  • I djizzed.

  • hi, i'm tosin abasi and i bet you can't play this

  • new genre, its incredible!

  • @Acecombatgamertwo It's the same macho bullshit as everything else...

  • God i love this...

  • i love how one of the related videos is 'POLICE SHOOT AND KILL UNARMED MAN". holy stereotype! awesome sound, a very nice refreshing change! killer rythms

  • You must be an ignorant, narrow-minded nincompoop to dislike this!!!!

  • Go to 1:04. You will shit bricks!!!

  • and guitar hero put fuckin through the fire and flames pffttt this guy should have his own game dedicated to him

  • 正直言うとね、弦の数も、音数もそんなにいらない。欲しいのは良いメロディだけ。

  • Mind=Blown

  • Opeth at 600 bpm LOL

  • I despise you Tosin, it's like when I watch you play guitar all my efforts are infinitely more inferior.

  • good ol' toes in a basket

  • The reason why Tosin switched to 8 strings is because a 6 string isn't big enough for his black hands to handle ;p

  • This guy should join up with Planet X.

  • @seeker111168 He's leads ahead, and Derek is way to conceited for him hahah

  • Þönder

  • I can honestly say that I've never heard anyone quite like him, his style is like a mix between bluegrass, progressive death metal, jazz, little bit of hair metal, and flamenco. Just, awesome.

  • Tosin Abasi As Leaders

  • jimi´s hendrix son?

  • @alexander371zxd "Jimi Hendrix's son", not "Jimi's Hendrix son". And if you mix jimi's innovative spirit with the shredding power of Paul Gilbert and Shawn Lane, you might be onto something.

  • @alexander371zxd hendrix evolution!

  • @alexander371zxd Jimi Hendrix wishes he was this good.

  • Does anyone else think the first album was better? I love Weightless, but AAL had better, chunkier, heavier riffs and felt more progressive, had more movement, you know? Anyway, personnal opinion, these dudes are some of the mos epic musicians alive.

  • @Freezaen Well it's because it's a different band. Misha Mansoor and Tosin wrote the self titled. while Tosin, Navene, and Javier wrote the second record!

  • @Freezaen I love Weightless also, but I completely agree with you. I actually prefer the first album. Either way AAL are one of my favorite bands next to BTBAM.

  • I hate the fact that we have to label music genres. It`s like being a fan of one genre will make you look cool or something, just because you "belong" to it. Fuck this shit. This is in music. That`s it. AWESOME music. WHAT THE FUCK IS DJENT !!!!

  • 2:04 is incredible.

  • DJENT IS NOT A "GENRE. "

    THIS IS PROGRESSIVE SHRED METAL.

    this has become so annoying.

my new band, we are a "woww wowww waaaAAAOOOWWW" band

  • @sonofnothing I think that Djent has carved a pretty good genre, the distinctive low grinding tone and drums are easily distinguished. I always say if I can group musicians by the sound of their rhythm section, then that's a genre. AAL, Meshuggah, Periphery, Veil of Maya, Sikth, bands like that.

  • i m trying to find "tosin abasi playing regular guitar" video on youtube :)

  • 1:03 that riff is fucking sweet

  • 2012 Jimi Hendrix version!

  • @Sam555768 is from 2010 you come lather 2 years XD

  • God is black??? Damn....!

  • Good stuff!! 8 string guitar! Very interesting!

  • I wish I had a hitch hikers thumb.

  • You sir, must play with G3!

  • @borbalucas no! ... G3 must play with him!!!

  • @sabbathman3210 That. Would. Be. Awesome!! Don't know how they'd go about it though, he is so different to Vai, Satch and Petrucci!! Maybe a new G3, Toisin, Misha "Bulb" Mansoor and some other awesome guitarist I have yet to discover...

  • @LUMBERTHON obviously ;) the have a very diferent styles and make a comparation will be stupid, i read in jamplay than bulb give some help to produce his debut album ... i not sure about that........ the other guitarrist could be AJ from the human abstract ;)

  • @borbalucas Holy shit, that would be amazing...

  • Nobody told me the son of Odin was black.

  • @r34perpwnz son of Odin? you mean the father of Hercules?

  • @Parkway808 Are you dumb, he speaks of thor, nothing to do with other mythologies

  • @hyrael2 um are u a dipshit? i speak of Zeus, which would be greater than Thor, u fuckin troll....btw it was a compliment towards Tosin, nothing to do with you, shit for brains.

  • @Parkway808 Yea, but thor is the son of Odin, this has nothing to do with greeks mythology, as we speak of nords one. Pagan mythology = the best one. To me, of course.

  • @hyrael2 um yea, i know that....and whos "we"? u do realize that Paganism doesnt only apply to Norse legends, but to a whole bunch of other stuff? who cares about this shit anyway when theres a crazy fuckin song goin on?

  • @Parkway808 It seems, you, haha :)

  • @hyrael2 whatever troll

  • @Parkway808 That's Zeus which is Greek, Odin is of Norse mythology.

  • @BFH0Accerso thanks for telling me, although I'm sure I already knew that....

  • DC SIHT YUB TSUM I!

  • The most incredible thing I ever heard on guitar.

  • @MrCrazytater im sure if you or i could ever play that we would celebrate too. and probably a billion times harder

  • What I like about this guy is he actually makes music with tons of dynamics and emotion, unlike a lot of shredders.

  • The intro sounds like The Fall Of Troy......on steroids

  • Fuck..

  • my name's Tosin Abasi and I'm going to go ahead and create not only a genre of music, but the best one there ever has been .

  • @mattdean1111 Indeed a new genre in the making!

  • @mattdean1111 Lies. That is clearly not Tosin Abasi's youtube username.

  • @mattdean1111 Well, if you consider Djent to be a genre, he is that, and if you don't, then he is just Progressive Metal.

  • @mattdean1111 What genre would that be? I thought his genre was progressive metal?

  • @mattdean1111 bulb helped too

  • @mattdean1111 lol ripping off meshuggah is a new genre? im a fan of both bands but aal sound like a more jazzy meshuggah.

  • @mattdean1111 what genre did he create

  • @mattdean1111 this clearly shows the arrogance of people involved in djent, once again... Ego is the only thing that matters...

  • @manvaix Arrogance? Do you see Tosin 'showing off' at any point? No, people like Steve Vai and Yngwe Malmsteen are the arrogant people. Tosin is playing for his own sake, he's not a crowd teaser like renowned shredders. He plays because he likes making music.

That's why he's not playing a guitar with 3 necks or appearing on stage covered in silver colour.

  • @MrUberAnarchist well, first of all i meant the fans of djent, and the second thing is: Steve Vai and arrogant? Man you´re an idiot...

  • @manvaix im a fan of djent... how am i arrogant? do you even know me?

  • @mattdean1111

    Tosin Abasi created Progressive Metal?

  • Man, I wish I was black..

  • I may need to change the color....

  • Pause @ 4:05 to figure out the only part you'll be able to play

  • Too many notes

  • @silverburst1979 I see what you did there

  • @rnc350 Well, that's why we have youtube! You don't have to be there. Take care.

  • @silverburst1979 sorry for the joke, man. I thought you were making reference to "Amadeus", a film about Mozart. take care.

  • @rnc350 Well, I was. But as you recall, the Mozart piece was excellent, and the only criticism was "too many notes". I just thought this was a good piece and that "too many notes" would be the only criticism. Just having fun.

  • @silverburst1979 what the hell does that even mean?

  • Tosin Abasi and Ihsahn are the best users of the 8 string

  • AxeFX Ultra *drooooooooool*

  • UGHHHH OMGGG THATTT TONEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! gets me everytime.

  • im guessing all you guys arguing over him playing over a cdRip probably think his guitar is making all the drums sounds too fuckin jag offs this dudes a straight boss!

  • How... amazing. Tosin rocks.

  • Comment removed

  • @yngwierulez1 who cares

  • this guy plays against backing tracks at all his shows? lame.

  • @3510211 no.

  • @3510211 Dude this isn't a show. He's demoing a pickup for the company. He's in a trio. Animals As Leaders? He doesn't use backing tracks when he does real shows. Also, so what? If you were in a band and your band members couldn't make it to a gig would you cancel the show (which disappoints your fans) or use a backing track and do what you can to make it work?

  • @skolnick14 meh. not a huge fan of this guy to be honest. lack of melody, too much dissonance, and the weakest vibrato I have heard in my life.

  • @3510211 Well you've got a right to an opinion. Nothing wrong with that.

  • Metal jazz

  • Sounds to me like he's playing over a straight CD rip, yeah. It's pretty noticeable at around 1:02. That's generally just the way he plays when he's solo from what I can tell.

  • @TheyAreNext I just don't understand why. It seems a guy of his caliber could access a studio version minus the guitar track. I'd rather outright hear the minor mess-ups he might encounter while performing live. Nobody is perfect, and it's not like any imperfections are going to make anybody think any less of him or his talent.

  • @mathprodigy I'm almost positive that there isn't a backing track of his lead line. I say this because I had a lengthy conversation with someone about how he messes up a note in one of his lines. I didn't hear it at first, but when the guy pointed it out to me, it was pretty clear. I wish I could remember where in the video it was. The reason it sounds identical is because the tone is engineered to be that way, and he's good enough to play it (essentially) perfectly.

  • @RelaxBrodysseus I can prove that there is a backing track of the lead line. There is a high note he hits at 0:47 where you can hear the dissonance between the note he hits and the real note. Also during the main solo of the song, it's actually pretty clear that he's playing over the lead track. You can hear it. It sounds like a very smooth mix, and that is because his playing is actually not that loud compared to his backing studio track. They could have turned him up more.

  • @mathprodigy Hmmm, I honestly can only hear one note at 0:47, but I believe you. I do hear what you're saying about the solo part though. I just kind of thought he had some doubling action or something. It seems pretty weird that he'd have the lead behind him on a promo for pickups though. Isn't the whole point to show off the tone?

  • @RelaxBrodysseus Some times lead isn't the best show case for tone. He is playing huge chords across the whole fret board and maintaining tonal quality and is ranging from heavy down beats to chiming chords with one guitar. A lead demo only shows that it can hold sustain and limit feedback.

  • @RelaxBrodysseus That note at 0:47, what I meant is that it is the same note, but you can hear the dissonance because he's playing his live note over the recorded note, so it's not the same as if he just played his own note. And it is pretty weird, yes. Thus why I mentioned it in the first place.

  • I wish there was no backing guitar track. It sounds like he's playing over a straight CD rip. I've heard the studio version plenty, and that's exactly what it sounds like. Still badass though.

  • @mathprodigy that's because all of his drums and bass are tracked, and only the rhythm guitar track is playing, he still does everything else.

  • @HideousKneeGrows How are you sure of this? It sounds like he's playing lead over his own lead, along with the rhythm guitar, bass, and drums. Like I said, it sounds like a straight CD rip.

  • @mathprodigy dude he is playing a 8 string guitar so it would be like a bass and 6-string in one

  • the fidora completes it

  • I hate listening to this guy. He just makes me wanna quit.

  • @chicksand3 He makes me wanna practice and practice until I get to the point I can barely play like him.

  • @chicksand3 but you cant practice after you die!

  • damn he is a master, the master

  • If you rearrange the letters in Tosin Abasi, you can spell out "Fuck me, this is good".

  • @ohmysweetnurse What's funny, is I tried to do it and then I read the rest of the comment and went "Hey, wait a minute!"

  • @The34zyD If you look at it jusssst right... :D

  • 'no description available'

    Dam right.

  • The one dislike is from Tosin, he was just being humble. Cuz he's classy. Nuff said.

  • @TheKonarider23 he has 4 youtube accounts

  • This dude sounds like Thomas Erak

  • Comment removed

  • @tcix5

as much as i like thomas erak... he's not in the same league as tosin.. and they don't really sound that much alike at all lol..

  • @reice01 I think he means like the way he does his chords. They really are kinda similar in that respect.

  • @reice01 rhytms are quite similiar.. But thats my opinion and thats yours. No hard feelings. =)

  • @reice01 thats like apples and oranges bro

  • this music is beautiful and technical... i've found everything that i want in music right here man D:

  • This guy has inspired this Marine to progress on bass once again, lol.and hes a guitar player, lolol.his fingertapping blows mind.

  • A live with Tom Morello e Tosin Abasi equals to a global nuclear orgasm

  • What is the genre of his music?

  • @MrSwampChild Djent Metal.

  • @MrSwampChild they pioneered Djent metal from influences like Meshuggah and Dream theater and others. but it's very original. they've created something very different from their influences.

  • @300daysandnights Yes this is very original, and creative, and very inspiring. I think there are a lot of jazz section, mixed with metal, and like you said, there are a lot influence of Meshuggah, with odd rhythms. Btw it's very unique. :) Thanks for answer...

  • @MrSwampChild whoops forgot to mention jazz as a strong influence as well. but you were smart enough to hear it. :)

  • @300daysandnights I like jazz its very inspiring music, and a lots of beautiful melodies, but mixed with metal, gives something that I can't explain, how is beautiful.

  • Bulb should take notice and fire their Nickleback singer so we can have more instrumental progressive metal.

  • this is insane...:)

  • @m4ssee racist
