  • Man that guitar playing isnt simple at all, most underrated band in history!

  • so humble ,but your awesome !

  • three chords my ass cover bands carnt play three chords only quo

  • "i mean there are only3 chords for christs sake" :D he's so cool =)

  • Mike Casswell plays all of the other trickier guitars you hear on this DVD .

  • No Rick, no Rock. Very simple...

  • will rick be doing another dvd with different songs on like :

    Rocking all over the world

    Dont drive my car

    and other songs

  • Great musician,,,,,does anyone know the very last song he started up here?,,,cannot recognize it

  • Superb, brilliant Rick Parfitt. Vastly underrated in the world of rock guitar.

Does anyone know if the DVD also contains the backing tracks that Rick uses here or are they available separately?

    /john

  • @thesadmuppet Hi John, the Jam tracks are all included within the DVD package. Comes with an extra disc. Any further questions don't hestitiate to ask! Hope that helps.

  • @thesadmuppet

    Yuo´re right: Veeeeeryyyy Underated!

    Greetings from Argentina !!!

  • Finally! Rhythm gets it'd due! Rick Parfitt and Pete Townsend, huh? \m/

  • what sound is this ?=

  • Very very few songs are 3 chords from Quo actually. If you know something about music, you know there is more. Most of the songs are based on 3 (1st, 4th & 5th) chords but there are some fill-ins here and there. Caroline is 3 chords though.

  • i think this cat is cool I would like to see more people that could actually play rhythm guitar most people can not they seem to only play scales it seems kinda like to type i think a real player needs both

  • what is this about 3 chords ? ... all rock and roll is 3 chords ... its about how u play them and theres nobody better then staus quo (rolling stones, ac/dc)

  • 3 chords? THREE CHORDS ??, Man in that case Rick is the living proof that less IS more, in a (extremely) good way!

  • I live in Warsaw, Poland (even though I am part French and part British) is there any way I can order the DVD here? There are so many things I've tried to order yet they will never allow me, and me being a HUGE Quo fan, and only 14 makes it important for me to learn as much Quo techniques on the guitar as possible.

  • cool thanks Rick now i can play that intro :)

  • thatss cool

    rick parfitt is cool

  • 1:05 and 1:13 , what song/songs ?

  • @PopGracewood Hold you back

  • you can play the chords but you'll never sound like Rick; he 's not for nothing worlds best rhytmguitarist.

    very interesting vid!

  • best rhythm in existence ! rock on rick !

  • does he use normal tuning

    plz txt back

  • almost, just drop the thick E string down to an D :) the rest is normal :)

  • On what ever you want he drops the thick E sting to an D.

On hold ya back he drops E(thick),E(thin) and A to G .

    Caroline is normal.

  • Not always. One tuning that he does use is (starting from the thickest E string down) G, G, D, G, B, D. This gives an open G tuning. Thats at least one that he is known to use.

  • For whatever you want, he uses drop D tuning where the thickest E string in tuned down to D. He also uses (from thickest E string down) G, G, D, G, B, D which is an open G tuning

  • Rock GOD!!!!

    Best rythym going......

  • yeeeah once 3 chords, ever 3 chords =)

i love it! best rock band ever!!

  • It's called Hold you back, a great song from Quo's 1977 "Rockin' all over the word" album.

  • the song is "hold you back" !!

  • Status Quo - Hold You Back, look on this @ YT

  • Hold you back

  • The first bit it NOT hold you back but the start of Whatever You Want

  • The question wasn't about the first bit smart arse

  • it is hold you back from their - maybe best - 1977er Rockin all over the world record. Really has a drive!

  • @Theniteride It's called Hold You Back from the 1977 'Rockin All Over The World album.

  • and very underatted, Rick's a God of timing and rhythm

  • do you no where i could get this dvd in England Essex???

  • Yes!

Licklibrary is based in Romford, Essex so you can come into our offices and pick up a copy direct if you like. Our address is on our website (the web address is in the video at the bottom of the screen!)

  • Sorry I accidentally deleted your last comment by hitting 'Remove' instead of 'Reply'...doh!

    Our telephone number is (UK - 01708 757 337) or outside the UK +44 1708 757 337 and the DVD costs £29.99 + P&P

  • @licklibrary .. and it's worth every penny!

  • Finally....I got the dvd. Rick´s great.

It´s a shame there are no backingtracks on this dvd.

Nice rehearsel set-up by the way.

  • Just to let you know that although the five backing tracks are not on the DVD, they are all available on a Jamtrax CD that compliments this DVD, available from the online store of licklibrary

  • Do you know where I can get this in Australia, melbourne preferably

  • We do ship our products to all parts of the world, including Australia, so you should be able to order it directly from our website.

  • DAMN! I need to know how to play HOLD YOU BACK in the right way!!! Come onnnnnnn

  • THE rhythm player ever. period.

  • francis and rick are rock Ledgends!!!

  • I bought it and had a lot of fun getting there. You could become a neighbour from hell with is one.

  • What a great rhythm player & songwriter. That 'Whatever You Want' intro is precious.

Btw, what's the tuning on 'Mystery Song' - is he using C-G-C-G-C-E?

  • Put a capo in 2nd position. Then tune to a A major chord

  • He actually uses a guitar with the 2 bottom strings (normally E and A) tuned to the same note (G) So it's open G tuning - GGDGBD, capo 2 -> key of A

    Same tuning also for Rain

    have fun!!

  • (Apologies if this appears twice, I posted it before but it hasn't appeared yet...)

It's open G tuning but with the 2 bottom strings (normally E and A) both tuned to the same note - G. So it's GGDGBD, capo 2 --> key of A.

Same tuning also for Rain and Hold You Back.

  • He's a pure legend!

  • saw them perform ( again) last wedneday in amsterdam. yep Rick is one of THE best rhythm guitarist around. Sinsational :)

  • Rock on Rick!

  • Yeah, finally...To get the old Quo groove it's not just putting 2 tele's together...

You may get the chords, tunings and the sounds wright but the magic starts when you master Rick's right hand.

About time for some recognition there Rick

  • i agree. watching ricks hand is excellent. a very powerful player with amazing rhythm. (but how do you think he get's such a strong right hand?) haha. Rick is a pure legend
