  • Danny Wilson! reyt player a Luton & Wednesday! "tremendous"!

  • I love the little bits of info they use to show on screen during the vid..They were usualy always wrong in the things they said...Like during lazy itis they said The Happy Mondays next release will be called W S L...lol..Great chart though...Was the highlight to my Saturday mornings.

  • The chart show was responsible for turning me onto indie music.

I tuned in for the pop originally and then used to look forward to the indie and dance charts more and more each week. The rock chart was turgid at the time though.

  • I remember this song by Danny Wilson Great video too!! I can clap backwards!! I talk bollocks & clap backwards!!

Bit of a odd name for a group..Danny Wilson & there is 3 members. i never got that!!

  • Yeah it was a bit confusing - I think they got their name (& 1st album's name) from an old Frank Sinatra film - Meet Danny Wilson.

  • Love the video to lazyitis, cool as fuck! Got it in the loft somewhere on the Happy Mondays video compilation.

  • Id almost forgotten this, I probably still have old videos hidden somewhere with these programmes recorded :-) What a contrast though the Neph next to Happy Mondays.....

  • indie music went to crap by the mid 90s. late 80s stuff was much better

  • The Indie Chart is 17th June 1989

  • saw these at international 2 they were shit

  • That's who did this song!

  • Excellent non-album version of Lazyitis. Note the lyrics "I pinned him down and took his badge off" rather than the album version where he "...blew his face off". Also seem to remember The Beatles taking exception to the alleged use of a chord or two from Ticket to ride.

Thanks for all these Chart Show videos. It shows how the chart changed from independent label singles chart to the independent labels that have artists with guitar-based music chart & Erasure.

  • karl denver was a friend of my grans growing up in springburn.Didn't know he'd done this.brilliant.

  • Thanks for all these superb clips - the good old days eh! I also used to watch the CT religiously and recorded most of these as well (specially in 1990). Back in the days when quite a few bands didn't have videos!

  • The date I think is the 17th...

  • Love Not Listening by Snuff - brilliant track. Lunachicks look dog rough

  • Fields of the Nephilim look (and sound) quite scary!

  • Nice gurning pic of Snuff there!

  • This was in the days when the indie chart was still good before britpop took over. The Stone Roses were the best Madchester band in my opinion.

  • Wow-w-wow-w-wow!! The unlikely pairing of Happy Mondays and the late great Karl Denver on such a great song. Almost brings a tear to the eye.

  • Remember thiws chart really clearly for some reason. Probably because I couldn't understand what was being growled by Dinosaur Jr.

  • They were doing a cover of The Cure classic "Just Like Heaven"
