  • Rasta!

  • I don't want to go through this Eve-Issue again but I think that's where the problems with honesty started, because Charly couldn't and wouldn't say the truth about how he felt about her joining...

  • well Africa does not have a feeling , it has a lot of feelings.. there are a lot of "nations" original tribes & nations. so there's very hard to have a feeling of Africa, Ewan...

  • same...this one seems like it's posing as long way round... they're not letting it in the same way they did. can't really blame em though... ideas are hard things to let in.

  • It does not matter where you go, be it an airport, park or a hotel lobby and for that matter Ewans hotel suite, there is always a bloody hippy who has to sit on the floor. Even when there are seats provided. I have stayed in some real shit holes but I have always gone for the chair as I have never come across a comfortable floor.

  • What I find interesting is that when they are filmed in the lobby all sat together, presumably trying to talk it through, there is a woman knelt on the floor in front of them. That's not a joke, but just wondering if she wasn't someone brought in (like corporate negotiation maybe). She definitely wasn't part of the travel group.

  • Ewan lists a lot of reasons behind the tension between him and Charlie but fails to mention Charlie is still probably pissed off that Ewan's wife is coming on the trip.

  • @dovestones :I agree, Why in hells name did Ewan invite his wife when she cant ride?.. There was no reason for it.(hmm). its very dangerous, very selfish and ruins the dynamics of the team. Im not sexist and dont take me the wrong way, but putting novice female in between these guys, in this terrain was just wrong. Open and honest ?, Charlie you should have put your foot down, Eve should NOT have been there. Ewan - listen to yr mate! .That aside. great film/Adventure well done all of you !

  • its nice that Ewan wanted his wife on the trip but, she is a learner and , without even seeing her ride, surely would be incompetent for anything but learner riding?? Me thinks Ewan/Eve got their way purely because he is a movie star. Oh well just goes to show we're all human, and human do dumb things.

  • Long way round had that something special that it was the first one, and claudio was more of a feature too which is never bad. The magic of LWD is that they are in Africa itself. When you include Ewan's mrs on the trip, and i don't just mean for 10 days, she's there from the beginning psychologically for everyone; coupled with this incessantly complained about 'tight schedule' we should be grateful for any 'boy's vibe' at all. IMO.

  • it all started when Eve started wanting to be in on it. its not about her, its never been about her. its about friends and bikes.

dont get me wrong, i really love my mates girlfriends/wives to bits, but i know them through my mates. me adn my mates ride and our ladies dont. simple as. we ride for hours at a time not planning where we go and whoever's up front leads.

  • @BboyFiZiX If all of a sudden my best mates wife wanted to tag along on her scooter and wanted to stop every hour at a pub whilst we all slowed down for her and he wasnt addressing it in any other way than "OK great my Mrs is along for the ride!!! isnt that great lads!!!" we'd all probably feel like charlie as well. especially if it used to be 2 of us and now its a guy and his wife....and me, damn right charlie's pissed.

im a huge fan of ewan but i feel that he was being a little selfish here :(

  • @BboyFiZiX well i feel the same but i got to point out that... he is married to her imagine her reaction if he said no

  • @wester42 yeah but that's my point exactly! she shouldnt be asking in the first place! she should understand her husband and his friendship with charlie and respect that for what it is, not try and encroach on what they have for no good reason other than "im jealous"

  • @BboyFiZiX

charley said a smart thing " it's like a marriage, really."

and he's very right, a long trip will test a friendship's boundaries...

in this case however, it's a polygamist marriage in that the OTHER wife is about to crash the vacation.

chuck is a bit jealous and i think rightfully so, i too though ewen understood what these trips mean for the friendship on a deeper level.

ewen sadly is P-whipped and can't see the wrong in having eve along and as typical blames the hurt one.

  • Anyone who knows what the name of the song is @ 1:59?

  • The Long Way Round was a lot better in terms of entertainment value. It was a lot more fun. This is a lot more serious and more about the beauty of life. They're both good is completely different ways.

  • haha when charlie said "i think im a natural worrier, i worry about everything.." i first understood : "i think im a natural warrior ":D

  • 'Think twice about it, 'cos I might just tell you to f**k off' ha

  • Too many lovey moments from two guys who are being payed to have the trip of a lifetime,,,all they can do is whinge me me me etc ...real hero of this and long way round is claudio..does everything they do and more and just gets on with it...they planned the trip and they whinge like sad bitches about it....GET A LIFE the pair of you !!!

  • @TheAwsomeshell agreed they are such a couple of moaners, their hearts just doesn't seem to be in it and i think with the fact there is just two of them it doesnt work, im quite disappointed .. bring back Claudio, all is forgiven.

  • GORGEOUS ¡¡¡ just downloaded the full album from downloadmusic.im

  • lwr was much better..!!!!! not even close

  • I'm a mite bit confused - these guys chose their route, they mapped out the roads and stopping points so they knew the distances and they knew some of the roads would be merely dirt or gravel. (So far, the roads are better than anything in Mongolia in LWR) So I'm not sure I understand why they are complaining about their pace or having time to experience Africa. As to support staff, I don't find Alexanian objectionable at all. Good crew.

  • They didn't allow themselves enough time to chill out. It seems like LWD is just a bunch of motorcycle riding and a lot more of the producers/directors. I really liked LWR because it focused a lot more on Ewan and Charlie just being jackasses together. LWD seems a lot more tense, not as fun or light-hearted as LWR. Oh well, I still hope they do Long Way Up.

  • I'm freaking blaming Ewan's crashes on Eve. She caused so much tension between Ewan & Charley by insisting on joining them. They now have to make up for the time they will lose by not being able to ride at their speed and off road terrain. I'm also putting the blame on the stupid UK's driving tester for allowing her to pass her test.

  • No one can say anything negative about Ewans riding, he has ridden as offroad as you could possibly do, all over the world. Ewan, Charlie and Claudio are the kings of bad terrain adventure riding.

  • The Long Way Down drinking game. Every time someone says "shattered", you take a shot. :)

  • if ewan keeps falling, how the heck are they gonna ride with his wife?

  • Up to this point I think that they totally botched this trip by rushing around.

  • It does seem rushed and less enjoyed than LWR.

    Still good show

  • did eva even help prepare anythin?

  • this series seems a bit rushed to me

  • This series is often awesum. Hope they does a 3rd trip. LET'S RIDE!!!

  • @jimithingjames There has been talk of Long Way Up from South America to Alaska, but if they do that hopefully it will have more of the pace of LWR

  • @vaudevilleUK Agreed. LWR was much better w/out the family element and the producers mugging for the camera. Especially that Alexian guy . . . what a skeeze.

  • charley and ewan coffee break ! funny

  • great show, but why do they have to complain so much??? that's quite annoying.

  • @che996 I'd like to see you do a trip like this, without complaining (;

  • Just great!

  • i would say it was more Eve's fault than Ewan's. He's trying to make both of them happy, while Eve wakes up one morning and just decides to come along, then says that she doesn't even like motorcycles. kudos to Charley though, good sport.

  • 6:31 i know exactly what he means. i cannot stand lateness. you don't arrive late to work so why do you keep your friends waiting?

  • thanx kowaxkowax for posting this

  • I lent this series on DVD to a mate of mine, and I still haven't got it back yet - git lol

Anyway, thanks to you mate for uploading this series, it is my favourite of the two shows they both do - I hope they do a third :-)

  • ... and Dai (die) the medic.. lol that is quite funny

  • I dunno, got to say I liked 'Long Way Round' better than this one.

  • same here

  • absolutely. The first one was much better. Thanks for posting these ones though!

  • yeah i think so too.

  • Me too. They seemed far too rushed in the stretch before Africa and didn't seem to be enjoying themselves at all. Plus the whole Eve situation kinda spoiled the fun. That was very sefish on Ewan's part and I thought Charlie was being an extremely good sport. I wouldn't be surprised if Ewan's entire family comes along for the next one, as poor Charlie's pushed to the side.

  • Not just on ewan's part but Eva's too, she even said she's doen't like riding a bike, she does seem really stuck up and spoiled though. Notice though how when ewan broke his leg and could'nt go on that skiing holiday, she still went, lol

  • @VerbalGraffitti

Yea, I gotta say I would never leave me husband with a broken leg for a stupid ski trip...evur.

  • @TheVlogSister And if I was Charlie I wouldn't have left my wife (for 3+ months) with the type of problems she had.

  • @rothery86 True dat

  • @WahKeetcha0 Eve ruined this trip.

  • @WahKeetcha0 Agreed, though I like the "behind the scenes" aspect of LWD. All of the work that goes into a trip like this is incredible.

  • @WahKeetcha0 your right, long way round was probably more of an adventure than this driving from unicef checkpoint tp unicef checkpoint, but i have to say that i watched both trips several times, and not because i was bored ;)

  • @WahKeetcha0 same here dude

  • @WahKeetcha0 I think Long Way Round was more challenging, but 'Down' is just as inspirational in my opinion. It's really all about seeing the world, engaging with different cultures, and doing it all 'in the wind'. Awesome if you ask me.

  • @WahKeetcha0 it seems more contrived this time and the Boorman issue.

  • @WahKeetcha0 yeah, but I still really love this one as well. Africa is a beautiful place. :)

  • @WahKeetcha0

    Me too.

  • @LucieLeader I think its because in long way round there was more of a feel that they were on their own, as where in this the crew seem to be with them a lot. That means that its easy to get out of difficult situations. Also they had no idea of how they were going to deal with problems like Siberia.

  • @WahKeetcha0 I like both LWR and LWD.

    Both are great!

  • @WahKeetcha0 I think it's the difficulty of crossing a war zone. It shows.

  • Think charley was out of order scrubbing out ewans map markings.

All through these programmes hes come across as a bit of a prick really. If it wasnt for ewans fame he wouldnt have the chance of doing such trips, yet he seems to be jostling for alpha male all the time.

  • That's a bit harsh. Yes he was out of order, but let's not forget that Charlie is a successful person and Ewan's best friend.

You don't see everything in this programme.

  • And right now Charly is doing a trip called "by any means" and believe me... he does not need this Hollywood sissy. The LW series had become more and more a McGregor selfexpression. And there is NO doubt who is the better bike rider, aye?

  • hes done dakar, hes a much better rider too. just because one guy is more famous doesnt mean he's better.

  • I agree with Lemonproject, quite so

  • Haha, at the end of the last one i was thinking "boy he falls down alot dosent he"

  • Did they do 'Long Way Up' as well? like going to Asia, like Nepal , Tibet etc.

  • called it long way round

  • not get!

  • Nope... from the tip of South America to Alaska.. Thats what they said.

  • they are gonna do one called "Long Way To Go"

    i think next year

  • I don't get why eve didnt come out for like france and such cause that's an easier ride than sudan =/

  • cause she is from fance and she knows france from the inside out i think, it woulda been more adventurous to ride along in africa, thats what i woulda done atleast

  • that ain't good enough for Eve!!

  • Charlie's a better rider....

  • Ewan has said that Charley is a much better dirt rider by far.

  • im using the playlist and this video has just come after the petrol stop near the lodge...? i thinks the playlist is wrong

  • thnks!

  • lol at one point Ewan almost didint say Canning town instead of Cape town. Funny, thaths were i live! :D

  • Thank you sooo much

  • thanks for posting it champ

  • thanks once again! :-)
