  • Hmm, this game looks like it could have been pretty damn fun if they had fixed the shoddy jumping mechanics. Although what this has to do with Tron I have absolutely no damn idea. P.S. I've never seen the movie either (one of those movies I keep meaning to see, but just never seem to be in the mood), but I've seen enough about the movie to know it is nothing like this game. Probably the first ever example of a game trying to capitalize on a popular name.

  • A BIG F***IN TANK!

  • This looks like Intellivision graphics.

  • dude u from new york or jersey or somethin?...lol

  • I played this alone in my room while listening to the Tron: Legacy soundtrack the other day. Will someone be my girlfriend?

  • @poshko41 lol.

  • what's that game in the intro right before Phoenix?

  • @rambling123456 I believe that game is Venture. He reviewed it in an earlier video if you check his channel.

  • @rambling123456 that's Venture, great game, a classic

  • For Atari, this game rocks. I dont understand how u rank it a "d".

  • You haven't seen the original? Wow...the arrow on the third floor is the Solar Sailer! The Ms are Recognizers. I guess the game was really fun for me as a kid because I knew what everything was.

  • @holdenc96

WOW? Have you seen every movie ever made? What is the big deal about someone not seeing one particular movie?

  • @tmxd81 Mind your business, bro. I wasn't talking to you.

  • I forgot about this game, there were three other TRON games for the home video game market in 1982.

  • One of my favorite games EVER....

  • One of my favorite games EVER....

  • The items are easy to get if you jump at them a little before they get to you.

  • You should do a review of Tron deadly discs that was actually a really good game, originally for the intellovision but its much more fun on atari.

  • I used to love this game but Discs of Tron was the best. The arcade version of course

  • The "Tron" movie is an awesome classic, but this game was not even close to being faithful to it.

  • And by the way this isn't a dig, i'm just saying

  • Although some of the frustrations you could highlight as issues, given time you become particularly good at overcoming all of these.Jumping enemy and bullets for example is possible

The slow jump could be considered a flaw but the gameplay is designed around this of course

Dodgy collision while collecting the moving items is actually because you are too late or early- it might seem off but the collision is set so that you collect item at a certain distance each time

    Great game this

  • Excellent Beck reference there at the end. :D

  • the enemys are mastercomputer's shutles

  • Recognizers, IIRC, are what they are called.

  • @8bitPikachu Master computer? You mean MCP (Master Control Program)? And yes the enemies are the sentries from the film.

  • Matrix totally ripped off Tron.

  • @Kasigi03 how?

  • @JasonNuka Seriously? People representing program, literally living within the computer. Shit, the only difference is the lack of dogma and the level of awesomeness Tron posesses over Matrix.

  • @Kasigi03 I know. i dont know why i said that before

  • @JasonNuka Its all good!

  • @Kasigi03 no it did not. Tron is set in cyberspace. Matrix is set in a simulation.

  • @redfoxbennaton The result of the simulation are still as real as if the person is in cyberspace. I mean ok, Matrix is not DIRECTLY ripping off Tron, but its close enough. Besides Tron was better.

  • what a fuckin pain in the ass!

  • i love the movie

  • Good review. I actually love this game and just bought the cartridge. I can see how people wouldn't like it though. Man, you should definitely see the movie though! It's great if you love classic video games and they're making a sequel to it soon.

  • this isn't Tron. those items are supposed to be the frisbees you throw like in the movie

  • thats from one of the other tournement games that master computer forced them to compete till death

    ask tron-guy

  • Man, l played the hell outa this. You can grab that arrow and slide over the enemies, really comes into play in later levels. When everything is at superspeed the tanks are easy as hell to jump. l thought it was fun but hey, l was 12!

  • Great game that will need a learning of it's more precise skill requirements

A game you can pick up and play for 5 or 10 minutes to beat your score like say Outrun or Defender

Repetitive in the same sense that Pacman and Space Invaders are too

It's perfectly possible to jump over the stuff with practice and it's very satisfying when you learn the gameplay properly

Easy or hard options so there is a choice

I guess some people just don't like a more demanding game but the game is excellent

  • I like how you changed the music to make it sound more 'Atari'

  • Go watch Tron. What is wrong with you??

  • holy shit its the dude from pitfall lol

  • Once again great review... i love these atari ones.. such simple games then you come and 'animate' them with your 'profound' reviews... 5/5

  • This game has nothing to do with tron!

  • Great review, as always!

  • W0W this game sucks

  • Looks like this game had nothing to do with the movie really. Except for the shapes of the enemies.

  • You never saw TRON!?? wow!

Still, the game has nothing to do with the movie, except for the tanks maybe...

  • @feanor22 yeah the enemys are the only thing from the movie

  • @feanor22

I never saw TRON until last year when I heard about TRON: Legacy. Tron was a stupid story and a crappy movie. I don't know why it was so popular.

  • @tmxd81 You have to think about the time it was made.

Sure it may seem crappy now (and it was kind of nerdish in those days), but the plot was original and the effects were interesting and well made.

You will miss a lot of movies if you cant take into account the times when thay were made.

  • @feanor22 I'm pretty sure those other objects were suppose to be the Space Paranoids

  • Oh man you have got to watch Tron! Great movie.

Great review by the way. Keep em comin.

  • (in a robotic voice)

    YES.

  • I had this game when I had my Atari

  • Watch Tron so when you watch the remake you can be like WOW

  • YAY! MORE!

  • This game should been about the cool motorcikle parts from the movie instead. I haven't seen that movie in a long time, but I do rember the racing moments and main enemy was a gaint face I think.

  • Master Control was the guy's name I think.

  • Rather sloppy game based on a movie. I have the film on DVD and it rocks. You might enjoy it too, has a bit of Mega Man energy to it. :-)

  • If you haven't watched the movie yet - I recommend you do. It won't be such a killer now since of all the new stuff, but when I first watched it at the age of 5 I was thrilled as hell!

  • Hmm while the enemies are shaped like the ones from the movie, why does the guy have a green shirt? they were all dressed in white with some blue details in the movie.

  • You have not seen Tron yet Aqualung :O Holy hell. well anyways nice review. The two Tron games on Arcade kick ass tho.

  • Well played. :D

  • I could probably make this game -- but with better jumping. :)

  • at least its not as bad as karate...

  • HUGE FUCKIN' TANK!

  • What a sloppy game. So much going on.

  • Fortunately, Tron's Deadly Discs is a much better game.
