  • The Clash....the last great rock band. Haunted Joe to the end....the one that got away. Rest in peace. 9 years and 1 day.

  • Watching this makes me unbelievably happy. And sad. The world lost a poet and warrior for peace too soon. At least heaven will have a great band.

  • RIP Joe

  • love this song. rip strummer.... can anyone tell me what bhindi bhagee is???? cheers

  • @armarni123 Tolerance!

  • Comment removed

  • the one dislike is from the guy who sells mushy peas for a living.

  • @jcrown01 must be from New Zealand then.

  • @jcrown01 HA! Fuck I miss you Strummer. All the good ones are gone. There will never be another Strummer, Cobain, Hendrix. At least there are recordings.

  • 'Have to agree with the last few sentiments. Joe's music and singing was more developed as he matured and experimented with musical styles. The lytrics and music really complement one another. Ultimately, he and the Mecaleros were really having 'fun' again... :-R

  • Jesus...what a song. What a guy.

  • oh joe, joe, joe...

    i miss you so...

  • miss you joe you were my favorate mate (even if you did call at ungodly hours tellin me t olisten to this band or that band).

  • It sometimes seems that musicians who decide to fly solo are never as good as the band they became famous with. Not so with Joe Strummer. He was always great with The Clash, and man, do I love him with the Mescaleros. They put out some really strong albums together. I'll forever remember Joe Strummer as a decent, sensitive soul.

  • This guy gave off an energy that touched everyone even if you dont believe in that sort of stuff it still hit ya right in the heart, love you Joe and always will.

R.I.P. Joe and thanks for the music you left behind.

  • I love the beautiful comments about Joe...God Bless you my friend!

  • a man born to play music

  • Just to let you know Joe. We love you. Hope to meet you you in heaven. Cos thats where you are mate. You Rock.

  • Still get emotional thinking about Joe and how much he gave us in the way too short time he was here. I agree with what the others have said about the generous vibe you get from his music, and the fact that the stuff he was doing with the Mesacleros was getting better and better. There'll never be another like you, Joe...glad I knew you, if only through your music.

  • Wow. Thank you for posting this. Absolutely incredible!

  • One of a kind.

  • just a positive life force

  • We miss you Joe ... We miss you so much!

  • Great. Just fuckin' great

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT

  • Love this song!

  • Ghod this fucking rocks. Lost for words.

  • RIP JOE STRUMMER this is one of my favorite songs EVER

  • I think this vid best captures what a Joe Strummer concert felt like. The previous commenters have it right: Joe Strummer was an absolute joy, and did his best to share that with the rest of us.

  • Still hoping for a high quality audio version of THIS song. Anyone know where to go?

  • 100 club featured in the clash song - "Deny"!

  • second best gig of all time - (behind The Specials, of course)

  • "I said, 'No' "! LMFAO.

Joe is all of W10, innit

  • The biggest thing I get from this song, especially watching it performed live, is the absolute joy in Joe Strummer's words and music. There's such a feeling of hope, of generosity, of respect and tolerance in these five minutes. He may not be with us, but he'll always be with us, you know?

  • @emmbee I know!

  • Hope, generosity, respect and tolerance - beautifully put, @emmbee, that's the perfect epitaph for Joe Strummer.

  • @emmbee Man you nailed that!!! I miss this guy every day!!!

  • Joe understood that passion is the only fashion. Joe was a genius blend of anger, intelligence and energy. Can't believe he's gone. What are we gonna do now?

  • THE FINEST PAGE ON THE INTERNET.

  • YES IT IS. 100% agree!

  • Ive got this programme recorded, think it was on a year after he died, theres a cracking version of White Man from that gig too

    MISS YOU JOE STRUMMER!!!!!!!!!!

  • I taped it too. This was the best track, much better live. The interview from 89 was really interesting. Also had a cracking live version of English Civil War if memory serves.

  • We miss you Joe. BIG HUG MATE.

  • my dads that guy at 1:18 in the purple shirt!!

  • This version is fucking dynamite. Still miss the man to this day. He was getting better and better just as we lost him. Ah well 4 years of the Mescaleros is better than 20 years of most other bands.

  • There will never be another.

  • I can't even believe this song. It blows my mind everytime I listen to it. RIP Joe!

  • Ahhh... to hear that great raspy voice live.. miss him ... Love him!! A lot of people don't realize what a genuinly nice guy he was, and that the whole Clash thing was so far behind him??

  • everything this man ever done is right up there, no doubts about it, genius, and missed, I'm glad he made so much in such a short life ! how come all the greats die young ! ! is it a curse ?

  • I love the joy you see in Joe. He just wants to be in a band playing small clubs looking for new sounds.

  • thats probably the best description i've ever heard!

glad to have read it !

  • God damn, am I the only one that misses Joe so much I'm in tears? We're about to fall to the Conservative party, we need him now.

  • It's okay, I've cried over him too! My mom introduced me to the clash and the mescaleros, and now we can cry together over Joe!

  • I've definitely shed more than my share of tears over him and all that was lost when he passed - he was a genius, and really just an awesome, incredible person...wish I coulda known him.

  • Hey Kids.....I'm still cryin

  • Lol, I'm so glad I found this posting!!! When I bought the album, I went through and tried to eat all the food he lists off, duck, okra, empaladas, Tikka chicken, etc... It expanded my mind for food. Thanks again Joe! You've made my life a richer thing!

  • Is this from the film "The Future Is Unwritten"? If not, where is it from? I WANT at least an audio version of it!

  • It's not in TFIU, I think its from a Channel 4tribute special. You can turn it into an mp3 directly from youtube with Freecorder (free software), though.

  • Thanks for the reply. Channel 4 where, London? And I thought you had to be able to download a file to convert it. Thanks again.

  • 1moredub, I checked out Freecorder. Works like a charm. Thanks.

  • Thanks from here too ! Bless You !

  • freakin awesome!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, Joe fucking Strummer! In about as much as a capsule that you could contain all that he was in: the lyrics say it, the music says it, the power of the performance...his joy of playing. I love this video.

A small tear rolls from my left eye...

  • Best Live performance ive seen from joe strummer. R.I.P. Joe

  • probably almost the best song ever written

  • i cannot believe you just took the words right out of my mouth. i made the same comment to my friend to whom i just sent the link to this video. joe is a master of commanding the audiences attention, especially in the part where he has to describe his own music. joe is a musical genius, his stuff will outlast all generations.

  • This clip is one of the the Reasons God invented You Tube. I cherish the moment when Joe forces HIMSELF to describe his own music. Just .... poetic!
