Due to the multifunctionality of weapons, this is the only first-person shooter made in 2011 to get away with being able to carry only 2 guns at the same time.
@rush68 Don't get me wrong, I like keyboard and mouse too... but, when I go to my brothers house we like to play more casual and sit on the couch in front of the big screen. There's a lot of different ways to game. :)
@peetrwilson Yes but not recommended, it's just too fast paced. But you can play it with Kb+mouse + 360 pad in your lap with the rumble feature on. :D So you don't miss force feedback.
The secret areas in this game remind me of N64 shooters. Duke Nukem Zero Hour specifically. They're mostly corners and empty rooms instead of something actually 'secret'. lol
I do kind of like this game. I got it for free from Steam's holiday giftpile giveaway thing.

@joujou264 You can get a PC that will run everything on Medium/Max for like 1000 dollars. That is not expensive AT ALL. And if you want to run everything on max? Spend a extra 200-300 dollars and you got one of the best graphics cards on the market.
I saved 6 thousands to travel to Asia when I was 18, saving 1/6 of that is easy as fuck. If you really want something, you make time to get it. Easy as that.

Yes the menu is annoying and I don't think the graphics look that great particularly great, even on 1920 with everything full on. The AA in particular doesn't seem to work correctly, loads of jagged edges. On the other hand no slow down on a GTX285 (my current card).
But overall it's a fun shooter, that I definately will play through to the end.
I find it funny how this game got some criticism for not having health regen from some websites. THE NERVE of those devs, I'm not feeling my hand being held!!
But if you use the mouse for aiming and shooting _and_ interacting with objects, how does that invalidate a controller's right-stick/trigger shooting/interaction? I admit that menu manipulating does seem more natural with a mouse (mainly because that's all an FPS is: a point and click), but early you say this for of interaction would work on console... I don't see why not. Doesn't reusing keys make the controls easier to port?
The game has some serious contrast issues, it's hard to distinguish enemy / powerup from environment, and extremely hard to tell what weapon you selected... all this in a hard ass fast paced shooter is very irritating.

Gaming PC's are a bit pricey (but getting cheaper constantly). In several years time TB's PC will be a calculator compared to the PCs of that age. I don't have a job, but I need to save money for uni next year (I don't mind fees are more), instead of buying a PC (or 4 :D) that can run anything.
There is no story and confusing weird game...not saying that is bad but I do expect more from these famous developers. The design of the game feels like a unity game off miniclip. Still a good game though.
The size of the weapon actually adds a sense of realism, not too much to be complained about, I mean, you'd be using that same 2 guns, with different attachments and modifications, for the rest of the game, the size is pretty acceptable.
Enemies with high mobility compensate for a lack of 'crouch' or 'probe', forcing a more versatile method to take enemies down, be it hit-and-running or luring them into a trap.
Nice preview : ) Just got yourself a new subscriber! As for the game itself, with so many other high profile titles right around the corner, when testing this demo, I couldn't help but feel like I wanted more out of it. It's beautiful to look at, and it actually has a nostalgic fun factor to it that harken back to the days of Doom. Those were its redeeming qualities for me, personally. Other than that, the story seems largely unremarkable; which makes it no more than a reason to shoot stuff.
This Battlefield 3, Skyrim and Deus Ex: Human Revolution are so far the redeeming FPS games in light of those fateful years of shit. 2009-2010, not even once.

Ah, c'mon TB, 'Crysis 2 level of freedom'? I know a lot of people were disappointed with Crysis 2, but there are at least several ways to navigate to your objectives; whereas this is clearly an entirely linear corridor shooter.
Its great that its a PC exclusive... but self constructing robots are a lame and flawed idea... when he killed that big robot thing I thought of "scrapyard" and the movie "robots". LAME!!

I ran the demo fine with a amd x2 6400+ black, 8 gigs ddr2 ram, and a Radeon 4850. Couldn't quite run on Ultra at 1680x1050, but it was pretty close to it. The game is amazingly scalable.

@fallenmercury It sort of depends on how good of a computer do you want, you can always buy a PC with enough power to play modern games. But the real price of PC's comes to the excess power that will be needed to run games 3-4 years in the future. Or at least getting a motherboard that's fairly large in space and just keep up grading your nvidiaGPU and ram every couple of years. I'm poor as shit as well and I have a solid gaming PC.
@MivoAnajevo yep you're right. planning and proper balance of specs is key. the way i see many people speak of PC gaming is that everybody must have 2 gtx 580s and dual quad core processors to play Minecraft. its the misinformed that look at pre-built rigs from alienware, oops, I mean Dell and assume all gaming pcs surely cost 1,500-2,000+.

@fallenmercury Aye ladd, If someone is dumb enough to buy a retail computer for cheap, say under 1k and in most cases around $500. Then they bought a $500-$1k email checker/web browser. If they got custom order or learned to do it themselves they could have a gaming system for under 1k. I went a little further for 1920x1200 and decent FPS on it for my own personal pleasure, but 720P gaming, even 1080P gaming is cheap as hell these days. Now TB's system is FAR from cheap, around 3k or more.
@fallenmercury Well, it really depends on the country of residence, BUT it'd still be hard to not afford a decent setup when just NOT using your entire salary over the period of 4 months on alcohol and clothes--- the actual price does fluctuate in different countries. But you have a point, lol.
I'm also poor, i live in a third world country and i own a game quality pc that works fine with most today's games (crysis 2, dirt 3, black ops, etc.)

Nice preview : ) Just got yourself a new subscriber! As for the game itself, with so many other high profile titles right around the corner, when testing this demo, I couldn't help but feel like I wanted more out of it. It's beautiful to look at, and it actually has a nostalgic fun factor to it that harken back to the days of Doom. Those were its redeeming qualities for me, personally. Other than that, the story seems largely unremarkable; which makes it no more than a reason to shoot stuff.

Ah, c'mon TB, 'Crysis 2 level of freedom'? I know a lot of people were disappointed with Crysis 2, but there are at least several ways to navigate to your objectives; whereas this is clearly an entirely linear corridor shooter.

@mivoanjevo btw its obv u know nothing about computers. referring to computers as having "power" and "a motherboard thats fairly large in space"? wtf does that mean? a standard ATX mobo is the same size from any company. the physical size has nothing to do with it. You want a quality mobo that supports the latest CPU sockets and possibly an SLI or crossfire config, which almost all of them do. Getting a good computer has nothing to do with runing games in 3-4 either its about maxing settings now

I ran the demo fine with a amd x2 6400+ black, 8 gigs ddr2 ram, and a Radeon 4850. Couldn't quite run on Ultra at 1680x1050, but it was pretty close to it. The game is amazingly scalable.

@fallenmercury It sort of depends on how good of a computer do you want, you can always buy a PC with enough power to play modern games. But the real price of PC's comes to the excess power that will be needed to run games 3-4 years in the future. Or at least getting a motherboard that's fairly large in space and just keep up grading your nvidiaGPU and ram every couple of years. I'm poor as shit as well and I have a solid gaming PC.

@MivoAnajevo yep you're right. planning and proper balance of specs is key. the way i see many people speak of PC gaming is that everybody must have 2 gtx 580s and dual quad core processors to play Minecraft. its the misinformed that look at pre-built rigs from alienware, oops, I mean Dell and assume all gaming pcs surely cost 1,500-2,000+.

@fallenmercury. same here. bought a discount laptop, but with a proper internal setup instead of just some random bits and bobs. it does have problems, but i can manage to play quite recent games. deus ex etc, all with some amount of detail. and instead of four figures, what was the cost? 485,90€

@fallenmercury Aye ladd, If someone is dumb enough to buy a retail computer for cheap, say under 1k and in most cases around $500. Then they bought a $500-$1k email checker/web browser. If they got custom order or learned to do it themselves they could have a gaming system for under 1k. I went a little further for 1920x1200 and decent FPS on it for my own personal pleasure, but 720P gaming, even 1080P gaming is cheap as hell these days. Now TB's system is FAR from cheap, around 3k or more.

@fallenmercury Well, it really depends on the country of residence, BUT it'd still be hard to not afford a decent setup when just NOT using your entire salary over the period of 4 months on alcohol and clothes--- the actual price does fluctuate in different countries. But you have a point, lol.
