  • @drebo699 Thanks for your wise feedback. In powerlifting, you'll find that the proper technique actually involves a very arched spine as it allows you to incorporate your lower body, your body and your lats much more efficiently. Rather than arguing with me, feel free to google "Dave Tate bench press technique" or "professional powerlifting technique" to expand your knowledge on good form and power.

  • @woo2fly18 Well, thanks for taking time out of your day to arrogantly gloat on my video...the arch in my spine is actually very purposeful. You could read the comments below or simply do a little research on Dave Tate's Bench Press video for a few lessons on the value of placing yourself onto the bench with a purposeful arch, as it allows you to engage your entire body in the lift. Good luck.

  • damn look at all the bench pros on youtube, half you idiot trolls know nothing about bench pressing at all, take lessons from dave tate as well as other elite powerlifters, and then your learn how to bench the right way, i can't believe u guys think that laying on the bench and bringin the bar to your chest and pressing it up is how u do it haha, there is more to benching then you guys think :)

  • LOL--people, my back is very intentionally arched. If you look deeper into the form for poweifting, or read from leaders in the sport like Dave Tate, you will learn that arching your back allows your to engage your entire body into the lift. From toes to lats. Instead of simply using your chest and tris. I set several records in bench-pressing because of that arch, so thanks for your wise advice, but you are incorrect.

  • @gingervieira yeah well, so isn't that basically cheating then? Using your whole body instead of just your chest and tris? Its like when armwrestlers lean their entire body to the side and just try to lock their arm and pull the other persons arm down using their body weight and core muscles, instead of actually seeing who has a stronger arm. its basically just cheating in my mind. why do people always have to use some quirky technique to give themselves a competitive advantage?

  • @peteyd80 No, that's how you should bench press. Power lifters are the pioneers of technique, and why is that? Because of injuries.

    I weigh 155 lbs, I'm 5' 8". I'm not a big guy at all. I squat 415 lbs all the way down and all the way up. Since I use very good technique and work hard, I hit the gym every couple of days and out squat, bench, and deadlift all the big bodybuilders at my gym. It looks crazy, but it's just hard work.
