Ya a it's "Just a Movie" that has been viewed globally, and has influenced the public conversations regarding gay rights, and the safety and well being of younger LGBTQ folks everywhere! Jesus Christ has opened my eyes to see that not liking someones actions does NOT mean hating the person. We as Christians are supposed to love all people and not harm or kill anyone. the bible does say that if any man shall lie with another man he shall surely die. i really like this movie. it shows how tough it is coming out and feeling that way. im bi, i like guys and girls and when i think im choosing one side, i find someone else. confusing... i only came out to my mom and she told me im weird, she yelled and sent me to a psychologist and never brought it up again. everytime the tv mentions something gay or bi she gives me a shameful look and i cant stand it.....

As a young teenage boy, even before I met Bobby, I was given regular "Instruction" in some of the great "Sufi Mystical Poets", like "Rumi" or "Hafiz"! So I've always had an abiding love for my "Muslim" brothers and sisters, gay or straight! I too thought actor "Ryan Kelley" was absolutely darling, but next to my Bobby (Griffith) he's a "Darling Beanpole"! Bobby was in fact "Pumped" , with an utterly "Ripped" upper build! I was almost 18 when we started dating, and in every club where we hung out it was so thrilling for me as a boy to know at that time that he was all mine!

This movie hit home for me because I nearly became like Bobby because I have parents who don't understand and tried to fix that in me as well. I'm so glad that I never took my own life but have accepted that my family will never accept me being gay so I was able to move on in my life but I cried through the whole movie because I truely knew exactly how Bobby felt and yet I find inspiration from this story. This was truely one of the best movies I've ever seen!

Aren't devout Christians, as Bobby's mother considers herself to be, not supposed to smoke? I know the rules vary a little from church to church, but isn't smoking usually considered a sin in most of the devout Christian churches/congregations, since it's a self-indulgent act? If so, isn't bobby's mother a little hypocritical since she is a smoker?

Jesus Christ has opened my eyes to see that not liking someones actions does NOT mean hating the person. We as Christians are supposed to love all people and not harm or kill anyone. the bible does say that if any man shall lie with another man he shall surely die. Not he shall surely be slaughtered by some redneck cocksucker who was raised by inbred brother and sister parents who taught him to hate everything that is good and different. I learned a long time ago...

Such an unnecessary tragedy. To the Bobbys out there in the world: just remember, that it gets better! Don't give up and never lose hope. Go back to school and learn to rule the world. Your parents may come around but give them time and focus on yourself. Give yourself everything they didn't. If you believe in yourself, you can and will accomplish it. Your support is out there! Keep looking.

Although my time coming out of the closet wasn't near this difficult I feel for anyone who has this hard of a time. I only wish to say remain strong and love yourself. i really like this movie. it shows how tough it is coming out and feeling that way. im bi, i like guys and girls and when i think im choosing one side, i find someone else. confusing... i only came out to my mom and she told me im weird, she yelled and sent me to a psychologist and never brought it up again. everytime the tv mentions something gay or bi she gives me a shameful look and i cant stand it.....

In 2013 it will actually be 30 years since Bobbys' passing! Though it does pain me greatly to know that what became of Bobby is still happening in this 21st Century!

Which is true it does say this, in the old testiment. The next line they wish to throw out is "a man shall not lay with a man nor an animal the way thy layeth with a woman". Well let's see, I can read the "Septuagent" in "Hellenistic Greek", the "Epistles of Paul" in "Koine Greek", and the "Vulgate" in "Latin" ! I cannot as of yet read the books of the "Pentateuch or Torah" in "Hebrew" but, I intend to work on that one! Oh and at least four modern vernaculars including, English, French, Italian and German! "The way I think it means"? That's highly presumptuous on your part but, I'm sure you mean well!

No, not on something else! Torah remained an "Oral Tradition" exclusively before that time! The "Babylonian Captivity" was the precise period when it was in fact committed to "Papyri" for the very first time! This is "Universally" accepted by most Historians and Theologians alike!

@10782sjk I just realized I misspoke in my previous post and would like to clarify with a comment that should make what I was trying to say more clear. It was Peter who was the disciple Jesus had the fondness of. Although I do know some use some of the scriptures such as "Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?"

to claim there was a romantic involvement between Peter and Jesus I am merely pointing out that Jesus not only showed a deep love for The Whore of Babylon but also for other men. If Jesus could have a deep love for another man then why can't other humans seem to be respectful and loving instead of searching the bible for scriptures that warrant them hating anyone different than themselves.
