  • Great start up video of what is in my opinion one of the best looking and sounding helicopters ever made. Used to watch these fly out of RNAS Culdrose when I was a kid on holiday in Cornwall.

  • what do u mean when u said the ex mod cant carry people does it not come with the backseat or am i missing something

  • @camafly1

all ex mod helicopters, enter civilian life on a permit to fly. this permit states you are not to carry passengers, but are allowed to take crew , eg for ground handling. so granny or children, etc would not be allowed.

  • enjoyed it very much. thanks!

  • did anyone notice that he still had a dayglow blank on his rotar blade ?

  • @gingerstudioz

it's just the woollen string mounted on a little stalk on the outside of the windscreen centre pillar - used as a visual aid for flying in balance. Twin Squirrel has it as well.

  • god damn, rambo just sits in this thing and starts it like a car, we need RAMBO PILOTING FLIGHT ACADEMY!!

  • love the british army gazelle but i never released to start it you need to do all this stuff what the hell do you do if your under fire and need to get the fxxk out

  • clockell? what Cockell? I thought it was a clock.

  • It looks like a pain in the ass to start. It would be nice if you only had a key with an Chrysler Gear Reduction Starter. So many buttons and knobs to operate just to start the damn thing.

  • @themattster1991 its only to prevent brain dead mornons from starting it?

thats why it appears to be a pain ,but to most people its a simplegto do

  • @jettech7 i agree fully, bringing an aircraft like these to life is part of the appeal!...today's modern systems take all the fun out of the anticipation before, finally, leaping in to the air

  • @jettech7 Indeed, it is pretty simple when you know what you are doing. You don't wan't a non-pilot trying to fly that thing...

  • @jettech7 not to mention STEALING it

  • @jettech7 Have to admit its alot different to starting up an R44 raven 2 :)

  • These helicopters sound amazing....But wheres the 6x20mm cannon like Blue Thunder had??

  • Whats the pilots background and what does he do today for a living?

  • pup owner?

  • @Chopper894 He is proberbly a pilot???

  • @philball31

no he doesnt fly no weeeey

  • ..still waiting for my lotto win :)

    super video!

you could land that on my back lawn.

  • I don't know how much they cost. But if you get the ex-military versions they're a fraction of the price.

  • How much does a Gazelle cost?

  • for an ex mod about 150,000. but you can't carry passengers.

a genuine one will set you back 250,000-350,000 depending on hours and condition.

if you want one contact martin wood helicopters. and if you want to see lots of gazelles in one place call in at breighton air field. a chap has 6 there.

  • Only buy one if you need to dump some money to avoid paying tax.

Once you qualify to fly one, you could self fly hire as needed for around £500 per hour at a guess.

  • Doesnt take long to get enough steam up does it. How much coal does it carry int tender.

  • There was Nowt wrong with Fred!

  • The Fred Dibnah of the skies?

  • totally awesome. love your videos

  • omg i absolutely love your videos!!!! im normally a fan of anything allison 250 powered but seenas ive been up close to a gazelle a while back they facinate me more and more!!

its just a small request, but if you get the chance to video it again, please record the startup and once he engages the rotor system :)

    thanks

  • Awesome, these are fantastic,
