If nothing else buy bulk pinto beans and the like. Our food that is leftover from preplanning food storage doesn't leave us with much beyond bland food but at least it's something to eat now with security of having food when the day comes that our food stamps poof. I think hyperinflation can happen since the government dose have a direct injection to the citizen through welfare, Social Security, unemployment, food stamps, disability, 50% of the population working for or contracted through the government, etc. If prices start to rise they can always print more, and give more to these programs to "keep the people happy". Firstly, hyperinflation is anything over about 10% inflation. At that rate, prices double every 7 years.

Secondly, hyperinflation does not require the banks that hold the dollars to do anything with them. As long as the government-Fed has brought it into existence, and passed it out of their ownership. It devalues all the rest of the dollars

Thirdly, there are up to 50 times more silver futures contracts than there is physical to fulfill.
