I dont know what you are talking about. I saw a major portion of Obama's campaign being about what he was going to do to create an even playing field to stop the job drain. Now once he is in office, he sawys he doesnt want to do anything about it. Nothing. He doesnt want these jobs in our country. Lou Dobbs is absolutely correct. I work in pharmaceutical research, and overthe past 3 years, I have seen 3/4ths of my colleages lose their jobs to china and india.

I have freinds in the electronics industry, and they are seeing the same thing. In addition to manufacturing jobs, we are losing the top end high tech jobs. Because of this, nobody in their right mind will go into these fields anymore. Chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, all ofthese entry level jobs for people out of school with masters or PhD's are gone. We havent hired in 7 years, and we will probably never hire anybody straight out of school again.

A major part of Obamas campaign was about how he was going to alter the tax code to create an even playing field, to lower the financial incentive of outsourcing. Last Friday at the questions and answer session, someone asked Obama what he was going to do about outsourcing. Obama shoots back immediately "Nothing. We arent going to do anything about outsourcing. We dont want those jobs."

He thinks the jobs being outsourced are unskilled manufacturing jobs. Bullshit. Most of the jobs being outsourced are the very top end high tech jobs. Towards the end of this year, again we will see massive layoffs from every large pharmaceutical company. All these jobs are going to china and india. I know lots of people with PhD's who lost their job more than a year ago, and still no job in sight. Once we lose our scientific foundation, which is the engine of our economy, we will be done for. An entire economic system cannot be based on service sector jobs. Thats all that will be left. Flipping hamburgers and working at walmart.

My field has been doing better in the short time Obama has been in office, and my Lilly has been doing well the whole time. There worry is the health care reform. Cant you see what ius happening in the industry? Are you blind? This year, the remaining biochemists were told they would have to train biochemists from China, on our site. We all know what comes after that. I know people in every major pharma company, and it is the same everywhere. Go talk to your chemists. The focused biology therapeutic areas are harder to outsource right now, but all the rest of us are history.

The ones like me that design the drugs, integrate data into drug design, along with synthetic routes, then we hand it over to china and india to do the work that thousands of americans used to do. I dont think the system works as well as it used to, and there are no entry level jobs for new people to climb the ranks and gain experience. When we eventually retire, there will be nobody behind us.

These administrators now think they can string together a bunch of outsourcing deals, keep a few biologists on site, and drugs will come out at the end. It is crazy insane. It will never work.
