okay lets stop this before it get mainstream! no matter how much code you can write or how good you are with computing. No program will turn you into a musician. You can study for it if you really feel like you need to, or you are just born with it. NO HACK NO CHEATCODE sooo drop it!
this wont get mainstream, its not radio friendly, not got any of the requirements so i dont think you need to worry about that.
in the past people (most famously, like stockhausen) have been composing electronic experimental music for well over fifty years, its not mainstream.. more about the sound and control of timbre than pop music. its separated from mainstream stuff.
if you ever listened to much serialist or abstract classical composition, its actually quite similar, apart from the timbre
You don't become a trumpet player by owning a trumpet, you get to know how to use it. This guy obviously knows how to use his computer in a way that allows him to create music. How is that NOT being a musician?
total agreement....true many pieces still have an unpolished experimental feel to them, but in the end this method of musicianship(?) IS experimental atm... and skill, musical ability and creative potential is only enhanced with exciting technology such as this...its all about practice aint it? So I dont see why anyone need start drawing lines in the ground...
these are all good points and i wont argue that, its the fact that they are calling this orchestra, i dont wanna be a hater but MIT grad students and such, should know their place give it annother name and i might swallow it :P thats all im saying
this shit is whack.
a total waste of my 2 mins and 56 secs.
not musical.
not an orchestra.
not conducting.
not very creative.
more 'cool' than anything.
