror (creepy environments and symbolism)

@EuphoricDuffer If you watch the making of video they explain that she was designed from the ground up to be realistically attractive, tbh they got it right. They give a very in depth explaination of how they achieved this in the making of Silent Hill 2, you should really watch it, the characters are extremely cleverly designed to make you view them in a specific way.

@lekkermary No, she's 17. Cheryl was 24, but she got fused back to Alessa when she went to Silent Hill and disappeared in her. The complete Alessa got the demon exorcised out of her, and manifested a new baby which Harry kept and named Heather.

I think a RE fan should say WHY he likes that series better than silent hill, and not saying it's a better series just because or under reasons that don't pertain to the quality of the game...how long a game is arguably doesn't make it any better or any worse of a game

Heather to me is the best Silent Hill character.
Still Resident Evil kicks the living daylights out of the Silent Hill saga.
But Silent Hill lasts longer as a game.

I dont find heather sexy at all, but thats what i like about her. for me shes one of the few female protagnists i've been able to really identify with. shes one of the few female characters with obvious weaknesses who overcomes them and is just a badass. Someone like Samus is just too obviously strong in the first place.

@JustAtyper, sorry it is a re-telling of the first game. It has the same characters for the most part...the only things that are missing are the industrial-bloody Otherworld and more than one monster variety. seems that Downpour will be takin a page from this..and Homecoming. hopefully more this game than Homecoming...Homecoming was lame. At least shattered memories tried its best to become a new chapter in Silent Hill. Homecoming was more like RE, and I LOVE RE but they are two different games.

We are all used to the industrial blood soaked otherworld instead of the slightly bland Iceworld of Shattered Memories. For a re-telling of the first game, it was decent but far from being the best.

@peanutbuttercrunc100 Actually, it isn't re-telling the story at all. A whole different game. From Cheryl's Memories when she was a teenager Which is the main part the ticked me off. Because I would prefer the Heather Cheryl than the Shattered one who has dark hair, but I could be wrong. They might mean the Alessa part of Cheryl than the Heather Cheryl.
The game is just based off of a WHOLE DIFFERENT dimension of Silent Hill. Nothing to do with the real stories.

Homecoming was fucking lame, but Shattered Memories actually worked out fairly well...despite the monster factor, there is only one type...that disappointed me. but i loved the fact that the choices you made, changed the appearance of certain characters as well as the monsters themselves. so it was a step in the right direction from a different team...hopefully it leads to something greater.

@peanutbuttercrunc100 I have to quite disagree. Although I did like Shattered Memories, I don't believe it truly was a Silent Hill game.
Also, I discovered recently that Silent Hill 2 also had something similar with SM, that the game ending is decided upon how the player reacts to particular situations. However, I believe SM succeeded in that factor, as you knew from the beggining that the ending you got could describe a minor/major part of you.
Which is really scary if you think about it...

@revenger210 thing is, i think shattered memories does not feel like a silent hill game because it's more like psychological thriller, not horror, in my opinion. it's a really nice game with all those new fancy features(like the echos and taking pics and even the mementos, which don't seem to change a lot in the playthrough but are all nice looking), despite the lack of puzzles and the chasing sessions, the latter, for me, being major downside to the game.
anyway, where's heather's bra? lol

for all those who argue about main characters and genres.... Heather Mason is in my opinion the greatest protagonist i've ever had the honor to play as she is witty, thoughtful, gorgeous... and on top of all that she is REAL. Her character doesn't depend on brute strength or "intel" she relies solely on her own ability to comprehend and process thought, and before anybody says "well razor some characters just figure stuff out to easily" that's complete crap i'm 16 and solve puzzles faster.

Although Resident Evil and SIlent hill are two completely different horror genres in my eyes and I mainly prefer the Bizarre-Silent Hill stuff, I must admit I think Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil 2 and 4 is still a better main character then any of those from SIlent Hill. But that's my point of view. :3

@JTV8923 I can't really compare Silent Hill and Resident Evil, because in my eyes they are both different genres, even though they are at the same time both horror games (except for the last Resident Evil which was more like an action game). Because while Resident Evil is the typical "Zombie Horror", I see SIlent Hill more as the "Supernatural/Bizarre/Mysterious" kind of Horror, aka two games I would play for two different moods.

@JAMiEneko The Room, Homecoming and Origins to an extent. Shattered Memories was a good game but it wasn't scary. The first three are the best in the entire series. I just hope Downpour lives up to the legacy they left. Book Of Memories certainly won't.

@EuphoricDuffer If you watch the making of video they explain that she was designed from the ground up to be realistically attractive, tbh they got it right. They give a very in depth explaination of how they achieved this in the making of Silent Hill 2, you should really watch it, the characters are extremely cleverly designed to make you view them in a specific way.
