I am taking western pleasure riding lessons now and my trainer said I needed to get spurs. They talked about different levels of spurs. What does that mean and how do I know when I need to go up a level? Also what about spurs that have stationary verses interchangeable rowels? What is a good brand of spur and strap, I don't know very much about the spurs yet at this point and I don't want to get advantage of by a seller.

Hi This is Cowboy Jef the question posed. Is there a difference if you put the wide side or narrow side of the strap on the out side of the foot? I once had a new pair of spur straps I was very proud of the decoration on the wide side so I placed this on the outside to show off. Upon his first notice of this my Grandpa admonished me for this mistake. In all cases for safety sake the buckle always goes on the outside of the foot so as not to catch in the stirrup."KEEP YOUR SPURS A-JINGLIN"

Mr. Jeff, I have a question for ya. Most spur straps are pretty much the same in shape, they have the wide section and the skinny section...Well, I have always put the wide part over the outside of my foot, but here you have it on the inside...Is there really any difference at all?
