Yes, Connie has talent, but she also had help in that she has the same sort of face as Julie Andrews and hair cut is similar and that s how people picture Maria. I think, Helena, who I feel had a finer voice, the fact that she was dark haired and such, worked against her. Though for me, she's prettier than Connie. Sometimes molds must be broken. Andrews will always be Maria, but a change of image is always good and Andrews would agree ie from Mary Poppins to drag queen in Victor/Victoria.

I still think that Aoife was jipped. I live in America and just adored Aoife as Maria. Helena should have been gone weeks ago, she has a great voice but I just never saw her as Maria. Aoife and Connie would have made the perfect top two. Chevonne was too pretty but would have made the perfect Eliza Doolittle. I just wouldn't shell out any pounds to see Connie as Maria. I deleted this show off my tivo as soon as aoife was offed. Connie is good vocally, but she isn't very pretty.

@Mitashade She is not dead. Indeed, she works more now, in her 70's, than she did when she was younger. I feel for her in that some doctors botched a surgery that left her without her amazing vocal range, but she has survived and has, obviously, moved on. Indeed, she was great as Von Trapp, Poppins, Lawrence, etc....and equally amazing as Victor/Victoria...but she is still with us, so do not miss her as she is always around, doing some work or another. Cheers!

Wow, I didn't see this serie (because it hasn't been on TV in Holland), but this Connie is very good! I tought she was playbacking on Julie Andrews, but then I realised she sung it herself! In holland we've got a show like this one, it's actually based on this. It's called 'Op zoek naar Evita' (which means 'Looking for Evita') and it's a show to choose a new Eva Perón in the musical Evita.

yes i have seen both. connie twice and Aoife once. Aoife is a very strong actress, she has better chemistry with the captain and the children. although i do like the fact that Connie is very Tomboyish. I also saw Aoife in Chicago, which she was fantastic in! The girl is a star... and i wasn't a fan in the Maria show.

I will stand by Conie no matter what, I think she was perfect for the part, she put so much energy into everything and actually looks like she's enjoying herself all the time, because she's entertaining. That I love about her.

Aoife was good, and perhaps she does do brilliantly on the West End, I don't know, but I know Connie will always be Maria for me.

Connie is brilliant, i agree. Aoife is brilliant. and i think if either Abi or Helena had got the part they would have been brilliant too (judging from what i've seen them do since). Those four i think will be the ones who have a real career ahead of them. I don't think the show really showcased their true potential. I've found i've liked all of them more when I've seen them in the shows they've done.

I still get all teary watching this clip...I'm now not seeing the Sound of Music till August, we would have seen it on Friday but Connie was off all this week, so my mum decided she wanted to rebook. We went to see Evita so we still got to go to London in half term! ANYWAY...the Sound of Music title song that she sings at the end here is almost my favourite musical theatre song EVER, and Connie sings it so beautifully..definitely the right choice, even though I'm still waiting to see it
