@joemurraystudio I would really like to know why your dogs sit like that, with their hind legs jutting into the air. Spunky sat the same way, with his chubby back end spread out on the floor.
Really though, everything you've touched has made me so happy. Thank you!
Hi Joe! My sister and I are HUGE fans of your work! I love your style and your sense of humor. There really isn't anything like this kind of cartoon anymore. Everything is overratted and already done. But this is totally unique. I grew up on Rocko's Modern Life and watching this really gives me a nostaglic feeling. Thank you so much for all your work and effort. This really makes me happy.
Hi Joe! It's crazy I actually found your youtube account :)!! I've grown up with, and always loved your work <3 I hope to become some kind of animator one day myself. I like to research a lot of my favorite artists and see how their careers started out. I've been looking around for this indie film you did for awhile. By the way I love it so much! x) You wouldn't happen to have the full movie uploaded here or anywhere else would you?
Shoestring budget? This was very creative, and I couldn't actually tell that it was cheap. That's how good it and the animation is. Ambition is what I see.
As an animator myself everything does not need to have a bunch of frames to look good, as opposed to my older brother's idea. When he sees me animating he always says " ADD MORE FRAMES AND SWITCH TO 24FPS!". Haha.
Wow, I've always wanted to see some of what "My Dog Zero" was like. This was absolutely hilarious to watch. xD The timing and expressions were brilliant!
In love with all your characters :)

The backgrounds look similar to the style of Terry Gilliams artwork...

How difficult is it to do traditional animation like this, and how long does it take to finish a 30 minute episode?
sega31098 11 months ago
do you have the whole short?

It reminds me a bit of Rocko and Spunky. :P

@NintendoArielle well this is sort of a prototype for rocko's modern life. spunky was based off of zero according to joe murray

I'm technically living off of "Rocko" right now and
finding this video is just great!
Is there any chance that Rocko will ever be back?

You are totally right about the frisket. Very labor intensive process, airbrush back then.

I do have copies of the original pilot. It's just a matter of digging it out of storage.

You wouldn't happen to have the original Rocko "Trash-O-Madness" pilot cartoon, would ya?

Nice little film. Wonderfully animated. I especially like the airbrushed props in the background.

HAHA it's Spunky's father... Brilliantly animated...

Much of the background designs resemble Rocko's neighborhood, house, kitchen, and the dog resembles Spunky a little.
Nightmare87SoCal 1 year ago
Yup. I believe Joe said that Spunky is sort of based off of Zero, only with a little more intelligence.
LegoJunk128 1 year ago 3
@Nightmare87SoCal To me, they remind me of Terry Gilliam's animations on Monty Python.
