dude, if anybody, I think here's 2 that know whats up. They way they speak is pretty close to they're playing styles. Beck, greasy uncompromising smartass with a sense of humor. Gibbons, zen master adaptability with respect humor and honor. Both are still going and boths newer shit still makes me smile.
Have the utmost respect for Jeff, but I don't have a problem with 80s pop. You can't tell me that stuff like Duran Duran, Bryan Ferry, or Def Leppard was bad. If it's not your cup of tea, it's not your cup of tea.
@spiralmetal The 80 's music seemed strange at the time , but looking back , and comparing it to what's being done now , you'll see that alot of original and inspired artists were doin their thing then . Compared to these cookie cutter rock bands now especially .
Of their generation, these two are the coolest, most viable cats left. Jimi's dead, Duane Allman, Roy Buchanan, dead. Jimmy Page and Dickey Betts are more or less retired. EC is still great, but his act is basically "Clapton's Hit Parade" (yawn). Billy and Jeff were ALWAYS super-cool, super-subversive, genuine articles. Very fitting that they're together at that awrd show. And also--their version of "Foxey Lady" at the R&R HOF show was incredible!!
not a fan of jeff beck but he made one hell of a speech. just beautiful. as for gibbons. goodness he's one of the coolest sonufas bitches around. LONG LIVE ZZ TOP!!!!!
