Please can someone suggest a CD that contains this type of music. I love Zen but I never know where to find the material. Many thanks and God bless xxx
When I listen zen music. I always thinking that im in a lost mountain, that nobody as went and find a wonderful place that i'm meditating on a huge rock on the middle of a little lake, with a waterfall.
I dont know why but I think that when im gonna be older. I'm gonna go in japan or maybe other place like mongolia or china... and do this because I think, IT'S A PART OF MY DREAM...
Why have beliefs when you can have ideas? Ideas are fluid, they can change and adapt and no one spills blood on behalf of their "ideas". It doesn't matter who you are or who you think yourself to be- all that matters is that you ARE.
it's important to believe in something .Isn't our fault that we respect and believe a God of witch others not. it's about birth custom is God in my country but in the same time this God maybe has another name. It's very important for us like people to respect everybody religion .
I think that the music is very soothing and it brings peace. I am not into the whole Zen Buddism thing because i am a christian, but i think that this very calming and relaxing. Something nice for yoga.
It would appear as though we have no disagreement. However, you cannot be a true Christian and agree with Zen. I was a Chistian for 15 years, and they do not approve of any philosophy that takes the follower further away from god. Zen is (in part) the absence of god and religious dogma.
Zen is no religion whatsoever. It's more of a state of mind, a way of life. It worships no gods, doesn not have a problem with gods, but focusses on the own well-being, rather than worshipping. Therefor, it can easily be combined with any lifestyle, religion, or atheism.
Zen forbids nothing, it only asks that you look at yourself, and feel the life running through you. I suppose that is a philosophy that can be combined with Christanity very well:)
Certainly Zen forbids nothing, I'm still not disagreeing. But a Christian cannot learn Zen, I'm just telling it like it is from a Christian Standpoint. Zen is fine with everything, I agree, but Christianity is not. They regard Zen as a religion, as such, they don't approve.
There are lots of catholic scholars trying to revive christian meditation through learning zen in Japan. Not the 'new age joke' but having exchange programs here in Japan. Meister Eckhart was seen by some of the zen masters as enlightened.
Also, don't forget there are loads of different forms of christianity... some allow for zen.
I'm speaking strictly based on laws in the Bible. Certainly some Christian sects would allow it, but if they do, then they aren't following the dogmatic laws of the Bible.
..the only thing that never change.....is change itself, everything else evolves, when we deny that fact, we become weaker as we've seen it thru millions of years of extintion in species..the ones who prevale are those who adapt and flow thru change.
I only follow the teachings of Jesus. He was all about peace and love. And so is Zen. I found nothing wrong with being a Christian and liking Zen. I certainly won't go to hell for that.
On the one hand, one cannot maintain (as those calling themselves Christian all do) that Jesus is God made manifest, and in the same breath say as you did that He "wasn't always a nice guy". As the Creator, He is the very author and arbitor of what constitutes "good". To presume to say He or His teachings AREN'T, is to put oneself in a position of judgement OVER Jesus and thereby presume ONESELF to be God.
On the other hand, it's a central Catholic tenet that mankind is low by nature and utterly incapable of good of his own accord. When truly good works ARE shown, it's merely man responding to one's "inner light", the call of God, and proceeding wherever He might lead. Thus, when someone of any other faith tradition (equally so, for any Christian as a matter of fact) does good works, and does them being "lead" from within and NOT with any ulterior motive, it cannot BUT be of God.
Thus, I agree that zen in and of itself, apart from what might be labelled idolatry, is in no sense incompatible with faith in Christ. Interestingly by the way, "Kirisuto", the pronounciation of Christ in Japanese, means "to cut off all ties". Christ, like Buddha, taught us to free ourselves of dependence on materialism, and further, that the love of money is the root of all evil. The very NAME of Christ in Japanese teaches a basic tenet of zen. Beautifully poetic, or mere concidence?
It would appear we have an idealist who has never read the bible. You have to make a series of assumptions to say what you've said. You presume that Jesus Christ really did exist. There's no contemporary historical account of his life, or any archeological evidence of his actions. Show me proof of his existence and perhaps your statement will purport to be valid.
The Roman historian Tacitus writing between 115-117 A.D. had this to say: "They got their name from Christ, who was executed by sentence of the procurator Pontius Pilate in the reign of Tiberius. That checked the pernicious superstition for a short time, but it broke out afresh-not only in Judea, where the plague first arose, but in Rome itself, where all the horrible and shameful things in the world collect and find a home." From his Annals, xv. 44.
Mention of Jesus can also be found in Jewish Rabbinical writings from the Tannaitic period, between 70-200 A.D. In Sanhedrin 43a it says:
"Jesus was hanged on Passover Eve. Forty days previously the herald had cried, 'He is being led out for stoning, because he has practiced sorcery and led Israel astray and enticed them into apostasy. Whoever has anything to say in his defence, let him come and declare it.' As nothing was brought forward in his defence, he was hanged on Passover Eve."
That there is any mention of Jesus at all in the above is unususal. As far as the Roman world was concerned, Jesus was a nobody who lived in an insignificant province, sentenced to death by a minor procurator. To conclude, there is plenty of historical proof that the Bible is accurate. In fact, it is one of the most accurate books known concerning the history of the ancient nations in and around Israel.
I know you said you don't believe, but God bless you anyway :)
It's unfortunate that you cite these references as I asked for contemporary evidence. You must take into account that Tacitus' Annals earliest surviving manuscript containing the passage is an Eleventh Century Christian scribal copy. Also unfortunate is that you claim the Sanhedrin mentions Jesus, while it actually mentions Yeshu, which has not been supported by the majority jewish writings to mean Jesus. Also alarming are the contradictions to the Gospels that the accounts of Yeshu cause.
Not unfortunate at all; you have your mind made up ALREADY going into this, so I wouldn't have thought a presumably impartial (hostile, even) authority would move you in th lest anyway. The Romans were meticulous record keepers, so if you would cast doubt on th veracity of Tacitus' words, the buren of proof is squarely on YOU. They've stood the test of time and will live in eternity when you & I aren't even footnotes.
Would you also like to address the heliocentric universe, the flat earth with a foundation, the firmament, the moon as a light, the value of pi, the parallels of Jesus to Horus, the lack of any historical evidence for the story of Moses, how the Noah story has been done countless times by many mythologies before it, or that his ark would have sunk...I could go on all day about the so-called "Accuracies of the Bible".
I'd be more thn nhappy to. As we've blocked up more time & space beneath this video going off-topic however, write me via PM and we can continue it that way.
By the way, 2 non-contemporary accounts, bereft of reliability and consensus, are not considered "plenty of historical proof that the Bible is accurate."
Again, the accounts I listed here (only 2; they ARE more) are proven and aren't on trial...WE are. I originally agreed with another posted that zen and Christianity share more in principle than differentiates them, and you seemed to agree, albeit dismisively and hostile towards Christ. Thus, I don't see us as in conflict here. you have your opinion, and that is your right. Again, if it interests you to pursue this, we'll do it elsewhere. You and I are done here. God bless!
